All the examinees grouped up at the gates. There were multiple gates, which divided them. Izuku clenched his fist as he looked at the gates. His heart was bubbling with excitement.
' is it, young mortal—your dream—one chance. Falter, and what's the point of controlling me at all? Why cling to control when you could hand it over? Let me in, and I'll grant you power far beyond your grasp. A power you've only dared to imagine.' Chronos said.
'Fuck you' Izuku retorted.
'Oh~ Always quick to the rude words.' Chronos said, amused. 'HAHAHA!'
Izuku gritted his teeth. He took a deep breath and exhaled.
"ARE YOU GUYS READY?!" Present Mic's booming voice broke him out of his thoughts. "YEAH!" The students yelled simultaneously. "1. 2. 3. 4." Present Mic began counting as the gates opened. All the examinees collectively tightened their fists, some with anxiety, some with confidence.
"Aaaand... 5!" As soon as he finished his count, the examinees rushed into the area. Time Stop: Quick Travel. This was a move that differed from the usual Time skip. This move allows to time skip while time has been stopped whereas the usual time skip just makes you travel into the future where your other counterpart is living in time normally.
To the others, Izuku vanished. One moment he was at the gate, the next he was at the heart of the battle. He spotted a massive robot, just about to be destroyed by a student using sound waves. But Izuku saw something the student didn't—a weak spot, hidden precisely in the robot's leg.
Without hesitation, he tore the battery from its core and resumed time.
The robot collapsed, and the student blinked in confusion. Izuku gave a quick bow. "Sorry!" Then, with another Quick Travel, he vanished again.
Izuku reappeared a few meters away, scouting the battlefield. Six more robots. Two were already being handled, but four remained untouched. He sprinted toward the nearest one, dismantling it with ease—his knowledge of the battery locations made it easy.
Suddenly, an examinee came fleeing away from a robot—a boy with... tape?
Whatever.
A robot charged toward them, ready to attack. Time Stop. In an instant, Izuku disarmed the robot and resumed time.
The boy landed awkwardly. "Thanks, man! You saved me."
Izuku returned the smile. "No worries." Then, he ran off again.
At his speed, robots fell one after another under his relentless assault. "46... 47... 48..." he muttered. He had been counting his points.
A robot charged at him but his reaction speed was not comparable to a human. He quickly dodged the robot's ambush and climbed onto the robot, he shifted his weight and made the robot fall. He bolted to the robot's leg and took off the battery. "49.."
Suddenly, he heard a huge boom. He looked at the source of the sound and found a huge robot, trampling everything in its path. "HELP!" He heard the cries of someone. His mind was alarmed as he scurried to the sound.
He was ambushed by a large group of examinees who were escaping. "Get out of my way!" He yelled as he pushed them away. He saw a brunette girl stuck under the rubble.
He skipped to her and tried to lift the rubble but he could only make it budge. The girl tried to reach the rubble with her hands but was unable to. Izuku looked at the gigantic machinery in front of him. He gritted his teeth. 'Chronos... one minute.' Izuku called out the titan reluctantly.
'Yes~ Young mortal, is there something you require?' Chronos asked playfully. But the mockery was evident.
'I...I need your help.' Izuku said, clearly embarrassed.
'What a shame that I won't!' Chronos exclaimed as he chuckled.
Izuku sighed as he ran at the robot. The robot raised its foot high in an attempt to trample on Izuku... it wasn't gonna trample them but the pair thought otherwise. As soon as the foot came close to Izuku, Nezu, the principal of U.A., was ready to stop the machine but then.
"SWITCH!" Izuku yelled as he forcefully switched with Chronos, who stopped the robot in its place.
Chronos seized control of Izuku's body the moment the boy shouted, and everything shifted. The overwhelming pressure of time itself rippled through the air, and the massive robot's foot froze mid-stomp, its heavy machinery groaning under the sudden suspension.
"Ahhh~ Now this is interesting." Chronos's voice echoed, dripping with delight as he flexed his new vessel. "Such a fragile body, yet... what exhilarating potential."
Chronos's control expanded across the battlefield. Students were trapped mid-run, debris hanging in the air, and even the giant robot was nothing against the frozen flow of time.
The brunette girl, pinned under rubble, looked around in confusion—her mind still processing what she was seeing. Chronos glanced down at her, an amused grin forming on his lips. "Pathetic creatures..."
Then, Chronos swiped his hand through the frozen rubble. In a single motion, the massive debris was swept away. He stepped aside, watching the girl crawl to safety.
"Enjoy your fleeting moments, mortal." His tone was half-mocking, half-bored.
He grinned, letting the moment hang. Then, he flicked his hand.
The robot's body shattered. Not in the normal way, but as if it had been torn through multiple timelines—pieces of it dissolving into fragments and scattering across the battlefield like dust. To the other examinees, it looked like Izuku had made the hulking machine disintegrate with a thought.
"Done." Chronos exhaled through Izuku's mouth. He rolled his shoulders. "Ahh, I could get used to this."
Suddenly, Izuku's voice echoed within their shared mind. 'Switchback. Now.'
Chronos chuckled. "Come now, young mortal, aren't you enjoying this? The rush of true power? Why give it back when we've only just begun?"
'Switch.' Izuku's voice was firmer this time.
Chronos sighed, annoyed but amused. "Fine, fine."
In an instant, control shifted, and Izuku stumbled forward, catching himself just before falling. It had worked.
The girl looked at him, wide-eyed. "You… you saved me."
Izuku gave her a quick, nervous smile. "Just doing what a hero would. Can you walk?" Seeing her struggling movement, Izuku didn't wait for her response as he carried her on his back. "Let's go to the recovery girl. By the way, what's your name?" Izuku asked the brunette.
"Ochaco Uraraka..."
"Nice to meet you, Ochaco."
{Along with the heroes at the monitoring room}
All Might had the widest grin that he ever had, considering he was known for wide grins, this was something new.
"All Might, what happened to you?" Nezu asked.
All Might, still grinning, responded. "I know this young man, Izuku Midoriya. I met him the other day and I expected great things from him but I did not expect him to have this range of power within him. The fact that he risked his own life to save someone else tells us about his character. He is a hero."
Aizawa, who just witnessed all this, grinned slightly. "Nezu, I want this boy in my class."
Nezu was staring intently at the screen, "Registered Quirk: Chronos?" He muttered. He looked into the medical room. "Interesting boy..."
