POV: Human Survivor Group
The survivors were drained, their breaths shallow from the last encounter with the mutated plants and strange, calculating zombies. Each one of them moved cautiously, listening intently for any sound. Rick kept a close eye on their surroundings, his jaw clenched as he gestured toward their makeshift barricade. "If we're going to last, we have to stay sharp. Those things… they're changing."
Sarah nodded, eyeing the dense forest with apprehension. Her body ached from the fight, but she tightened her grip on her weapon. "We're not dealing with just zombies anymore," she muttered. "It's like the whole forest is alive… hostile."
As they prepared to set out, a subtle tremor beneath their feet warned of something more dangerous. A network of roots and mushrooms, barely visible, crept closer from the forest edge, their tendrils pulsating with toxic spores that glowed faintly in the dim light. Leo stumbled back, nearly stepping into a cluster of mushrooms that released a puff of spores.
Rick grabbed his arm, pulling him back. "Watch your step! These plants aren't just plants. They're... spreading somehow."
"Think it's connected to the zombies?" Sarah asked, casting a worried glance at Rick.
Rick's gaze hardened. "More likely, it's just another hazard. But we don't have the luxury of worrying about that now."

POV: Jenna
Jenna's senses tingled as she moved through the forest, Carl close behind. She glanced at the carnivorous mushrooms dotting the ground, their glowing spores casting an eerie light over the twisted roots crawling through the earth. She hadn't expected the forest to evolve so quickly.
"Seems like these plants don't like intruders," she murmured, watching as the tendrils curled, almost as if they sensed her presence. She had to be careful; even though she was technically "undead," there was no guarantee she was immune to whatever was mutating this forest.
Carl's voice cut through her thoughts. "These humans are panicking, but that only makes them easier prey. The toxic plants could make this place a trap for them."
"Maybe," Jenna replied, her eyes narrowing. "But I can't help thinking we need to get to the source of this mutation. If these humans stumble onto it, they might set off something even worse."
Carl frowned, sizing her up. "So, you're suggesting we protect them?"
"No, just keep an eye on them," Jenna said quickly. She turned to continue forward, trying to ignore Carl's skeptical look. "Besides, if these plants can take down humans, they can probably take down zombies too."
Carl grunted in agreement, and they moved through the shadows, keeping pace with the human group from a distance.

POV: Sarah
The fog seemed thicker, heavier. Sarah wiped the sweat from her brow, trying to shake off the dread that weighed on her like a lead blanket. She could swear she felt eyes watching her from the treetops, but every time she looked, nothing was there—just those ominous clusters of mushrooms, always waiting.
"Keep your eyes on the ground, everyone," Rick's voice was a faint whisper.
As they pressed forward, Leo's voice suddenly broke the silence. "Over there!"
A low growl echoed through the trees, and a mutated wolf, its eyes glowing an unnatural green, prowled from the shadows, its mouth dripping with a strange, dark liquid. The animal's body was marked with patches of fungi, its fur matted with pulsing roots that seemed to bind it to the forest floor.
The group froze, horrified as the wolf lunged, the toxic vines flaring as it moved, almost as if the plants themselves were feeding it strength. In a split second, they raised their weapons, preparing for yet another life-or-death struggle.
