Chapter 30 - Cursed Sword

The sword is now stuck in the center of the "Arena", embedded in the ground. The sword appears to be a bastard sword, but its dark tone gives off an evil aura, as if it were pure darkness.

'The sword...spoke?'

"What are you staring at, bitch? I know I'm beautiful, but you don't have to keep gawking."

Soon, a vein of anger appears on my forehead.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think I understand..." My anger doesn't cloud my judgment this weapon spoke, which means it's a Special Grade weapon.

"So, not only are you a bitch, but you're also deaf?" The sword says in a contemptuous tone.

"You...Haaa" I breathe heavily.

'Calm down, stay calm, this sword could be useful.'

"Why would I be a bitch?" I question her, as she keeps calling me a bitch since the first time she saw me.

"Isn't it obvious? Not only are you deaf and blind, but you're also a pervert who walks around naked." Her arrogant tone irritates me.

"..." Realization soon hits me I'm completely naked. I had forgotten about that, as I didn't find it so relevant.

"It's not on purpose...never mind, who are you...and what are you?" This aura is anything but normal, and I feel a certain affinity with it.

"Ha, you're so blind you can't even see that I'm a sword, you bitch."

I bite my lips hard, clenching my teeth, and my desire to break this sword into pieces only grows. Her arrogant and disdainful tone fills me with hatred, and this sword better be strong for its own good.

"..." I wait while staring at her, and she soon decides to respond.

"Okay, okay, listen up, bitch. I'm Violet Darkness, an incredible, majestic, beautiful, and powerful cursed sword. Never forget my name, bitch."

"...I'm Pandora...and if you call me a bitch one more time, I'll break you into pieces." My patience has a limit, so I soon threaten her.

"...Hmph...so arrogant for a mere Demon King."

"...If you know I'm the Demon King, why do you act this way?" I can't understand the mentality of this arrogant sword.

"Unlike an immature Demon King like you, I am a grand sword formed by the aura of dozens of Demon Kings over millennia. There's no way I would give my respect to a childish brat who loses an arm to a mere Rank A puppet."

"I was out of mana..." I couldn't use magic to reinforce my body, so I fought using only my own power.

"Of course, of course, you were out of mana."

"This dungeon prevents mana recovery. If I had mana, I would have ended the fight with the first move." It's not a lie, although that puppet wasn't that strong, its purpose was to fight someone with depleted mana, so me defeating it was a considerable feat, given my lack of experience.

"Wait...you said the aura of various Demon Kings?" This caught my attention.

"Hmph, hmph..." She gives an arrogant snort.

"That's right, little girl. I was formed by the manifestation of the aura of various Demon Kings, so you should bow before my grandeur."

Now I understand why her aura attracts me it must be connected to me being the Demon King.

"You talk too much for someone who depended on the power of others to be born."

"W-What? That has nothing to do with it, Pandora. My formation doesn't define that I'm weak. In fact, my formation only shows how grand I am for withstanding the aura of so many Demon Kings."

"Over millennia, I was slowly formed by the fusion of all this aura until the day I gained consciousness, showing my grandeur as a sentient item."

"...Hmm...doesn't seem like much." In the end, it's a process similar to how a new hero gains the essence of immature dead heroes.

"Besides, this sword you're holding seems to be just common iron, in other words, trash."

"How dare you call the mighty me trash? I'm only temporarily bound to this sword. As soon as I have a better sword, I'll move on to it."

"Wait a minute...did you say...move on?" Thalor didn't say that was possible.

"I see you've grasped a part of my grandeur. Unlike other weak items that are stuck to their objects, the mighty me can go to other objects...as long as they are cutting weapons."

"I understand...well, I'm leaving now." The aura emanating from her is tempting, but clearly carries a curse. She also said she's a cursed sword.

I start walking to look for the hole I descended through.

"W-WAIT, are you just going to abandon me here? After having the luck to find something as incredible as me?"

"Yes...I'm not interested in a cursed item. I can get any good sword from one of my subordinates. I don't need you."

"...Of course, you're too weak..." She says with disdain in her voice.

"...What did you say?" I look at her irritated.

"That's right, you're too weak to be my wielder. I'll never stay with a weak master like you. Sho sho, get out of here. I'll wait for a true good one to appear." Her way of sending me away is as if she's shooing away a dog.

"You damned wretch, take back what you said." I speak to her annoyed, my voice clearly not holding back anymore.

"Take back what? A coward who's afraid of a little curse and doesn't even have the strength to lift me off the ground doesn't deserve respect," her mocking tone breaks my limit.

"Damn it, I'll show you who's the coward." I walk up to her and pull this cursed sword out of the ground.

"Urk" I feel a strange pain as a symbol is engraved on my right palm. A purple symbol that has a gloomy aura.

"..." The sword remains silent.

"..." I remain silent.

"DAMN IT, I'VE BEEN TRICKED!" I can't believe I fell for such a childish trick, it's humiliating to fall for such a trick after receiving political training.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA You're so stupid, now I'm fixed to you, we'll never separate until the day we die."

"..." I underestimated this sword too much, I didn't see it as a person, and that's why I fell for this trick, but it's good this way, at least it makes me more cautious in the future.

"What the hell kind of curse did you stick me with?"

"...A binding curse, we'll be trapped to each other for eternity...even after death...yes...after...death...DAMN IT, I FORGOT ABOUT THAT PART!" She starts speaking animatedly and arrogantly, but soon her tone changes to thoughtful, and as if she had an epiphany, she screams.

It seems that when she initially said we would be together until death, she had forgotten about the curse itself, and now we are bound together even after death.

"...HAHAHAHAHAHA" I laugh at the sword that fell into its own trap.

"..."

The sword remains silent, she seems sullen for having self-deceived and bound herself to me for eternity. Fortunately, the curse isn't that serious, although having to put up with this arrogant sword will be a challenge.

"THALOR I WANT TO GO, I'M OUT OF MANA AND CAN'T CONTINUE" I shout to Thalor, who I think is watching.

Soon I'm teleported to the castle.

"Welcome, Your Majesty...you reached the 149th floor in a secret room...although your method is a bit unfair, it's still within the rules, so I believe you passed this little test without any problems." Thalor says while fixing his gaze on the sword.

"Thalor, did you know about this sword that claims to have been formed by the aura of Demon Kings?"

"...No, but it doesn't seem like a lie. It really has an aura reminiscent of a Demon King...I didn't even know that was possible."

"Take it, Your Majesty, this is your graduation present." Thalor hands me a bastard sword, it has a reddish color.

"It's a Grade 7 sword made of blood rubies." I eagerly take it, but suddenly its beautiful red color is stained by pure darkness, becoming a black blade.

"..."

"..."

Thalor and I remain silent.

"YOU DAMN SWORD, WHAT DID YOU DO?" I yell at Violet, who screwed up my beautiful sword, although the black aesthetic is also nice, I didn't want that, I planned to keep this sword as a memento, but now she's ruined it.

"I didn't do anything..." She says in an evasive tone.

"Thalor, what's the best way to break a sword?"

"W-Wait a minute, crazy lady, okay, okay, I entered your sword, are you satisfied?" Her arrogant tone never wavers, even when she's the one who's wrong.

"Impressive..." Thalor says as he looks at the sword.

"What's impressive?" I ask with doubt.

"The sword's grade is the same...but the strength has increased a lot. I think the hardness of this sword competes with Grade 9 swords."

"...Okay, Violet, I won't punish you for doing this..." I say while holding the sword. If it had such a huge increase, then it's a good thing.

"Thalor, get another sword for Violet to transfer to, I want to understand how this works."

"Of course, Your Majesty. This is a Grade 5 sword, use it." I soon take the sword.

"Violet, can you enter this one? Then you'll go back to my sword."

"Hmph, who do you think I am? Of course I can do this." She says as she passes to the Grade 5 sword.

"..."

"...Thalor, you didn't answer me about how to easily break a sword," I say to Thalor as I see my Grade 7 sword melt after Violet left.

"C-Calm down, Pandora, I didn't know this would happen. Hmph, and it's the fault of this weak sword that couldn't withstand my...what are you doing...Pandora, don't do it, Kyaaaaa!"

I throw Violet against the wall as hard as I can. The blade cracks since I used all the mana I recovered during the time I was out of the dungeon.

"Y-You damn bitch, how dare you break me, the mighty me is not a...w-wait, Pandora" I go to her and pull her from the wall while trying to bend the sword to break it.

"S-Sorry, please don't break me, it hurts." She says in a slightly desperate tone, still arrogant, but it's acceptable.

"...Okay, I guess that'll do for now...Thalor, I want to eat something, send the kitchen to prepare my usual meal...and for dessert, I'll eat Grade 5 swords."

"..." Violet remains silent, understanding well that if she says anything stupid, she'll be part of my meal.
