With that injury, surgery was unavoidable.
"Really? Even though he's a brat with a sharp tongue, you're being too merciless." Recovery Girl complained, frowning.
Judging by her tone, she was confident that she could heal Bakugo.
"I've been rather lenient." Itadori smiled faintly.
The final punch that broke Bakugo's ribs had been delivered by himself. Had [The World] come into play, it would've pierced his entire stomach.
The last match, Itadori vs Todoroki.
Itadori was too lazy to move. He simply stood in the spot where Recovery Girl had just been, quietly waiting for the final battle to begin.
"And now, the much-anticipated final battle is about to begin! Dear viewers, I'm sure you can't wait any longer, right!?"
Amid the wild cheers of the audience, Mike's voice echoed. Todoroki stood up from his seat, his eyes filled with unprecedented seriousness.
"I'm going." Todoroki said.
After his battle with Izuku, he had become more humane. If it were in the past, he would've left without a word.
"Itadori has the ability to stop time!" Shoji shouted in worry.
At this point, even Jira and Momo looked at Todoroki with a hint of sympathy. Just like when Bakugo had been defeated, they didn't think Todoroki stood a chance.
"What's the point of fighting an opponent you're sure to win?" Todoroki replied calmly, walking away without a second glance.
On his way to the stadium, Todoroki found Iida standing in the corner, looking dull and lost.
He wasn't sure what had happened, but he wanted to ask. However, when he heard Present Mic's voice calling him to enter, he decided not to approach and hurried in.
"The final battle! The real final battle! The best first-year student in the U.A. Hero Department... This might even decide who is the strongest person in the entire U.A.!"
"He inherited his father's elite Quirk, both fire and ice—Shoto Todoroki!"
"And here we have perhaps the strongest Quirk in history—a power to actually stop time! Not just 'great,' but 'invincible'—Itadori Muzan!"
"Let's see who is the top first-year student in U.A.!"
Cementoss repaired the stadium one last time.
Todoroki stepped onto the field, glaring at Itadori, his face furrowed in concentration.
"You still dare to come up? It's really a pity Midoriya spilled the secret of my stand before the exam ended."
Itadori was surprised. The secret of [The World] had become widely known, especially with Bakugo's disastrous condition for all to see.
Todoroki, nonetheless, was still brave enough to step up.
"If you retreat when you see a strong opponent, you're not worthy of being a hero." Todoroki declared with resolve.
Itadori remained silent for a few seconds. His tone carried no mockery, "Really? Then you should work hard."
Cold sweat appeared on Midnight's face involuntarily, and her gaze shifted nervously to Itadori, thinking, 'What will he do? '
"The final battle begins!!!" Present Mic's voice rang out.
Would Itadori use his ability to pause time and take Todoroki down in an instant?
"Here we go!"
Todoroki took a step forward, summoning a massive iceberg that nearly filled the field, charging toward Itadori.
If it were any other opponent, they would've been pushed back before they could act.
Boom!!!
Itadori's hands suddenly grabbed the edge of the iceberg, the immense force in his arms halting its advance.
"It's the world!" Present Mic shouted.
"It's not over yet!"
Todoroki laughed loudly as his left arm erupted in flames.
The fire consumed the upper part of the iceberg, sending large chunks of ice crashing down.
"Amazing! A combination attack with ice and fire!" Denki exclaimed.
"No, Todoroki hasn't mastered combining ice and fire yet. He's doing it now because he has no choice." Midoriya said, biting his lip, "The real star is Itadori!"
"Going all out from the start, huh?" Itadori remarked, watching the massive ice block fall after its support had been burned away.
[The World] quickly aimed both fists at the falling ice block.
"Hmm!"
With a muffled roar, [The World] punched at the ice, shattering all the falling chunks!
"Now!"
Todoroki used his right foot to push the iceberg further. While [The World] was dealing with the ice, Todoroki hoped to catch Itadori off guard and push him out of the field.
Boom!!
The iceberg quickly covered the entire stadium.
Todoroki also felt the backlash, a large part of his right cheek becoming frostbitten.
However, the audience watched and saw no sign of Itadori's fall.
"Well done. As far as opponents go, you're one of the best so far." Itadori's voice rang out suddenly.
Todoroki looked up in surprise and saw Itadori standing on top of the iceberg, as if nothing had happened.
"You just... paused time, didn't you?" Todoroki shouted, realizing the truth.
Present Mic's voice boomed again, "It's here! It's here! Itadori's true power—[The World]! The most incomprehensible power—time stop! He paused time and dodged Todoroki's attack!"
The audience erupted in shock and awe.
"That's a strong Quirk, but!" Todoroki suddenly stretched out his hand and shouted, "Your Quirk isn't invincible!"
Itadori raised an eyebrow, "Oh? You figured it out?"
"Yes!" Todoroki stood firmly, his expression resolute, "Your ability has limits. You can only stop time for about 1-2 seconds at most. Otherwise, you could've come down from that iceberg and kicked me out like you did to Bakugo, but you didn't!"
His words brought realization to the heroes watching.
"If he could stop time indefinitely, that would be terrifying." One of the heroes murmured.
Itadori laughed, clapping his hands, "My [The World] is indeed worthy of praise, huh? But so what? Even if you see through the time stop's limitations, what will you do in a world where time is paused?"
Todoroki clenched his fists, his voice deep, "Come on, use your ability!"
Itadori's eyes glinted as the afterimage of [The World] flashed and appeared beside him.
"Since you think so, I'll help you! [The World], smash everything!"
"Time, stop!"
An overwhelming energy burst from Itadori, engulfing the world in chaos.
The birds froze in mid-air, cars halted, and even babies stopped crying. Everything was motionless.
Itadori jumped from the iceberg, walking calmly toward Todoroki, who stood frozen in place, eyes wide in defiance.
"Let's end this." Itadori murmured coldly.
He thrust his fist toward Todoroki's abdomen, stopping just short of contact.
But a sudden chill surged through his hands, and Itadori looked down in surprise. The cold seemed to emanate from Todoroki himself.
In the instant the world resumed, the audience only saw Itadori standing over Todoroki, his fist poised but not striking.
