The day the academy results came out, Ryuji wasn't nervous—he was too cocky for that now. He'd trained like a maniac for over a year, mastering techniques and pushing his body past the limits any ordinary five-year-old would face. So when the system dinged, notifying him that the results were available, he smirked. "Let's see if this damn system lives up to the hype," he muttered.
Opening the system window, the results were displayed right in front of him:
Academy Enrollment Results: Ryuji Suzuki – Rank 1
A slow grin spread across his face. "Top fucking spot, huh? Damn right," he said, the arrogance in his voice bleeding through as he leaned back, stretching his arms behind his head. He had expected this—hell, he would've been more shocked if he wasn't number one. But still, it felt good to see the validation in black and white. All that grinding paid off.
He shut the system window, but a new prompt appeared right after.
Quest Completed: Enroll in the Academy and Take First Place. Reward: B-Rank Jutsu Scroll.
Name: Lightning Release: Thunderbolt
Rank: B-rank
Description: The user extends both arms, releasing a high discharge through both palms, targeting multiple opponents simultaneously. It is possible to increase the power using this technique in combination with a water source.
"Fucking finally!" Ryuji exclaimed, punching the air. "About time I got something decent out of this thing." He was getting sick of the boring, low-level tasks the system threw at him. This was his first A-rank reward, and he was itching to check it out. But for now, he had bigger fish to fry—his first day at the academy was tomorrow.
He was enrolled in the same class as Neji Hyuga, Tenten, and Lee. He hadn't met any of them yet, but he remembered the names from the memories of his past life. Neji, a prodigy of the Hyuga clan with those freaky Byakugan eyes, Tenten, the weapons expert, and Lee, the weirdo who couldn't use ninjutsu but was a beast in taijutsu.
"Guess I'll get to see what they're like in person," he thought, amused. "Not that it matters. None of them can touch me." His cocky attitude wasn't just a facade—it was born from the endless hours of sweat, blood, and pure effort he had put into his training. He had no doubt he'd outshine them all.
Still, it would be interesting to see how far they could push him. He didn't have friends here, and he didn't want any. But rivals? Maybe. Someone to beat into the ground on his way to the top? That sounded fun.
"Neji Hyuga, huh?" Ryuji muttered as he walked towards his room. He'd read all about the Hyuga clan, and their famous Byakugan, with its near-360-degree vision and chakra point attacks. "Bet he's already full of himself," Ryuji thought. "Well, let's see what happens when his holier-than-thou ass meets me."
As the day turned into night, Ryuji lay in bed, hands behind his head, staring at the ceiling. His thoughts wandered back to the enrollment test earlier. The examiners had been shocked by his abilities—he knew that much. The physical test had been a joke, the chakra measurements were laughable compared to his reserves, and the written test? Please. He'd aced it like it was child's play, which for him, it pretty much was.
Most of the kids had looked at him like he was some sort of monster during the tests. He didn't care. Let them gawk. He wasn't here to be liked.
But still, a tiny part of him was kind of curious—curious about how the rest of the year would go, how strong these so-called "geniuses" would be. He wasn't delusional; Neji and even Lee were formidable in their own right, but they didn't have his advantage—the gamer system.
No one did.
Ryuji smirked. This was his world to conquer.
As sleep finally began to pull him under, one final thought passed through his mind. "Guess tomorrow's gonna be interesting…"
