Chapter 63 - TAIZEN AND MINONARA VS EMBER AND UGUWARA

The battlefield was a blur of chaos and heat as Taizen and Mionara closed in on the two mages. Purple fire still raged behind them, the screams of fallen soldiers echoing in the distance, but neither could afford to look back. Mionara darted toward the fire mage, his twin katanas gleaming in the glow of the flames, while Taizen veered toward the earth mage, determination etched on his face.

Mionara launched himself into the air, his katanas flashing in an X-formation as he brought them down toward the fire mage. The mage, cloaked in flickering purple flames, raised an armored hand, conjuring a fiery barrier that clashed violently with Mionara's blades. The impact sent a wave of heat rippling outward, forcing Mionara to backflip away.

The fire mage chuckled, his voice deep and taunting. "Impressive speed, kid. But you're out of your league. My name is Ember, and you should feel honored to die by my flames."

Mionara's eyes narrowed as he took a defensive stance, his katanas held low and ready. "What's someone like you doing here, working with Winko's military?"

Ember smirked, a playful but menacing glint in his eyes. "I'm not supposed to tell you this, but why not? Winko is just a pawn. The real power here is the secret mage organization. We've been pulling strings for years. Sometimes, we lend a hand to Winko to keep things… interesting."

Mionara gritted his teeth. "The secret mage organization? That's why Winko's been so unstoppable… That explains everything."

"Exactly," Ember said, his grin widening. "Now, let's see if you can survive a real fight."

Before Mionara could respond, Ember thrust his hands forward, sending a roaring inferno of purple fire directly at him. Mionara reacted instantly, channeling his newfound technique. Fire erupted from the soles of his feet, propelling him to the side with a burst of speed that left a trail of charred earth behind.

He closed the distance in an instant, his katanas flashing as he slashed at Ember with lightning-fast strikes. Ember dodged and parried with astonishing precision, the flames surrounding

the strikes. The battle was a whirlwind of movement and heat. Mionara's fire burst allowed him to zip around Ember, delivering rapid slashes from unpredictable angles. The mage, however, countered each attack with waves of searing purple fire, forcing Mionara to stay constantly on the move.

"You're quick," Ember admitted, a spark of genuine respect in his voice. "But speed alone won't be enough to beat me."

Mionara grinned, sweat dripping from his brow. "Speed isn't all I've got." He launched himself into a spinning strike, his fire burst propelling him forward like a blazing comet. For a moment, it seemed like Ember would be overwhelmed, but with a roar, the fire mage clapped his hands together, creating an explosion of purple flames that sent Mionara hurtling backward.

Mionara crashed into the ground, skidding to a stop as he coughed and struggled to get back on his feet. Ember advanced, his aura growing hotter and more oppressive with each step. "Give up, boy. You're no match for a true mage."

Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, Taizen faced off against the earth mage, Uwaga. The ground beneath Uwaga's feet shifted and rippled like water, responding to his every movement.

"You've got guts coming after me," Uwaga said, his voice a low rumble that matched the earth's tremors. "But guts won't save you."

Taizen smirked, gripping his katana tightly. "I don't need saving. Let's see if you can keep up."

He darted forward with blinding speed, his katana slicing through the air in a flurry of precise strikes. Uwaga raised his hands, and massive stone pillars erupted from the ground, blocking Taizen's blade. The force of the impacts shattered the stone, sending shards flying, but Uwaga remained unfazed.

"You're fast," Uwaga admitted, stepping back as Taizen pressed the attack. "But speed can be controlled."

With a sharp gesture, Uwaga slammed his palms into the ground, causing jagged spikes of rock to shoot up all around Taizen. The young Sicarii darted between them, his movements fluid and relentless. He managed to land a shallow cut on Uwaga's arm, drawing first blood.

"Not bad," Uwaga growled, his expression darkening. "But now, I'll stop holding back."

The ground beneath Taizen erupted, and a massive stone fist shot out, striking him in the chest and sending him sprawling. Taizen coughed as he struggled to regain his footing, the wind knocked out of him. Uwaga loomed over him, his control over the battlefield absolute.

"You Sicarii think you're special, don't you?" Uwaga said, his voice dripping with disdain. "But you're just ants under my boots."

Taizen wiped the blood from his lip and stood, his katana gleaming in the faint light. "You talk too much," he muttered, charging forward again.

The two battles raged on, with Mionara and Taizen both pushed to their limits. Ember and Uwaga were unlike any foes they had faced before, their mastery of the arcane arts making them formidable opponents. As the flames roared and the earth shook, it became clear that this fight would demand every ounce of strength and skill the Sicarii could muster.

Mionara's flame-cloaked twin katanas illuminated the battlefield as he lunged toward Ember, their blades carving fiery arcs in the air. Ember's hands moved in fluid motions, summoning waves of purple fire that clashed violently against Mionara's strikes. The two flames collided, creating bursts of heat and light that forced nearby soldiers to shield their faces.

"You're persistent," Ember snarled, stepping back as Mionara unleashed a flurry of blows, his twin katanas moving with deadly precision. "But you're not strong enough to break through me!"

Mionara didn't respond, focusing his energy into a new surge. Flames erupted from his feet as he activated his Fire Burst technique, his body blurring as he darted around Ember. The fire mage turned to defend, raising a barrier of purple flames, but Mionara's speed outpaced him. He slipped through Ember's defenses, his flaming katanas slicing into Ember's arm.

Ember winced and staggered back, glaring at Mionara. "You're good, kid," he admitted, flexing his injured arm as it began to heal, the flames sealing his wound. "But let's see how you handle this!"

Ember raised both hands, and the ground around Mionara erupted in columns of purple fire. Mionara leapt and twisted through the air, avoiding the deadly blasts with practiced agility. One column scorched the edge of his jacket, but he landed unscathed, using another Fire Burst to close the distance once more. He swung his twin blades in a cross pattern, sending a wave of his own flames toward Ember.

On the other side of the battlefield, Taizen was locked in a brutal struggle with Ugawa. The earth mage had created a towering wall of stone, forcing Taizen to scale it with lightning-quick movements. As he reached the top, Ugawa was already waiting, his fist glowing with energy.

The punch came like a hammer, sending Taizen flying off the wall and crashing to the ground. He rolled to his feet, blood dripping from a cut on his forehead. His katana gleamed as he charged back, his blade striking with precision and force.

"Not bad," Ugawa said, blocking the attack with a gauntlet of hardened rock. "But precision means nothing against raw power!"

Ugawa slammed his fists into the ground, creating a fissure that raced toward Taizen. The ground exploded beneath him, throwing him into the air. Ugawa followed up with a barrage of stone spikes that Taizen narrowly avoided, twisting his body mid-air to dodge the deadly projectiles.

"Enough of this!" Taizen growled, landing with a burst of speed and delivering a powerful slash that shattered Ugawa's gauntlet. But Ugawa smirked, summoning a massive stone pillar that caught Taizen in the chest, slamming him into the ground.

Taizen groaned, struggling to stand as Ugawa loomed over him. The earth mage raised a boulder above his head, preparing to crush Taizen. "You're done," Ugawa sneered.

Suddenly, a streak of fire shot through the air, and Mionara crashed into Ugawa with both katanas blazing. The impact forced Ugawa back, and Taizen scrambled to his feet, clutching his katana.

"Mionara!" Taizen panted, eyes wide with relief.

"No time for thanks," Mionara snapped, his flames intensifying as he positioned himself between Taizen and Ugawa.

From their cover, Officer Carren fired at the mages, the bullets pinging harmlessly off Ember's and Ugawa's magical defenses. "Fall back!" Carren yelled. "Regroup now!"

Mionara grabbed Taizen by the arm, dragging him toward a nearby structure as Ugawa and Ember regrouped, their eyes burning with fury. Carren and the remaining soldiers followed, retreating to a narrow alley within the base.

"Stay sharp!" Carren barked. "We need a new plan. Those mages aren't going down easy."
