Before Odeta realized what was happening, Don Gardner had already arrived in the bedroom and lowered her onto her feet, his eyes scanning all the emotions on her face.
"You are angry," he deadpanned; there was an indescribable emotion in his tone Odeta couldn't quite put her finger on. However, she clamped her mouth shut, intending not to answer him.
His fingers, which had some roughness due to his handling of weapons, stroked her cheeks as his gaze deepened. He didn't like her silence.
"Don't touch me," she said, her voice firm.
