"What did you just say?" Don Gardner barked into the phone, his blood boiling at this point. 'How difficult could it be to watch over one tiny woman?'
"I think Miss Roxanne is on her way to find you," John said in a low voice, already feeling the chilling air the boss was exuding on the other side through the phone.
Don Gardner's jaw clenched as he mulled over John's words. He had asked Julian to investigate everything Roxanne had told him this morning. He planned to give her some monetary compensation and ask her if she needed anything so that he would give it to her since she deserved that much at least.
She had been his source of happiness at one point in his life, and he knew giving her money wouldn't automatically make her feel better, but that was the only thing he could give her. He had noticed Roxanne's clinginess and dependence on him at the hospital, and he tried to be understanding since her brother's situation was quite delicate.
