"Hey, if you need anything you let me know, alright?" Jefferson said, looking at Miles who was standing outside of the academy.
"Yes sir," Miles replied, letting out a yawn. Jefferson felt a little saddened by his son's recent behavior. He wished there was something he could do to help him. But he didn't know that he was under the wrong assumptions. Had Jefferson known what was bothering Miles, would he still feel the same way?
After Miles bid his father farewell, he entered the academy. Since it was still early morning, the halls were empty except for a few staff members preparing everything for the day.
'I need to figure out which one of the dorms has Genki inside. That shouldn't be too hard, right?' Miles had to say, that Genki was one of the only few Asian people who showed up in the movie, of course not counting Peni Parker. All he had to do was find Genki and it would be a done deal. 'I should also work on my other abilities.'
Since he had been so busy getting the basics down, Miles had completely forgotten about the fact that he had two other abilities that he could use. Those being his lightning powers and the ability to go invisible.
'What better way to learn than by doing some hands-on training?' Miles thought to himself as he began to flex his body up. But nothing happened. "Dammit!"
Miles cursed as he tried to remember how the original Miles learned to use his abilities. From what he could remember, every time Miles had turned invisible, it was during a moment of extreme stress.
When he was fighting Doc Ock at Alchamex, hiding from the Prowler in his apartment, and then in front of his dad when he found the Prowler dead in the alley.
"Man...the Prowler." That was another thing. Technically today was the day that Peter and Miles were supposed to head toward Alchamex. But since Miles hadn't had the chance to destroy Peter's 'goober', there was no reason for the two to head over there.
And with Peter actually up to teach Miles a few things, he was already ahead of the original Miles. It made him think, would they still bench Miles while they went and faced off against Kingpin? If Kingpin doesn't kill Uncle Aaron, they'd have to face off against the Prowler who from what he could recall was putting in some work on this universe's Peter Parker. Should he go and talk to Uncle Aaron and let him know about his identity as the Prowler? Would Uncle Aaron be cool with him being Spider-Man?
All these thoughts continued to stew in Miles' head. So was the curse of knowing the future.
"Man, I wish I knew what to do." Miles sighed. As much as he hated this feeling, there was nothing he could do about it yet so Miles just put it at the back of his mind.
One thing was certain, he was Spider-Man and in the end, Spider-Man always finds a way.
Filled with determination, Miles began to focus his body on becoming invisible. He was going to get this down one way or another, even if he had to force it.
Staring at his hands, Miles started to see his body flicker in and out. Whatever he was doing, he was on the right track. "Come on, just a bit more."
It wasn't until some time had passed that Miles had become able to go completely invisible. Wiping the sweat off his forehead, Miles let out a content sigh. "That was a lot harder than I thought it'd be."
Now that he had gotten the hang of turning invisible, Miles was going to do a little scouting. Sooner or later, he would find out which one of his dorms was his. Making his way outside, a twhip from his web-shooter and off Miles went, circling the dorm building.
It wasn't until an hour later that he managed to find his dorm with a sleeping Genki inside. With a sigh, Miles slowly opened the window and entered making sure to not wake his roommate.
'I'll be able to get a few minutes of sleep.' Miles smiled as he dropped onto his bed. But it was only after a minute passed that an alarm in the room sounded, destroying any semblance of rest Miles would have had. 'Son of a-.'
Sitting up on his bed, Miles watched as Genki got off his bed. As Genki stared at him, he was a bit surprised. "Oh, you must be my roommate."
"Yeah, name's Miles Morales," Miles said with a yawn as he put his fist up.
"Genki Lee." He introduced himself, awkwardly bumping Miles' fist. "Imma go to the bathroom to shower first, if that's okay with you."
"It's fine, I'll go after you're finished." Miles waved him off before lying back down on his bed.
"Uh...right," Genki replied before entering the bathroom.
As much as Miles wanted to get some rest, he knew that it would be impossible. So the second best option was figuring out which classes he had. That would save him a lot of time and trouble.
'But where to begin?' Miles asked himself, looking around the room. He first started on the tables. There was one that was mostly empty and another that had different comic books on top. Miles guessed that the one that was mostly empty was his.
Surprised to say, after a bit of rummaging, Miles managed to find what he was looking for. A piece of paper with all of his classes written on it. It seemed that he still had some luck left in him.
'Well, I guess I can focus on my studies while I'm at it.' As much as Miles didn't want to do it, he felt that it was the least he could do. It wasn't every day that you got inside the body of a genius. It would be a shame if he were to let it go to waste. Besides, if he was planning on working as Spider-Man, he was going to need to study...a lot. It's hard to forget that Peter was the one who built and researched all of his gadgets. And he didn't do that by sleeping around and goofing off. Which meant that Miles was going to have to put the work in himself.
Miles couldn't help but sigh regrettably.
"Man, being smart sucks."
