Chapter 119 - The Beast Awakens

POV: Jenna

Jenna stared at the hulking beast that towered over the battlefield, its glowing veins pulsating in rhythm with the controlled zombies surrounding it. The creature let out another earth-shaking roar, and Jenna's grip tightened on her crowbar.

"Okay," she said, her voice shaky. "That's definitely not your average zombie."

Carl stepped up beside her, his sword drawn. "Stay back."

Jenna rolled her eyes. "You say that every time, and yet here I am, still standing."

"This isn't a joke, Jenna," Carl snapped. "That thing could crush you without trying."

Jenna huffed but didn't argue. Instead, she turned to her zombie gang, who were growling uncertainly at the new threat. "Alright, team," she said, clapping her hands. "Let's show Big and Glowy what we're made of."

One of her zombies groaned, tilting its head in confusion.

"You heard me," Jenna insisted. "Charge!"

The gang hesitated, but after a moment, they shuffled forward, their growls turning into guttural snarls as they advanced on the beast.

POV: Rick

Rick watched in disbelief as Jenna's zombie gang lunged at the creature, their attacks barely scratching its massive frame. The beast swatted them away like flies, sending them sprawling across the battlefield.

"Jenna!" Rick shouted. "Get your zombies out of there! They're not strong enough!"

"They're fine!" Jenna yelled back, though her worried expression said otherwise.

Rick cursed under his breath, his knife at the ready as he moved to intercept the creature. "Carl, we need to take this thing down. Now."

Carl nodded, his jaw set. "Aim for the veins. That's its weak spot."

---

POV: Kane

Kane observed the battle from the shadows, his expression calm as ever. The beast was performing as expected, its strength and resilience overwhelming the group. But it was Jenna's response that intrigued him most.

"She's reckless," Theo muttered, watching as Jenna darted forward to retrieve one of her fallen zombies. "She's going to get herself killed."

Kane smiled faintly. "Or she's going to surprise us."

---

POV: Jenna

Jenna gritted her teeth as she dragged one of her zombies out of harm's way, narrowly avoiding a swipe from the beast's massive claws. "This is not how I imagined my night going," she muttered.

The beast roared again, its glowing veins pulsating brighter as it turned its attention to Rick and Carl. Jenna watched as they coordinated their attacks, striking at the creature's legs and chest in a desperate attempt to bring it down.

"Alright," Jenna said to herself, gripping her crowbar tightly. "Time to be a hero. Or at least not a total screw-up."

She charged at the beast, aiming for one of its glowing veins. Her crowbar struck true, sinking into the creature's flesh and causing it to let out a pained roar. Greenish blood sprayed everywhere, and Jenna stumbled back, gagging.

"Ew, ew, ew!" she cried, wiping her face. "Why does it always have to be gross?"

---

POV: Carl

Carl took advantage of the beast's distraction, his sword slicing through one of its glowing veins. The creature staggered, its massive frame swaying as it tried to keep its balance.

"Keep hitting the veins!" Carl shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos.

Rick joined in, his knife driving into another vein. The beast roared in fury, its movements growing more erratic as it lashed out blindly.

"This thing isn't going down easy," Rick muttered, dodging a swipe from the creature's claws.

Carl nodded grimly. "We've dealt with worse."

"Have we?" Rick shot back, his tone skeptical.

---

POV: Jenna

Jenna was circling the beast, looking for another opening, when she spotted something unusual—a cluster of glowing veins near the creature's neck, pulsing brighter than the rest.

"Hey!" she shouted, pointing with her crowbar. "Neck veins! That's gotta be important, right?"

Carl glanced at her, his eyes narrowing. "You might be onto something."

Jenna grinned. "Of course I am. I'm a genius."

Before Carl could respond, Jenna took off toward the beast, her crowbar raised. "Cover me!" she yelled.

"Jenna, wait!" Carl shouted, but she was already too far gone.

---

POV: Rick

Rick watched in horror as Jenna darted toward the beast, her zombie gang trailing behind her. "She's insane," he muttered, running to intercept her.

"Just keep it distracted!" Carl barked, moving to cover Jenna as she climbed onto the beast's back.

Rick sighed, slashing at the creature's legs. "This is a terrible idea."

---

POV: Jenna

Jenna clung to the beast's back, her crowbar wedged into one of its glowing veins. The creature bucked and roared, trying to shake her off, but she held on with a surprising amount of determination.

"Okay, big guy," she muttered, gritting her teeth. "Let's see how you like this."

With a final, desperate swing, Jenna drove her crowbar into the cluster of veins near the creature's neck. The beast let out a deafening roar, its entire body convulsing as the glowing veins began to dim.

"Ha!" Jenna shouted, pumping her fist. "Take that, you oversized glow stick!"

The beast collapsed to the ground with a thunderous crash, its glowing veins fading to black. Jenna rolled off its back, landing in a heap on the ground.

"Ow," she muttered, wincing as she sat up. "Totally worth it."

---

POV: Kane

Kane watched as the beast fell, his expression unreadable. Jenna's recklessness had paid off, but it was clear the group was barely holding together.

"She's full of surprises," Kane said, his tone thoughtful.

Theo frowned. "Should we pull back?"

Kane shook his head. "Not yet. Let them think they've won."

---

POV: Rick

Rick approached Jenna, who was still sitting on the ground, catching her breath. "Are you insane?" he demanded, his tone a mix of anger and disbelief.

"Probably," Jenna replied, grinning up at him. "But it worked, didn't it?"

Rick sighed, offering her a hand. "You're impossible."

"And fabulous," Jenna added, letting him pull her to her feet.

Carl joined them, his sword resting on his shoulder. "Next time, maybe don't throw yourself at the giant monster."

Jenna shrugged. "Where's the fun in that?"
