She ran towards him, her heart palpitating, her eyes stinging from the acrid smoke that had risen up in the air from the several bodies on fire. Although, she was tired out from the fighting and it had taken its toll on her, she didn't let i t deter her as she kept on running, looking for him. Then she found him in the mud, lying facedown. He didn't look like he was breathing.
She quickened her pace and knelt beside his body. Garnering the remaining strength she had left, she turned his body until she could see his face. She shook him and begged him to wake up, switching from cussing him out to begging him to wake up. Suddenly, his eyes opened and he coughed continuously, while she sat back on her heels and sent a prayer up in thanks. Then he sat up and looked at her in confusion. "Alice?'' he asked uncertainly. " Who else did you think it was?'' she asked amidst tears of joy and relief.
" I told you not to go into the fire, but you didn't listen. And when I looked for you and couldn't find you, do you know how worried I was?'' she asked, punching him halfheartedly in the arm. "And then I saw you lying in the mud and I…'' her voice broke and she started sobbing, the dam she had manage to keep in all this while suddenly breaking out. He put a hand on her hair, tears forming in his own eyes. " Alice,'' he said softly silently asking her what was wrong. She looked back up at him and blurted out " I love you, okay? I love you so much, it's literally been eating at me." Tears now flowing freely from his eyes, he looked deep into her eyes and said " I love you too.''
" Cut!!!''
