It seemed that Tang Tiantian still hadn't realized that Gu Yining was Fu Hannan's wife. If she found out, the roof of the Fu mansion might very well be blown right off.
"You... How dare you speak to me like that? Someone, come here! Are you all deaf?" Tang Tiantian stomped her foot in frustration, her voice echoing through the dining room.
But despite her tantrum, not a single servant dared step forward.
Gu Yining's lips curled into a slight, mocking smile. "Oh dear, can't even get a bodyguard to listen to you? How pitiful."
"You... you..." Tang Tiantian stammered, her delicate face contorting with anger as she trembled, too furious to even speak clearly.
"Stammering like that, do you have a speech impediment? As the household's doctor, maybe I should offer to treat you for free," Gu Yining said with a feigned look of concern.
Tang Tiantian's face turned green with fury.
Without thinking, she raised her hand, aiming to slap Gu Yining across the face. But before she could make contact, Gu Yining grabbed her wrist with a swift, effortless motion and pushed her away. Tang Tiantian was so light that, with just a gentle shove, she toppled over, falling to the floor in a clumsy, undignified heap.
Tang Tiantian hadn't expected this woman to be so strong, as if she'd been trained in martial arts. Now, she realized she was completely outmatched. But what could she do? She couldn't possibly win a physical fight.
"You wretched woman! You dared to push me! I'm telling Brother Fu. I'll make sure he fires you!" she wailed, tears welling in her eyes.
Gu Yining shrugged indifferently. "Do whatever you want. I don't have time to waste playing games with you."
Just then, Fu Hannan descended from upstairs, dressed in a simple white shirt. It was the weekend, and without his usual formal black suit, he looked more relaxed and youthful.
As he reached the bottom of the stairs, the first thing he saw was Tang Tiantian sprawled out on the floor, crying and shouting in a rather pitiful state.
"Brother Fu... You're finally here. She hit me!" Tang Tiantian scrambled to her feet and limped over to Fu Hannan, clutching his arm as she sobbed pathetically.
Gu Yining's jaw nearly dropped in disbelief.
Seriously? she thought. All I did was push her a little, and now she's limping? Is she really this dramatic?
"Gu Yining, why did you hit her?" Fu Hannan scolded Gu Yining, deliberately siding with Tang Tiantian.
Gu Yining raised an eyebrow. "Self-defense. Is that a problem? Or how about this—let her hit me back, and then I'll give her a chance to defend herself. If she can manage to push me down, we'll call it even."
"..."
Fu Hannan's face darkened. Tang Tiantian, defend herself? She didn't stand a chance against Gu Yining.
"Do you think I'm stupid, Brother Fu?" Tang Tiantian pouted, clutching his arm even tighter. "Your private doctor is way too arrogant! She doesn't know her place. I was just trying to teach her the rules of the Fu household, but she treated me like this! You have to fire her. I can't stand her!"
Gu Yining let out a cold laugh. "If you can actually convince him to fire me, I'll thank you."
Being fired would be a blessing for her. If Fu Hannan terminated her contract, she wouldn't have to pay the hefty breach penalty herself.
Fu Hannan's expression grew even more grim. "Gu Yining, do you really think I don't dare to fire you?"
"Then do it already," Gu Yining challenged, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "If you don't fire me, you're a coward."
Fu Hannan's silence stretched on as the seconds ticked by. Despite her taunts, he didn't take any action.
He knew better than to give her what she wanted. If he fired her, he'd be playing right into her hands, letting her escape the consequences. There was no way he'd allow that.
"Fine then. Goodbye, Fu 'The Dog,'" Gu Yining said, lifting her bag over her shoulder and waving as she made her way out the door.
As soon as she stepped outside, she pulled out her phone. Wasting no time, she immediately updated her contacts, changing Fu Hannan's name to "Fu Dog" across her phone and WeChat.
Tang Tiantian, still seething from the earlier confrontation, refused to let things end there. She ran after Gu Yining, determined to make her pay for the insults.
However, in her blind rage, Tang Tiantian tripped over the edge of the hallway carpet and fell face-first into the ground, her pride taking an even bigger hit than her body.
Fu Hannan rubbed his temples, his patience wearing thin. "What a disgrace," he muttered under his breath.
Who had the brilliant idea to bring this useless troublemaker into his home anyway?
