Night hung over the Kingdom of Aeron, but the capital city of Aerithis glowed with silvery light reflected from its many towers and walls. The air was filled with the distant sound of bells and the murmur of soldiers on patrol. In one of the less crowded wings of the vast castle, Mira walked like a living shadow, her figure hidden beneath a black cloak as she watched the movements of the guards.
She had spent days studying the surveillance patterns and gathering information on the disposition of Icarus' forces. Her new form, reborn by the power of the dark phoenix, made her something more than human. Her presence was barely noticeable, even when she walked through the most protected corridors.
"King Icarus..." she muttered to herself, a predatory smile on her lips. "Your paranoia will be your undoing."
