It had almost been a full year since Vincent and Dennis met, they still haven't found the buried treasure, Vincent and Dennis were on an island digging random holes in the ground looking for the treasure, this was the fifth island they had searched and Dennis was still beaming with excitement " Dennis, are you positive this is the right one?" said vincent, " Yes, l'm positive it's this one, i just know it " said Dennis with a bright smile on his face " You've been saying that same thing at each island we went too. I'm so very tired, can we please start heading back?" Vincent said half asleep, "just wait a little longer, it has to be around here somewhere – " Vincent said, but then he gasped, and started screeching excitement " YES, AFTER A YEAR OF SEARCHING, WE FOUND IT, HADES LEFT EYE! " " Dennis. I did not do a year of searching for your buried treasure, just to find out it was a LEFT EYE! WHAT'S YOUR DEAL?" Vincent said, angry. " Do you know how much this could sell for, $500 000 000." said Dennis, Surprised, Vincent said " actually? Well then forget everything I just said, let's go back to town and cash this in! I'll call Jose to bring the helicopter to take us back."
As they gathered their gear, the rustling in the bushes grew louder, making Vincent's heart race. "We should really get moving," he urged, glancing over his shoulder. "I don't like this." Dennis waved him off, still fixated on Hades' left eye. "Relax, Vincent. We've come too far to bail now. This is our moment!" He held the artifact up to the light, entranced. Vincent's patience was wearing thin. "And what if we get robbed? You know this kind of treasure attracts the wrong crowd." Dennis rolled his eyes. "You worry too much. This is our big break! I can't believe you're already thinking about giving up." "Give up? I'm not giving up. I just want to be smart about this," Vincent snapped. "We've spent a year chasing this, and I'm tired. I want to go home, not just dig in another hole." For a moment, they stood in silence, the weight of their shared journey hanging heavy between them. Dennis finally set the eye down, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his face. "Maybe you just don't believe enough, Vincent." "I believe," Vincent replied, his voice firm. "I just don't want to risk everything for a hunch." Dennis stepped back, frustration bubbling to the surface. "You're holding me back! This is my chance, and I don't want to waste it waiting for you to decide if you're in or out." Vincent took a breath, trying to keep his temper in check. "What are you saying?" Before Vincent could process the words, Dennis took a step closer to the helicopter, which was now approaching in the distance. "I'm going home, Vincent. I'm going to cash this in myself." "Wait, what? You can't just leave!" Vincent exclaimed, disbelief washing over him. "We've been through so much together. We agreed to do this as a team!"
Dennis's expression hardened. "I know what I agreed to, but this isn't just some adventure anymore. This is my future. You're too scared to take a risk, and I'm not going to let you drag me down." Vincent felt a pang of betrayal. "So that's it? After everything we've been through, you're just going to ditch me?" The helicopter landed with a thud, its rotors kicking up a storm of dust. Dennis turned to him, determination in his eyes. "I have to look out for myself. I can't let this chance slip away. I'm sorry, Vincent." With that, he grabbed the eye, rushing toward the waiting helicopter. Vincent stood frozen, a mix of anger and hurt surging within him. "Dennis! You can't just—" But it was too late. Dennis was already climbing aboard, the pilot giving Vincent a brief nod before lifting off. As the helicopter ascended, Vincent watched, feeling a hollow ache in his chest. The island felt emptier without Dennis by his side. He had come here to find treasure, but what he really lost was a friend. With the sun setting behind him, Vincent realized that sometimes, the greatest treasures were the bonds forged along the way, and now, that treasure was gone.
