The hierarchy in the ninja world was rigid, and Damu, a former traveling merchant, lacked the strength to challenge nobles. However, Kain had no patience for such weakness.
After this issue was resolved, Kain decided he would ensure Damu focused entirely on managing the pharmaceutical factory.
The medicine Kain will introduce this time would be a game-changer for men in the ninja world, Viagra. Its appeal would extend even to nobles and daimyo, making it a must-have. Yet Damu, a useless figure, couldn't even handle a minor noble from a small country.
By evening, Damu returned, his clothes stained with blood. The nobleman and his guards had been eliminated by the pharmaceutical factory's security forces. If Damu hadn't succeeded, he knew he might very well have ended up in the Pure Land himself.
Kain decided to remain in the Land of Tea for a while to ensure everything was properly arranged.
This site wouldn't just house a pharmaceutical factory but would also serve as a base for an arsenal and ninja equipment manufacturing. More materials, such as iron ore, would be transported here to support these operations.
This base was integral to Kain's plans, and no petty noble would be allowed to interfere. Even if the daimyo of the Land of Tea expressed dissatisfaction, Kain wouldn't hesitate to send him to the Pure Land as well.
Damu, for his part, wouldn't dare make another mistake—not unless he had a death wish.
The pharmaceutical factory's machinery began to hum as production finally started. Watching the progress, Kain felt satisfied and prepared to leave.
Before departing, he instructed Damu to expect additional guards from the Land of Waves in a few days, ensuring the factory would remain secure.
As Kain left the Land of Tea, he found himself lamenting one thing: not having learned how to Apparate. It would have saved him time and effort, allowing him to skip unnecessary steps and go directly to Konoha.
When Kain arrived at Konoha's gates, he was let in without so much as a glance at his identification. The gatekeeper ninjas were few in number, and Kain's frequent visits had made him a familiar face to them.
Having been away from the ninja world for a little over a month, Kain expected that his house and shop in Konoha would have been repaired by now. As he approached, he noticed Nanami busy unloading goods.
"Boss, you're back! Your room has been rebuilt according to the final construction plans and blueprints you left. The shop is also almost ready to reopen, though some of the stock still needs replenishing," Nanami said, pausing her work to give him an update.
The delay in earning revenue for over a month, coupled with the constant financial support to the orphanage, had nearly drained the profits of Kain's thirteen shops in Konoha.
Fortunately, the income from his novel sales managed to sustain their operations. Otherwise, Nanami might have been forced to seek assistance from Aya.
"Good work, Nanami. Go ahead and continue," Kain replied with a brief nod after surveying the area.
Konoha's operations were relatively simple. Nanami only needed to keep an eye on the shop, check the accounts periodically, and handle any special situations that arose. Most of the time, her workload was straightforward.
Once inside his newly rebuilt house, Kain pulled out some miniature cameras and began installing them both inside and outside the property. These cameras had been invaluable last time, allowing him to detect the presence of Anbu in advance.
Kain couldn't help but smirk at how he was able to exploit Konoha's lack of technological development. If the ninja world had reached the technological level of Konoha 60, devices like cameras and walkie-talkies would already be commonplace.
After securing the cameras, he inspected the house. Its concrete and steel plate structure ensured that ninjas would find it difficult to infiltrate using escapism techniques.
Meanwhile, at the dessert shop, Kushina arrived looking visibly displeased. Before she could enter, she bumped into Nanami, who was just stepping out.
"Manager, can I buy something today?" Kushina asked, her tone impatient.
Nanami shook her head with a smile. "Not yet. The desserts haven't been restocked. But Kushina, Boss Kain is back."
Kushina's expression darkened at the mention of the lack of desserts. A particularly annoying individual had been bothering her recently, and without her favorite treats for over a month, she felt even more irritable.
"Is he inside?" Kushina asked quickly.
"Not long ago, yes," Nanami replied.
"I'm going to help a friend and ask the boss when the desserts will be available!" Kushina said hurriedly before rushing inside, her head lowered and her small feet moving so quickly she seemed to be running.
Nanami barely had time to respond before Kushina disappeared, leaving only a trace of her distinctive red hair floating in the air as she turned the corner.
Nanami shook her head with a chuckle. "You don't need to ask the boss. I could've answered that." Shrugging, she closed the dessert shop's door and moved on to work at a nearby shop.
