Chapter 1 - Prologue- To an eternity

The world had been stripped of everything it once was. All of it, consumed. Consumed by a seething emptiness. Void stretched far and wide in this lifeless realm, only the darkness with its oppressiveness reigning undeterred in the empty world.

All of it gone, just like that.

I waited for the panic to set in, for the comfort of emotions to finally seize me away from the emptiness. I waited for anything that would assure me of my existence.

It never came. My humanity had already left me, taking with it any reason to care.

It was almost comforting really, the lack of everything. The chance to finally let go.

I shifted my attention outwards—or at the least, I tried to. No matter how far I stretched my awareness, there was nothing except the endless abyss to behold. Nothing except... me, to see.

Even if I could have, it was all gone anyway. The unheard roaring of stars, the gentle whisper carried by the breeze, the melodious cacophony of life, all of it had fallen still.

Even the familiar ticking of time had gone silent, its meaning eroded by the void. Only my awareness to the emptiness keeping me anchored. I was only a mere flicker of a consciousness in the unending sea of emptiness, yet there was something... something that kept me sane.

Finally, the unrelenting burden of my existence flickered, dulling my presence. It was not quite sleep, but enough for a moment of respite.

And so, another eternity slipped by—unchanging, and forever alone.
