Nadia, meanwhile, was on the ground, still clutching her side from where she'd slammed into the wall.

Her head was spinning, her ears ringing, and for a brief moment, she wasn't even sure if she'd heard Juliana scream or if it was just in her head.

She blinked hard, her blurry vision slowly clearing, only to catch a glimpse of the knight's confused face.

The bastard had stopped mid-motion, his grotesque hand hovering like it had forgotten what it was supposed to do.

'What the hell? Why did he stop…?'

Nadia thought, her brows furrowing. From her angle on the floor, she couldn't see the hand on his shoulder. She couldn't see Artis. But she could hear him.

That voice. That familiar, maddening voice.

Nadia's heart was a mess of emotions—aching, frantic, and somehow annoyingly fluttery at the same time. But all that tangled chaos came to a screeching halt when she heard that.
