White energy burst out and flowed into my hands endlessly, and a sphere of Prana formed in my hand, granting me the title of 1st-rank healer.
I placed my hands on his wound and within seconds, the bleeding stopped and the wounds closed up.
"I'm afraid with my current strength, this is all I can do, limb regeneration is currently beyond me." I sighed.
"Huh? I feel fine! I feel perfect!" Alexander jumped up in shock.
"How did you do that?! Teach me!" He held me by the collar with his one hand and shook me.
"Never. Only I can do it anyway." I replied bluntly.
"So even If I could learn it you wouldn't teach me?!"
"I still wouldn't teach you." I was blunt.
"So stingy! Learn to trust people, so someone can carry your legacy."
"Been there done that, all I got was a dagger in the back."
He fully dropped the act of a shy, weak bastard child and acted like he would when we were alone.
"Alright, let's get out of here,"
The room was a private library of sorts, just the letters on the ground were grounds for blackmail if used on the right officials and he just casually had them.
"How deep of a mess did I get myself into?" I finally asked.
"They called you Subject X, by my estimation that means you're fucked."
"….."
We left the underground room and arrived at street level.
A masked instructor I hadn't seen before was waiting outside Alexander's house.
"That's Elric Von Gray, one of the sons of the 3rd elder. He's the current head of the Ville, his strength level is close to that of an elder, so mind yourself around him." Alexander whispered in my ear.
Chief Elric walked over with an angry expression. He examined Alexander's eye and missing arm slowly.
"How dare they do such a thing to a successor?!" He grit his teeth with rage.
"It's alright, Chief Elric, I know they'll pay the price and I've been wanting to get a gold one for a while,"
Chief Elric didn't bother with the joke and looked up at the burning Ville with a solemn expression.
"Black Chapter." He spoke the two words slowly as if they were equal in weight to two iron mountains.
The energy in the area instantly shifted, and countless new auras seemed to materialize out of nowhere.
'A hundred-no two hundred plus, where were they hiding?! How did I not sense them?!'
Some of them I could see but still not sense them at all. They were dressed in tactical battle suits, armored with carbon ande star steel, and armed with black iron weapons. Their faces and heads were hidden with black carbon masks, no eyes or anything to see through, just a smooth surface.
Each one had a lightweight rifle on their backs, a melee weapon, and two pistols on their waists. Efficient at all ranges of combat and prepared for all conditions.
'All of them..are stronger than me?!'
I thought Alexander had known of their existence but even he was surprised.
They appeared on rooftops, on the street, in the trees, in the mansions, like the flames meant nothing to them. It seemed like every inch of the Ville was covered with them.
"Hunt down the rats, bring one alive." He raised a small black token shaped like a sword into the air as he spoke.
"We obey!" They spoke unanimously with nearly one voice and spread out like the wind in various directions.
"I hoped we'd meet under better conditions, son of the sky dragon," Chief Elric looked back towards me.
"It's my honor, Chief Elric."
"I see you've befriended my troublesome nephew, be careful of his greed for knowledge, it always lands him in trouble." He smiled.
"I'll keep that in mind."
"You can go check on your attendants, I have some catching up to do with Alexander,"
"Yes, sir."
I meant to find a chance to slip away, thankfully he gave me one. Alexander's expression was one of unwillingness, he wanted me to stay but couldn't say it. I gave him a smile and left.
(Alexander's Thoughts) 'You betrayed me~'
.
.
My mansion was unfortunately fully devoured by the flames, only the attendant's quarters were left standing. Marc and Lucy were waiting outside on the ground.
"What's going on?"
Lucy was unconscious as he held her in his arms.
"She breathed in too much smoke, I told her to come out but she insisted on getting this for you!" Marc was on the verge of tears as he spoke.
I crouched down and placed my hand on her abdomen. A white light was released from my palm and my Prana flowed into Lucy's body.
"She'll be fine." I noticed she held a small necklace box in her hands.
A prized possession from my days as a child. I had some memories of my parents as John Gray, they were nice, loving, and warm people. The jewelry box held within it a picture and a burned letter.
A picture of my father, a tall muscular man with distinct blue hair and eyes, and my mother, a fair-skinned woman of exceptional beauty, her temperament appeared soft and calm. Her ears were pointy and her hair was a beautiful silver color. They held me in between them with a snowy mountain in the backdrop.
And the letter burned except for one sentence:
We love you more than we can express, our little sunshine but our families and the world-
The parts before and after were burned away.
Still, I at least knew what they looked like and how much love they had for me.
'I wonder if I'll ever see them,'
That night, the assassins experienced a great horror, being hunted by the feared [Black Chapter].
