Chapter 5 The Man Of My Dreams
As the wolves left, the two men stood there staring at the old building.
"Don't tell me we're going to stay in that hut?" Zeb asked anxiously.
"Where else do you have in mind? Sagewood replied.
While they were talking, three women walked past them.
"Why are they staring at me like that". Zeb asked Sagewood noticing the way the women looked at him.
" I think they are admiring your good looks" Sagewood replied jokingly.
"Wait! And what's with their clothes, Why are they dressed like that? Don't tell me we transmigrated back to the ancient time". Zeb asked hoping it wasn't true.
"How about asking one of the ladies" Sagewood replied.
Zeb prayed in his heart, in frustration, hoping they didn't transmigrate back to the ancient times.
"I think there are two people approaching, they're coming this way, let's go and meet them, so that you can ask one of them about the current year. Sagewood said.
As they walked closer to the two men that were approaching, Zeb stopped them, excuse me please, what year is this, the Month, the day and the time?" He asked.
"He fell from the tree and hit his head on a stone, that's why he can't remember anything". Sagewood said seeing the way the two men were looking at them.
"Oh so sorry about that, we are in the year 1921, and today is Tuesday 15th of April". One of the men said.
"Oh my GOD! this is not true, How is that even possible? No! I think all of this is a dream". Zeb cried.
"What is he talking about", the men asked looking at Sagewood.
"I want to go back, I can't stay here, My parents are not even born yet, not to talk of Anna. How am I going to save them when they are not yet existing? Isn't it barbaric?
I just want to.... Sagewood covered Zeb's mouth to stop him from speaking further.
"He had a great fall, he's just blabbing, I think he needs immediate treatment, the effect of the fall must be too bad, his head is no longer safe. Thank you for your time, we are leaving first". Sagewood said dismissing any suspicions.
Sagewood still covering Zeb's mouth, finally let go when he saw the two men were out of sight.
"You talk too much, and it's not good. You need to control how you talk, or you will get us into trouble".
Sagewood said to Zeb.
"You heard them saying we are in 1921. How will I stay calm, when the people I came to save are not yet existing . We are in the ancient time, we transmigrated to the wrong time. Please let's go back". Zeb said in exasperation.
There's no going back, we have to stay till three weeks, after three weeks, we can go back to the present time. But for now let's find where we are going to sleep before night falls". Sagewood replied and started walking away.
Zeb lazily followed him.
After walking in no exact direction, Zeb stopped. "Am tired, I can't continue walking anymore.
"Am hungry! I need some food and water", Zeb said to Sagewood.
"Let's go hunting". Sagewood replied jokingly.
"Hunting? Hahaha, so which animals are we going to hunt, the talking animals"? Zeb asked recalling their recent encounter with the talking animals.
"That reminds me, how about using your magic to get us something to eat'? Zeb asked
"Even magic has its limit! I overused it today, it's stressed, and can't fulfill any requests till the next day. Sagewood replied.
"I keep learning and hearing new things everyday" Zeb lazily replied
"Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the two men, three ladies observed them from a little distance. One of them pointed at Zeb.
'He is my dream man; I've found my dream man!' one of the ladies exclaimed. 'My lady, you don't know that man. That's not how to find a husband,' another lady replied.
'I'm sure he is the one for me. Oh, my dear heart, he's coming closer! He's so handsome; the heart never lies,' the lady said.
'But my lady...' 'No but, he's the one. Call him for me!' the lady ordered. 'Yes, my lady,' the two maidens replied."
"Greetings Men of honour, our Lady over there wants to have a word with you". The two maidens said as soon as they got closer to the two men.
" You mean me"? Zeb asked pointing at himself.
" Yes please" the ladies replied.
"Is she the daughter of the president"? Zeb asked
"No" the two ladies replied simultaneously.
"But you called her 'my lady'; is she the daughter of a king? Zeb asked inquisitive to know.
"No, we don't have a king, nor do we have a president; we only have an emperor. And she is an Imperial Heiress, the daughter of the emperor," the two ladies explained.
Zeb looked at Sagewood and he nodded, giving him a go ahead look.
Zeb followed the two ladies to meet their Imperial Heiress, who was sitting down on a bench, typically used for resting when people get tired of walking, while Sagewood excused them.
'Please, seat the Imperial Heiress said to Zeb, smiling from ear to ear.
"I find you very attractive, you're the man of my dreams", the princess said.
"If only you know the man of your dreams is very hungry" Zeb said in his mind.
"Would you like to follow me? Let's go and meet my father, am sure he will accept you, you're so handsome", the princess said still smiling.
The two maids looked at each other in surprise , at her last statement, which they never expected.
"My lady that's not how to ...., one of the maids said trying to talk the princess out of her ideas but was cut off before she could finish.
"Leave us" the princess commanded and her two maids left.
Zeb, unable to believe his eyes didn't know what to say or do, he kept looking at Sagewood to see if he could come and rescue him.
"Sorry about the interruption' I am serious about what I said earlier, you don't need to say otherwise, just say yes, I won't cheat you, I've fallen for you at first sight. The princess said further.
While she was talking Zeb's stomach made funny noises. Are you hungry? Let's go to my house, I will give you food, there's enough food in my father's palace" the Princess said immediately she heard the noise coming from Zeb's stomach.
"Am not Hungry' Zeb replied, thank you for your kindness, you're very kind my princess". Zeb replied.
"We are hungry please " Sagewood said immediately emerging from nowhere.
"Let's go to my house then" the princess said with a grin and called her maids, "They are coming with us" she ordered.
"Let's go to my father's palace" the princess said to Zeb and Sagewood, and they followed her.
