Chapter 6 - So Tiring...

"What exactly did you find out about Evan?" Alexis added, almost stuttering.

The look she saw on her sister's face told her that whatever her sister had discovered was far worse than she could have imagined.

"At the beginning, I realized he has been tampering with the company's fund, manipulating results and firing some old staff but as I probed further, it seems it goes beyond that. I can't really say what is going on, but he has been keeping in touch with your company's competitors." Isabella explained to her sister.

"As in, he meets with them every now and then, secretly." She added.

Alexis clenched her fists angrily.

"And why are you just telling me now?" She almost yelled at her sister.

"I wanted to get my facts right! I don't want to give you incomplete or incorrect information." Isabella said, looking remorseful.

"And besides, you love that man so blindly. I knew you would never want to think bad of him. And I knew you would be shattered. That was why I concluded I should get everything right before informing you." She added.

"Even at that, you shouldn't have kept that from me." Alexis said, shaking her head.

"Now that I am rethinking it, I am regretful that I didn't tell you immediately I found out. I should have told you about it. Maybe we would have been able to prevent some damages." She muttered, her voice low and regretful.

At that, Alexis couldn't say anything, she was just gritting her teeth in anger, most of it directed at her husband.

"That bastard!" She seethed.

"I am going to make him regret ever messing with me." Alexis swore then stood up and started pacing the room.

Isabella watched on in silence.

At that moment, Alexis' phone that was on the table beeped.

Isabella ignored it as first but it beeped again so she decided to check it.

It was a text from Evan.

"I am at home now, darling. Where are you?" The first message read.

"I am going to wait for you... I won't go anywhere until you come back home. I will be waiting patiently, let's sort everything amicably please." The second message read.

"You pathetic liar!" Isabella said, gritting her teeth.

Few seconds later, another text message entered. And this time around, it was from a different person.

Sabrina, the affair partner!

"What does that bitch have to say?" Isabella's eyes widened in surprise when she saw the ID. Then she opened the message.

"Can we meet and talk, please? I have something to tell you." The message read.

"How audacious!" Isabella clenched her fists and glanced at her sister. The latter was clueless to what was happening and was just pacing the room, lost in thoughts.

"She doesn't need to see this." Isabella thought to herself and immediately deleted the message from Sabrina.

Three days later; Sabrina was meeting with Evan at a restaurant close to the latter's house.

"Why did it take you long to get here? Your house to this place is like approximately three minutes drive." Sabrina pointed out as Evan arrived and sat opposite her.

"I am not supposed to leave the house until she comes back home. I told you." Evan replied, his face hardening. He didn't seem too happy to see her.

"What are you doing here? What if we are seen together again?" He asked her, looking around the empty restaurant to see if he would see any familiar face.

"Well, I told you I have something important to talk to you about." Sabrina replied calmly. At that, Evan was satisfied he couldn't see any familiar person so he faced her.

"You don't seem happy to see me... Are you tired of me already, just because your wife now knows about our affair?" She questioned, narrowing her eyes at him.

Evan huffed in exasperation.

"Come on, Sabrina. Don't add to my stress. I told you to give me time to sort out things between my wife and I, didn't I?" He asked her rhetorically.

"You know if I do not sort it out with her, I would be doomed. You know everything." He added and ran a hand through his hair in frustration.

Sabrina heaved a deep sigh.

"I have missed you. We haven't been in touch for days." Sabrina said out of the blues, taking Evan unaware.

Evan exhaled sharply.

"Seriously, Sabrina? Is this why you insisted I come out this early in the morning?" Evan asked in incredulity, staring at her as if she had lost her mind.

"And what's that with 'we haven't been in touch for days'? It has just been two days, Sabrina. Just two freaking days!" He added, getting worked up.

"Well, to answer your first question, the answer is no. I am not here only because I miss you. And secondly, two days are enough to miss your beloved." Sabrina stated rather calmly compared to the man gritting his teeth in anger before her.

"Whatever. Now, can you just tell me why you are here so I can go back home?" Evan inquired sharply.

"Very well." She responded then began to speak.

"I think you will have to go ahead with the divorce, Evan. As a matter of fact, you have to. As soon as possible." Sabrina said.

Evan's lips parted in surprise and he scoffed in disbelief.

"Do you know what you are talking about?" Evan asked, his voice rising.

"Do you know the consequences of that? Without Alexis, I am nothing. Have you perhaps forgotten about the plan we have?" He added, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"Of course not. Yeah, I know that is not our plan but now we don't have any choice." She replied, shaking her head. Her relaxed look told Evan she was about to drop a bombshell.

"Why?" He inquired further, his voice low as he steeled himself for what was about to come.

"I am pregnant for you, Evan." She announced.
