Chapter 139 - Chapter 139: Is This a Date with the Young Madam?

At this moment, Fu Hannan was busy in a meeting at his company, working late to finalize the deployment plan for the new perfume launch. The atmosphere in the conference room was intense as the team discussed strategies and logistics.

When he saw the WeChat message from Gu Yining, he paused, setting aside the report in front of him. He turned to his subordinates and said, "We're not working late today; everyone can head home and rest."

The employees were left in stunned silence, jaws nearly dropping to the floor. When had the ruthless capitalist become so generous, allowing them to leave early instead of staying late? Recently, the CEO had been acting a bit strangely.

Returning to his office, Fu Hannan rummaged through the closet in the lounge and pulled out several suits for a change of attire. He brought them in front of Li Feng, his assistant, and said, "Pick one."

Li Feng chuckled, a playful glint in his eyes. "Are you going on a date with the young madam?"

Fu Hannan shot him a glare. "Just choose."

"I think the young madam has seen you in suits plenty of times. For a date, maybe something more casual would be better?" Li Feng suggested, his tone teasing yet sincere.

Narrowing his eyes, Fu Hannan considered this. "I don't have any casual clothes."

"How about I lend you this little yellow duck T-shirt I have on?" Li Feng proposed, playfully lifting his blazer to reveal a white T-shirt with a cartoon duck on it.

Fu Hannan looked at the ridiculous shirt with disdain. There was no way he would humiliate himself by wearing something like that.

"Forget it. I'm sticking with what I have," he declared, tossing the clothes he had selected at Li Feng's head before grabbing his car keys and exiting the office.

On the bustling street outside, people hurried along, each caught up in their own lives.

Gu Yining stood at the entrance of the cinema, having purchased her movie ticket, along with drinks and popcorn. She was waiting eagerly for Fu Hannan to arrive.

Fu Hannan parked his car in the underground garage and made his way up. From a distance, he spotted her.

She looked small, clutching a bucket of popcorn that was almost as big as her face, glancing around anxiously while sneaking a few pieces into her mouth.

Dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, Fu Hannan approached her, towering over her frame. "Have you been waiting long?" he asked.

"Not really! I booked the tickets online and came directly after class, so I haven't been here long. But, um, honey, about your outfit…" Gu Yining struggled to point out his attire, her hands full, and ended up only being able to glance at him with raised eyebrows.

Fu Hannan looked down at himself, puzzled. "What's wrong with it?"

"Well, it's not that there's anything wrong per se, but standing next to you, I feel a bit out of place. You're dressed for a gala, while I'm just a student. People might think you're taking your daughter to the movies," she replied, unable to hide the playful smirk on her face.

"Do I really look that old?" His expression darkened immediately, and he shot her a pointed look.

"No, no, no! You just look very mature," Gu Yining quickly backpedaled, shaking her head vigorously. She decided it was best not to press the matter further.

After all, it was already a pleasant surprise that he had agreed to accompany her to the movies.

"Are you not going to help me carry anything?" she asked, struggling to manage two large cups of soda and a massive bucket of popcorn, nearly tripping as she walked.

"Eat less junk food," Fu Hannan admonished, although he couldn't help but take the drinks and popcorn from her.

"Come on! At my age, if I can't indulge in these treats, then what's the point of living?" Gu Yining exclaimed, managing to hold on to one cup of soda while leading the way into the theater.

As they stepped into the darkened screening room, Fu Hannan's brows furrowed in disapproval at the sight of the packed audience. The crowd felt suffocating, and he could sense his discomfort growing.
