Chapter 11 - Senseless Sci-Fi

However, they soon came across a wall at one of the turns, with red lights on it, clearly signaling that they had entered a high-security zone.

"Hey, guys, if we end up in the hands of the Convention now, it won't be fun!" Delia whispered, trying to remain confident. "We need to come up with a plan to get rid of these dancing robots!"

Edwin, always ready for action, suggested:

"Maybe we can use their control panel? If they're just dancers, maybe one of them is controlling them with music!"

So Delia and her team decided to go in search of the control panel, using their acting skills to play out comedic situations as best they could. As they continued to move through the confusing tunnels, suddenly one of the participants, Ann, stopped dancing and looked at the others with concern.

"Guys, we have a problem!" she said, trying to shout over the music. "We forgot the supplies for tonight!"

Delia, looking away from the robots, asked again:

"What do you mean?"

Ann shook her head, her eyes wide with worry.

"Nobody brought carrots!"

The boys froze "the carrots, which they planned to use as the main snack at their "space assault party", turned out to be a key element of their plan. Without them, they would not have a single element that would make the party truly fun.

"How could we forget about carrots?!" Delia exclaimed, hitting herself on the forehead. "It was one of the most important things on the list!"

"I thought we were just going to dance and assault without them," Ann answered sheepishly.

"Without carrots? That's impossible!" Delia exclaimed, looking at Edwin, who was trying to hide his laughter. "We're at a "space party", not some serious battle!"

Edwin, with a smile on his face, said:

"Well, without carrots, it's not the party we were dreaming of. Maybe we should get some... Alternative treats?"

"What do you mean?" Delia asked, tilting her head in confusion.

Edwin pointed to one of the robots who was just dancing nearby.

"Look at these guys - they probably have supplies! We can try to get some food from them!"

The team exchanged glances, and in an instant everyone realized that this might be risky, but there was no other way. Delia nodded, full of determination.

"Okay, then let's do it! We can't let our party go without carrots!"

They decided that Ann and Edwin would try to distract the dancing robots so that Delia could use her abilities to find the "food station". They began to dance even more energetically, trying to attract the robots' attention. Delia, in turn, focused her psi-kinetic powers, directed her energy towards one of the tunnels, and soon saw a flickering light.

"There!" she exclaimed, pointing to the source of the light. "I think this is where they keep the food!"

Ann and Edwin, noticing that the robots' attention was distracted, ran up to Delia.

"Forward, faster!" Ann said, pushing them towards the light.

As they approached the door, Delia tried to concentrate and open it with her powers. To her surprise, the door gave in, and they found themselves in a small but brightly lit room filled with various snacks, including many carrots.

"We found a carrot!" Edwin exclaimed, rushing towards the boxes.

However, at that very moment, they heard a cracking sound and noticed how several robots began to return to them. Delia panicked, raising her hand to create a protective field around herself and shouted,

"Quick, collect everything you can!"

The team, forgetting about their dance maneuvers, began to quickly collect carrots and other snacks, throwing them into their backpacks. Finally, with their backpacks full of carrots, they hurried out of the room. Delia, opening the passage, was surprised to notice that they were in a bright, color-saturated hall. There were joyful cries of children, and around them, old arcade machines sparkled with neon lights.

"Is this an arcade for kids?" Ann asked in surprise, looking around.

The glowing screens and shiny machines transported them to a world that seemed as far away as the Moon Base. Games with colorful characters, from jumping frogs to space battles, attracted the attention of not only the children, but also their team.

"It looks like there might be visitors from the Moon Base here," Edwin noted, pointing to one of the kids who was happily clicking buttons on the game machine. "Over there, look!"

The child, oblivious to them, was laughing merrily, losing at yet another game. Delia, thinking of her own childhood memories of playing arcade games, felt her heart fill with nostalgia.

"What if we take a break for a bit?" she suggested, smiling. "We could play some games before we continue our plan. It might take our minds off all the stress.

The team exchanged glances. Edwin, a mischievous glint in his eyes, hugged the backpack with the carrot.

"Carrots aren't enough to stop us, and I'll never turn down a boss fight!"

Ann nodded, and they headed toward one of the machines. Delia walked over to an arcade machine with a space adventure game. Purple planets flashed on the screen, and the heroes fought alien creatures.

"I like this game!" Delia said, throwing a coin into the machine. "How many points can we get?"

Soon, the team found themselves immersed in the world of games, fighting against enemies and trying to beat each other's records. However, the fun was short-lived. Suddenly, several Convention agents burst through the door of the hall, panicked.

"Hey! It's them! Get them!" one of them shouted, pointing at Delia and her team.

Delia instantly knew that the game was over.

"Hurry! Get behind the machine!" she commanded, forcing her friends to take cover behind the nearest slot machine. Grabbing a carrot, she whispered, "It's hard to hide when all we have is carrots!"

"At least it's not an ordinary treat!" Ann replied, hiding behind the machine.

Finding herself surrounded by agents, Delia quickly realized with her abilities that she could use the situation to her advantage.

"Let's do it! We can create an illusion to throw them off!" she motioned to her friends.

Edwin and Ann nodded, realizing that they had to act quickly. Delia focused her psi-kinetic abilities and caused several of the machines to glow with bright lights, creating the impression that the hall was filled with dancing figures. The Convention agents, stunned by the bright flashes and changes in their surroundings, began to panic.

"What's going on? This is not what we expected!" one of them shouted, trying to shield himself from the light.

"Come on! Let's run!" Delia shouted, getting up from the floor and pointing to the exit.

The team quickly ran out of the arcade, leaving the agents behind, entangled in their illusions. Laughing and chatting, they rushed to safety, ready to continue their adventure, when suddenly they met a group of children who were excitedly greeting the brave heroes from the Moon Base.

"Hey, Delia! Edwin! Let's play soccer!" a little boy with white hair shouted, holding out a ball made of bright, reflective material.

Delia smiled, looking at the happy faces of the children.

"What could be better than a little fun after all this anxiety?" she said, gathering in a circle with the others.

"Agreed! Soccer is a great idea!" Edwin added, joining the group. "We could use a little physical activity after all this stress!"

The team quickly split into two groups: Delia and her companions against the children, who were enthusiastically cheering each other on. Delia stood in goal, playfully bouncing on the spot, while the children tried to dribble the ball. When the match began, the ball began to circulate between the players. Delia deftly dodged the balls, parried the shots and laughed at the jokes of the children. She felt the atmosphere of fun and friendship fill her soul, allowing her to forget about the pressure and worries.

"Hey, don't forget we have space powers!" shouted a little girl named Asia, who was expertly throwing the ball over Edwin's head, who was trying to catch it.

Edwin didn't give up and decided to throw the ball in the air in response, then throw it high above his head, causing the children to be delighted. Delia, seeing how everyone was having fun, realized that this was the break they all needed. When the score was 3:2 in the children's favor, and the game was already drawing to an end, Delia felt a surge of energy and determination.

"Now I'm going to show you something!" she said, gathering her strength.

She concentrated and used her psi-kinetic powers to create a glowing reflective field around the ball.

"Goal!" shouted one of the children, completely delighted, as Delia sent the ball into the goal.

The glow around the ball made it seem like it was flying in slow motion, and the children laughed and clapped happily.

"That was incredible!" exclaimed a little girl named Asia, amazed by Delia's abilities. "You're a real superstar!"

Laughter and joy spread across the field, and everyone, even those who were opponents, united as one team. The sun slowly set, creating picturesque shades of orange and pink in the sky. When the game was over, Delia looked at her teammates and the children.

"We should do it again," she said, smiling. "But now we need to get back to business. We have work to do!"

The children said goodbye sadly, but their eyes shone with hope and joy. Delia and her team, filled with excitement and energy after a fun game of space football, decided to take a short break to drink juice and relax. They sat on bright plastic chairs under a canopy surrounded by plants and toys.

However, their peace was short-lived. Suddenly, strange sounds like a mechanical rhythm were heard. Delia and Edwin looked at each other, and their attention was drawn to a group of dancing robots wearing "Sad Doggies" masks, which suddenly turned on automatically. They twirled and danced to the beat, causing surprise and laughter among the children.

"What's going on?" Edwin asked, tilting his head, trying to figure out how this related to their situation.

But then, to Delia's horror, one of the robots, clearly overwhelmed with enthusiasm, crashed into the wall of the arcade, causing several other dancers to lose their balance and start colliding with each other. The mechanisms began to overheat, and instead of simply continuing to dance, they suddenly began to move chaotically around the hall, knocking over everything in their path.

"Hey! Watch out!" one of the children screamed as one of the robots waved its mechanical arms as if desperately trying to continue dancing.

The robots began to spin at an accelerated rate, and soon one of them suddenly dropped an ice cream machine on the floor, which opened up, scattering sweets and glass fragments all over the room. This was the beginning of a real disaster: slippery surfaces, frightened screams of children and crazy dancing robots created an atmosphere of absolute madness.

"We need to do something!" Delia exclaimed, trying to concentrate and use her powers to stop the robots, who were now starting to cause real chaos.

Edwin, supporting her, shouted:

"Delia, create a protective field to keep them from causing further destruction!"

Gathering her strength, Delia focused, feeling her powers growing, and created energy around herself to protect the children and the team. A glowing shield surrounded them, and she pulled her power towards the robots to stop their dancing. Suddenly one of them froze, and then all the others followed suit, as if their programming had been turned off. But the sudden shift in energy caused a short circuit in the system, and one of the robots seemed to go rogue. It turned and headed toward Delia, intent on destroying her shield.

"Delia, hold on!" Edwin yelled, rushing to help her, but Delia was already in the middle of her final act.

She gathered everything she had and fired forward, sending a wave of energy that knocked the robot off its feet and sent it crashing into the wall, completing its program. Silence filled the room, and the dancing robots, defeated and turned off, lay on the floor like puppets that had lost their strings. The children, unable to contain their laughter, began to applaud Delia and Edwin.

"That was awesome!" screamed a little girl named Asia, running around and looking at her new friends with anticipation.

Despite all the damage the dancing robots had left in their wake, Delia felt like she had the situation under control. She looked back at her comrades and smiled:

"It seems we are definitely not on the path we dreamed of, but at least now we have time to think about what to do next!"

After that, Delia and her team decided to leave the hall and immediately came across a mysterious door, which, as it turned out, led to underground tunnels. Curiosity got the better of her, and Delia, of course, was the first to step forward.

"Let's check what's there!" she said with a playful glint in her eyes.

The others, despite some hesitation, followed her. They made their way through low corridors, along the walls of which strange neon lights flowed. The tunnels seemed alive "it seemed that they were adjusting to their steps. Suddenly, they heard strange sounds, reminiscent of a hum. The participants exchanged puzzled glances, and Delia quietly whispered:

"What is it?" It can't be just an echo..."

After walking a few more steps, they found themselves in a large hall, where something amazing was waiting for them: many caterpillars sitting on long chairs, each of which was holding a small guitar! These caterpillars were in bright costumes, and their length was enough for them to bend and stretch, creating the sounds of music.

"Look, caterpillars-guitarists!" exclaimed one of the team members, not believing her eyes.

The caterpillars began to play a fiery melody, and the whole room was filled with exciting sounds. They sang about adventures and friendship, and each caterpillar took turns performing their verses, creating a cheerful musical performance.

"This is strange, but also delightful!" said Edwin, dancing to the rhythm of the music.

The team could not hold back their laughter when they saw how the caterpillars, raising their guitars, made acrobatic movements like real rock stars. Delia, laughing, shouted:

"Now we can put on a real show! Who's with me?"

Some of her comrades began to join in with the caterpillars, imitating their movements. Soon the whole team was involved in the cheerful improvisation. Even those who had previously been skeptical could not resist the enthusiasm. But suddenly one of the team members, who was not so enthusiastic, noticed that one of the caterpillars, which looked especially unusual, began to tug on the wire.

"Hey, what's that?" he said, pointing to what the caterpillar did before disappearing into one of the dark holes, leaving behind a wire connected to an extraterrestrial power source.

Delia, instinctively sensing that this could be a clue to something important, rushed after it.

"We need to find out where this is coming from!"

Together with Edwin and the others, they rushed after the caterpillar into a dark tunnel and found themselves in a laboratory, where a sight awaited them that would astound even the most sophisticated audience. The room was filled with various devices, computers and bright screens on which data was flashing. But the main feature of this place was a huge teapot, looking like it came from the distant past, with a twisted handle and a shiny surface.

"What is this place?" Edwin said in surprise, looking around.

"It looks like this is the Convention lab, but..." Delia began, but her thoughts were interrupted by a sharp sound.

Suddenly, the antique teapot let out a loud whistle that echoed throughout the lab. The team froze, wondering what was happening. Then the message flashed on the screen: "Attention! Lunch break!"

Seconds later, the lights began to flash, and the warning system went off with a loud crack.

"All employees, evacuate the building!" a mechanical voice rang out.

"What?! Did we accidentally activate the evacuation mode?" one of the activists exclaimed, glancing at the teapot.

"We didn't mean to! We thought it was just a teapot with tea!" Delia added in bewilderment, shaking her head.

The team began to realize that, instead of breaking into the Convention's hidden systems and extracting information, they had, in fact, triggered an automatic program to evacuate the staff for lunch. Footsteps were heard in the lab, and soon groups of people in white coats began to gather, hurrying to the exit.

"Quick, hide!" Delia ordered, and the entire team rushed to find cover among the endless rows of equipment.

At that moment, one of the guitarist caterpillars looked into the lab with bewilderment and, apparently, at some point decided to support the team by jumping on the table and playing the guitar. The explosion of cheerful music distracted the staff for a moment, but it was only for a few seconds.

"We have to stop this evacuation!" Delia exclaimed, clenching her fists. "If they all leave, we will lose our only chance to find out what is going on here!"

Edwin, glancing at the caterpillars, who seemed completely unaware of the gravity of the situation, suggested:

"Maybe we can use this kettle? If we can somehow modify it..."

As they began to discuss how to switch the ancient kettle to "normal operation" mode, one of the activists noticed that a message appeared on the screen: "Attention! The last kettle has been connected!"

"A kettle?!" Delia repeated in confusion. But then it dawned on her: "It could be the key! If we can set it up to send a signal, we might be able to intercept information about how the Convention plans to proceed!"

Soon, their attention was distracted by the whistling of the kettle again. Delia, full of determination, reached for it while the others distracted the passing employees.

"We can use this kettle as a signaling device!" she shouted.

At that moment, one of the activists pulled a small set of tools from his pocket and began to tune the kettle. Delia, using her abilities, tried to focus on those parts of the device that she thought could be connected to the communication system. The guitar caterpillars, noticing the changes, began to quietly play their guitars, playing along with the general rhythm.

"If we manage to catch their attention, we might have a chance to find out what they are planning next!" Delia confidently declared, knowing that in her hands was not just a teapot, but the key to solving the secrets of the Convention.

However, at the most crucial moment, when they began to connect the teapot to the system, one of the team members, Richard, succumbed to panic and dropped its lid on the floor.

"Shit! I... I didn't mean to!" he screamed in panic when the ceramic lid smashed on the keyboard of a nearby computer.

The next moment, something incredible began: the screen lit up red, and the lab was filled with a hum. All the devices started blinking like in some space quest, and soon a voice was heard:

"The systems are offline. Please wait..."

"What?!" Delia exclaimed in confusion, glancing at the screen.

First one part of the lab turned off, then another, and soon all the devices began to turn off one by one, leaving only the dim glow of the kettle, which continued to emit its melodic signals.

"This is a disaster!" Edwin shouted, noticing how the lights of the buildings outside the window began to disappear.

"We have to restore the power, otherwise we will be caught!" Delia added, her heart pounding with fear.

Luckily, in the very corner of the lab there was an old computer that seemed to still be working. Delia and her team began to rush from one device to another, trying to figure out how to fix the situation, but Richard, who was still panicking, continued to run around the lab, looking for where to put his defeat.

"Focus, Richard!" Delia exclaimed. "If you don't calm down, we'll all be in deep ass!"
