For her, there was absolutely no second chance.
Even with her high test scores and the fact that she could now be confirmed in the top four of the physical fitness test, admission was a sure thing.
However, a woman's pride can sometimes be terrifying.
Boom!!!
The intense clash in mid-air lasted about four or five seconds.
Under the relentless barrage of kicks from The World, the wind and ice barriers finally shattered.
Seeing the tall, imposing figure of The World rapidly closing in, Todoroki Shoto and Yoarashi Inasa both wore expressions of disbelief.
"Wryyyyyyyyyy!!!"
With a final, ferocious roar, Itadori's The World delivered a powerful kick, sending both men hurtling through the air. They crashed heavily into the pool below.
After defeating Todoroki Shoto and Yoarashi Inasa, Itadori recalled The World, stepped onto the simulated hillside, and crossed the finish line like a bullet.
"First place, Itadori Muzan!"
Present Mic shouted, having confirmed with Principal Nezu through his communicator that no rules were violated.
About fifteen seconds later, Yaoyorozu Momo, who had used her Quirk to create a hang glider, soared over the hillside and reached the finish line.
"Second place, Momo Yaoyorozu!"
Present Mic raised his hand again and shouted.
Seeing Yaoyorozu descending from the glider, Itadori looked at her with interest.
His gaze unsettled Yaoyorozu, who nervously asked, "Wh-what is it?"
"Nothing, I was just wondering—can you create anything with your Quirk?"
Itadori asked with curiosity.
Yaoyorozu thought for a moment and replied, "Generally, as long as I understand the structure, yes."
"Oh? So... could you make cash too?"
Itadori grinned.
"That's illegal! A hero shouldn't have such thoughts!" Yaoyorozu replied angrily.
Itadori shrugged, turning his back to her.
Yaoyorozu looked as if she wanted to say something more but hesitated. Just then, Yoarashi Inasa and Todoroki Shoto arrived, using their wind and ice Quirks to move faster.
Yoarashi took third place by a narrow margin, with Todoroki in fourth. Both were still soaked from being kicked into the pool by Itadori's The World.
Itadori noticed, however, that Todoroki hadn't used his full strength, likely thinking, 'I'll pass anyway.'
"That was amazing, Itadori!"
Yoarashi, still brimming with energy that Itadori found annoying, shouted, "Your attack was so intense!"
Todoroki, hands in his pockets, stayed silent for a while before saying, "Next time, I'll defeat you."
"No need to wait. We can fight anytime." Itadori replied, smirking.
If he wanted to strengthen The World, he needed constant practice and challenging opponents. Among his peers, only these two seemed qualified.
"Alright, alright! You four, head to the final interview. Go back to the classroom in the main building—your teacher's waiting for you."
Present Mic walked over and directed.
"Sir, what about the students who were... injured?" Yaoyorozu asked with some concern.
"They'll be treated by Recovery Girl, and then given a second test. You four head to the interview first."
"There's no second chance in life. You're way too soft, Yaoyorozu." Itadori teased.
Present Mic frowned and asked, "So, who do you think should be blamed?"
Since Todoroki and Yoarashi were soaked, they had to change clothes and didn't take the same bus back with Itadori and Yaoyorozu.
On the bus, Itadori leaned back, his arms sprawled across the seat, and glanced at Yaoyorozu. "Hey, make something interesting for me."
"I'm not a magician." Yaoyorozu replied, rolling her eyes.
After a brief silence, she asked slowly, "You... didn't hit me during the test. Was it because I'm... a girl?"
"No. Probably because you're prettier. It'd be a shame if you got bruised." Itadori replied without thinking.
During the exam, he had avoided hitting female students in the face, choosing instead to target their stomachs or legs.
Yaoyorozu's eyebrows twitched in irritation, her face darkening. She hadn't expected such an answer. There was a compliment hidden in his words, yet she didn't feel happy about it.
After a few moments of silence, Yaoyorozu asked again, "Do you... think I'm weak?"
"Yeah, very weak." Itadori answered bluntly.
Yaoyorozu huffed in frustration. This guy was too direct! Didn't he realize she was a girl?
"Itadori, you must've trained really hard to be this strong, right? You want to become an amazing hero, don't you?" Yaoyorozu probed.
"I do train, but it's more about power than heroism... heh." Itadori said. Feeling uncomfortable, he stood up and lay across the last row of seats.
Yaoyorozu looked at him, at a loss for words.
Itadori generally didn't mind being around women, but after a fight, he wasn't in the mood. Besides, serious girls weren't really his type.
When Itadori and Yaoyorozu arrived at the interview room, Todoroki and Yoarashi showed up shortly after, having changed their clothes.
"Alright, based on the rankings, come in one at a time. First up, Itadori." Present Mic's voice called from the classroom.
Itadori stepped inside, finding two people seated behind a desk at the far end. Only a single chair was set up in the center.
The interviewers were Shota Aizawa and Present Mic.
Seeing Itadori enter, Aizawa—holding Itadori's basic information—maintained his usual lazy expression, "Sit down."
Itadori took the seat in the center, and Aizawa introduced the interview process, "Listen closely. Answer the following questions within three seconds. This tests your ability to think on your feet."
"Alright." Itadori said, appearing uninterested.
Aizawa gave him a meaningful look and began, "Why did you choose U.A.? There are plenty of other schools with hero programs."
"It's simple. All Might asked me to come."
Itadori's answer nearly made both Aizawa and Present Mic choke. They knew All Might had recruited him, but they hadn't expected him to admit it so bluntly.
After recovering, Present Mic asked the next question, "If you were in a hostage situation, outnumbered by the enemy, what would you do?"
"Take them all out."
Both Aizawa and Mic had the same thought, 'Is he serious?'
"What if they threatened the hostages?" Aizawa pressed, his tone colder than Mic's.
"I'd get to them before they could."
Present Mic leaned over to Aizawa, whispering, "Is something wrong with this kid's head?"
Ignoring him, Aizawa continued, "What if there were a hundred of them?"
"Same answer." Itadori replied, unfazed.
"What about a thousand?"
"Still the same."
