We then went to our beds. I was thinking about my life in the Academy, with questions like:
"Will I improve my strength?"
"Will I die like I did in the novel?"
"What if I don't touch the main character?"
Soon, due to my exhaustion, I fell asleep.
Morning. I woke up at 7 a.m. The sun was shining, its light streaming into our room through the windows. I looked at Ray's bed; he was still sleeping and a bit messy.
I washed my face and took the breakfast that people in the airship prepared. They delivered it right in front of our room's door, as if saying not to leave.
As I was eating, Ray woke up. He looked at me and yawned.
"What time is it?" He asked.
"8 a.m" I replied.
He went to the bathroom, then returned and sat on his bed. I handed him his breakfast, and he slowly ate it. We didn't talk during breakfast, and I didn't mind that.
After finishing my meal, I tried to create some magical spells, like a water barrier, arrow, and bubble, and practiced manipulating them. Ray, seeing this, asked:
"Don't you know the basics?"
I stared at him for a moment, unsure of what to say. I didn't have any education, and if I claimed to know the basics, I would be lying to my first friend in this world. So I simply replied:
"Unfortunately, I didn't have magic education since I was regarded as a weakling."
He laughed at my statement and said:
"How can you be a weakling? You have pretty good control over your magic. If you learned how to control and use your magic without someone teaching you, you can be considered a genius."
Hearing him made me feel a little proud. I really had learned all this magic by myself, which, as he said, could be considered a great achievement.
I was about to respond when the airship trembled, and we fell from our beds. It was sudden, and we couldn't react in time to avoid it. We quickly came to our senses and looked around. I then glanced outside and saw that we were in the middle of the ocean. Since the arrival of Mana, the ocean had become one of the most dangerous places, full of beasts that had evolved and its large part remained secret until these days.
Right now, I saw a large gray whale with a horn on its head, seemingly attacking our airship, which was about to crack open. Seeing this, I ran to Ray and hugged him, forming a water bubble around us. Inside it, we looked at each other. Ray was a little shocked by my actions, but that didn't matter right now.
Our airship broke in half, and Ray and I jumped from our room's window. He quickly understood what was happening and formed a blood barrier. We then fell into the ocean.
"Are you okay!?" I asked.
"Yes, I am," He replied.
I felt relieved; I was afraid he would be hurt. Looking at me, he said:
"Your reflexes are really good. If it wasn't for you, I would probably be hurt or even dead from this fall."
"Thanks. Now, what will we do?" I asked.
"I don't know. We will probably wait for the mages to come from the island," He said.
"Will we be able to survive until then?" I asked jokingly.
"I don't know," He replied, turning serious.
It was the ocean, filled with unknown beasts. It was uncertain if we would survive until the arrival of the mages from the Academy...
