Chapter 27: Aftermath
We fled the Shadow Net's headquarters, chaos magic still coursing through my veins. Emily's hand clutched mine, her eyes haunted.
"Tyler, I'm sorry," she whispered. "I didn't mean to put you in danger."
I pulled her close. "You didn't. They did."
Josh's team gathered around us, their faces grim. "We need to regroup," Josh said. "Reassess our strategy."
Billy's shape-shifting abilities allowed him to scout ahead, securing a safe house. Amanda's empathetic senses monitored the surrounding emotions, ensuring our safety.
Lyra's eyes narrowed. "Archon's desperate. He'll stop at nothing to exploit your chaos magic."
I nodded, determination burning within me. "We'll stop him. Together."
As we settled into the safe house, Emily's grip on my hand tightened. "Tyler, what you did back there... your chaos magic..."
I met her gaze. "I won't lose control again. I promise."
But the memory of purple-black energy ripping through the Shadow Net's operatives lingered. I knew the darkness within me was growing.
Josh's voice cut through my thoughts. "We need to discuss our next move."
Our strategy session began, each of us contributing our expertise. But I couldn't shake the feeling that Archon was already planning his next strike.
And I was the key to his sinister plans.
