Chapter 49 - Chapter 49

Chase's POV

I wasn't expecting Emma to react so low when I showed up to her room that morning.

It's the first time I had been able to get out of bed on my own in over three weeks.

She had been my primary caregiver, something I'm still yet to thank her fully for.

She and Gray were definitely not on the best of terms, but even he acknowledged how hard she worked for me.

I was expecting to see the light in her eyes, like I saw when I first opened my eyes a few days after the crash.

Broken and hurt, I went to Rudd.

As worthless as he was, I knew he still held the power to Emma making it into a good college, so I swallowed my anger, annoyance, and a little bit of my pride and entered his office without knocking.

"Glad to see you made it, Mr Chase." He said with no humor on his face,

I was too smart to buy his bullshit, so I went straight to the point..

"How much did she pay you to do that to an innocent girl?" I asked him.

I was struggling to keep my emotions under control.

Every bit of me hated him. There were very few things to like about him. He was an eye candy in his own rights, but that still didn't make him any less of an asshole.

"That's confidential information." He said, smiling.

"It would only be if I decide to ignore the news floating around." He looked alarmed.

"And what would that be?" Rudd lowered his voice and leaned forward.

I smiled.

"Well, between you and I, they don't really enjoy it when you hold them too tight. And don't chew on her clit so badly." I added. He blinked twice, alarmed. I nearly blurted out laughing, but my real business was yet to be done.

"What do you want?" He asked, irritated at the stories of his own trysts.

"You don't get to make me switch so fast. I'll get to that part, but I must cross this." I shit back at him.

"I did all those things." He said, baring his teeth. He kinda reminded me of wild animals when they saw prey. "Now what do you want, young man."

"It's quite simple actually. Emma gets an A, so do I. You hold your job, everyone wins." I stated, clearly.

"And if I refuse?" He asked, bunching his fists.

"Well, you could be sacked. That being the least of it. Further charges for rape and paedophilia too could be levelled against you." I said, smiling.

"Let's not act like we don't all know Jessica is far above what she claims to be." He whined.

"It would be stupid to doubt a woman's age, wouldn't it?" I replied, with the smug look still on my face.

"And what it's it for me?" He asked.

It felt like I was striking a deal with the devil.

"You mean besides getting arrested and locked up?" I asked.

"Yes." He leaned forward and said, shamelessly.

"Well, how about a transfer?" I proposed to him. "You leave this school and she leaves your neck?"

"That sounds perfect." He chirped, reaching for the scoresheet.

It might have to pass through a host of other desks, but I knew he was gonna do his all to push it.

"Jam the door behind you." He said.

I hit it so hard I'm sure he felt a mini earthquake on the office chair he was swiveling in.

I then went for classes, an impotent attempt at pretending everything was normal.

Rudd sure looked sacred enough, and I hope he acted asap.

By the time it was lunch break, a new scoresheet had been uploaded, with all my requests fulfilled, smiling. I went to Emma where I thought she'd be, beside Lily in the dining room.

I got there to discover Lily and Jessica sitting side by side.

I stayed back a bit, wondering what could have brought them together under such short notice.

I still had slight pains in my left, so I wobbled away.

I refused to use crutches. Emma kinda wanted to force me, but she's not been in the best of moods since the whole results thing happened.

I checked Emma in the bathroom, and she was most definitely there.

I started hearing sobs three feet away, from the men's bathroom.

"Emma?" I called and she answered.

She was still quite touchy after the whole thing, but I knew she was gonna melt.

I also knew it was the right time to start plowing my way through her heart.

Emma wanted no secrets. And to the best of my ability, I did that.

I guess I just saw the other stuff as things she could look over, so I didn't bother telling her.

Funny shit is how there's still a lot more news I'm privy to, on the outside than she threw me out for.

"Save that for someone who cares." I replied to her as she thanked me. "I'll show you how to thank me later." I winked and walked out.

I was determined to win Emma back, and nothing could stop me. Not the past, not the present.

"What the fuck are you up to?" I dragged Jessica to a corner and asked.

I wanted it to be as brief as possible with her. He had just stopped me to ask silly questions and was walking away.

"What does that mean?" She asked. "Matter of fact, don't talk to me. You just told me off."

"Yeah." I confirmed it. Jessica was bananas if she thought I was gonna be begging her for shit. "What's your game?" I asked her. I hated going through corners, I was pretty straightforward.

"What do you mean?" She asked, coyly.

"You know exactly what I mean." I replied to her.

"Well, my 'game' as you put it, is none of your mother fucking business. You silly cheap man whore." Jessica spat on my face, and walked out, for good.

I blamed myself for thinking anything good could come out of her.

I brushed my bruised ego up, cause it was almost the end of the school day. And I had plans.
