Day 3.5
Intermission. The Day They First Met.
The ten year old Lauren managed to pull herself out of her closet when the fighting stopped. Her fell victim to the viscous rain that befell her hometown that day. No sooner had she left the closet did she become completely drenched.
She stared at the rubble in a lifeless daze, wondering where her grandmother was. What had happened to her home. As she pondered this she suddenly felt the rain stop. The clouds were still cascaded over the sky and the thunder still rumbled like a hungry beast. But the rain didn't hit her.
When she raised her face she saw him. She saw it. A monster among monsters that had the word "aberration" feel like a compliment. The monster had long curved horns that split in different directions like tree branches. Two beautiful wings sprouted from it's back. It's eyes were an abyss, the only light that found it's way through were the two pupils that seemed to tell the future.
This aberration stood in front of Lauren without speaking so much as a word to her. It stared intently and the young Lauren stared right back. She grabbed the aberration's hand and tugged at it. The aberration was taken aback, but it made no attempt to pull it's hand away. A flap of wings rung on the decimated landscape when a third party emerged. An angel.
She felt shocked as she witnessed the sight of what was happening. A human child was holding the hand of a full fledged demon. The child had no fear in her eyes, the demon held zero hostility towards the child. As the angel drew closer the aberration pulled a giant longsword from the ground. It was an act of war.
Come closer and I will kill you. It said
The angel drew a spear in response to the aberration's declaration.
"Mama?" said the young Lauren.
The angel was shocked. Lauren dragged the aberration towards the angel and grabbed the angel's hand as well.
"Uhm....." She stammered.
"You're my mama aren't you?"
The angel inhaled deeply. "Yes. Let's go home Lauren."
That was the day that Lauren got adopted by the Archangel known as Mary. The aberration later came to be known as Evan and since then he has taken on the mantle of Lauren's guardian. Wherever Lauren went, Evan wasn't far behind her. Whenever she was in danger, he'd always be there to protect her.
Nobody knew why Evan took on this role, they only knew the level of commitment he dedicated to her protection.
