"what did you say?"
"W-we picked a dead person!" one stammered from the crowd, his voice trembling.
"T-that's right, she was buried a week ago, and the chief was kind enough to offer her child!" another blurted out, panic creeping into his voice.
"W-we tried to convince him not to, but he said it would be for the village's safety..." Their voices rushed together, desperate for justification.
But Seon remained unfazed, cracking her neck and fingers as the bloodlust within her grew stronger by the seconds of their reasons.
"So?"
Silence enveloped the group, realization dawning that they had made a grave mistake.
"Ieekk!!"
A terrified squeak escaped one man's lips as Seon lunged forward, wielding Yunnie's broken staff.
In her past lives, she would have dispatched them effortlessly, but in this weakened, frail body, every strike felt like a monumental effort. Although she had honed her combat skills for survival, applying that knowledge now proved to be a struggle.
"I hope you're ready..." Seon hissed, steadying herself for the attack. "Because this is going to hurt."
With a powerful swing, she aimed straight for the old man's head. He raised his staff in a feeble attempt to defend himself, but the moment their weapons clashed—CRACK!—his staff shattered into splinters.
His eyes widened in disbelief, and he barely had a moment to react before Seon's weapon came crashing down.
THUD!
Ortos's forehead split open, blood trickling down as he collapsed to the ground, unconscious. Gasps of shock rippled through the group as they stared at their fallen leader, panic coursing through them.
Seon took a step forward, and they all flinched by instinct. Although, they tried to muster the courage to defend themselves, their limbs betrayed them as it continued to trembled uncontrollably when fear took hold.
One by one, Seon struck.
Thud!
The first man's chin snapped upward, blood spurting from his mouth as he crumpled to the ground.
Thud!
The second received a blow to the stomach, breath leaving him in a painful wheeze as he doubled over, collapsing in agony.
Thud!
The third took a direct hit to the head, his eyes rolling back as he fell like a stone.
Thud!
Another groaned as Seon's staff found its mark between his legs, dropping him instantly, his body convulsing on the dirt.
Each strike came without hesitation, the sounds of cracking bones, groans of pain, and thuds of bodies hitting the ground echoing throughout the room.
One by one, they fell before her. Some, hopeless in their beatings, didn't even bother to fight back, opting instead for a futile Buddha stance, waiting for the inevitable strike.
The only one remaining unhurt is Yunnie, who crouched himself in the back, paralyzed by fear. Hidden among the fallen chairs, he stayed motionless, hoping to avoid Seon's wrath. His trembling hands clutched his knees as he fought against the rising panic in his chest.
But it was no use.
Seon's gaze found him instantly.
"Hieek—w-why?" Yunnie's voice cracked as he squeaked in terror. Just moments before, he had held himself together, but now, tears flowed freely as he sobbed uncontrollably.
Seon approached slowly, her breath visible in the cold air, fogging with each exhale.
The broken staff dragged across the ground behind her, the scraping sound amplifying the silence.
"So it was you guys, huh?"
Yunnie could only shiver, his voice caught in his throat, unable to speak.
"THE REASON WHY I WAS FORCEFULLY KILLED IN MY PREVIOUS LIFE!"
Without waiting for a response, she swung her staff with terrifying speed, aiming for Yunnie's face. The impact was brutal; a sharp crack echoed through the room as the blow connected with his cheek.
His body lifted off the ground, flung backward like a ragdoll, crashing into the ceiling with a loud thud.
K.O.
Seon wiped sweat from her brow, satisfaction coursing through her. It felt as if all her pent-up resentment had finally found release. Initially, she had been furious about the topic of sacrifice, but now... should she be relieved that this body was already dead?
Probably yes or probably not.
But what frustrated her the most was that in her most recent life, she had been killed by accident. It made her wonder if the rituals they conducted had forced her rebirth, reincarnating her into another body.
Of course, it was just a theory. But still—
She wanted someone to blame.
"Oh well, obviously their fault." she muttered, her tone dismissive.
"KU Wa Ha Ha Ha Ha!"
Apologizing was the last thing on her mind.
