Donovan narrowed his eyes at the messenger. "What do you mean by that?" he pressed his voice firm.
The woman merely smiled the glow of her silver eyes unreadable in the dim chamber. "Time will tell," she said, her tone laced with finality. Then, without another word, she turned on her heel and strode out of the chamber, her cloak billowing behind her.
Donovan clenched his fists, frustration tightening his chest. The cryptic nature of her words did nothing to soothe his worries. Phoenix had already been lost to him once before banished, imprisoned, and then set loose upon the world like an untamed storm.
And now, she was with Cyrus Sol Selene, a man who had once been a legend and was now walking reality.
