Chapter 20 - The Great Evil

Suddenly, dark shadows swooped down from above, surrounding Goten, Trunks, and Eldaron. The figures that appeared had twisted features, with glowing red eyes and armor forged from a dark, mystical metal. Their presence radiated with sinister energy, proof of the Great Evil's corruption.

"Here they come!" Goten shouted, getting into a fighting stance.

Trunks nodded, fists raised, his eyes scanning their enemies. "Looks like they're not going to make this easy for us."

The warriors lunged forward, attacking with swift, powerful strikes. Goten dodged one attack, countering with a quick punch to his opponent's chest. Without the ability to transform, he had to rely on his agility and instincts, making each movement count.

Trunks found himself locked in a close-quarters clash with two of the dark warriors, blocking one strike and countering the other. "These guys are stronger than they look!" he grunted, forcing one of them back with a solid kick.

Eldaron stayed back, chanting softly as his staff glowed faintly, creating a protective aura to shield him. "Stay sharp, young ones!" he called out. "The Great Evil's magic has enhanced them beyond their natural abilities."

Goten dodged a flurry of strikes from a particularly agile warrior, finally countering with an uppercut that sent his opponent flying back. "We've got this, Trunks! Just keep pushing!"

Trunks grinned, blocking another attack before throwing a fierce punch. "Yeah, they're tough, but we've the strongest kids!"

The boys moved in sync, covering each other's weaknesses and combining their attacks to fend off the relentless dark warriors. They could feel the toll of fighting without their transformations, but their determination burned bright as they pushed through the exhaustion.

With a final coordinated strike, Goten and Trunks managed to knock the last of the dark warriors to the ground, leaving them panting but triumphant.

Eldaron stepped forward, his expression serious. "This is only the beginning. The closer we get to the heart of the darkness, the stronger its warriors will become."

Goten and Trunks exchanged a glance, their resolve even stronger. "Then we'll keep fighting," Goten said, his voice steady. "We came here to help, and we're not backing down now."

More dark warriors appeared from the shadows, surrounding Goten, Trunks, and Eldaron, their eyes glowing with a fierce intensity. The boys readied themselves, but it was clear the enemies were closing in fast, and exhaustion was beginning to set in.

"Goten, there are too many!" Trunks called out, struggling to block and counter multiple attackers.

Just as Goten was fending off two warriors at once, he remembered something he'd recently learned. He clenched his fists, focusing his energy. "Kaioken… times three!" he shouted, a red aura flaring up around him. He surged forward with newfound speed and strength, overwhelming the dark warriors with rapid strikes that knocked them back.

With his increased power, Goten fought his way through the mob, giving Trunks some room to breathe. He landed a powerful blow on one of the lead warriors, sending him flying backward. But as Goten took a deep breath, the toll of the Kaioken technique began to weigh on him slowly.

Trunks, struggling to keep up without any transformations, barely noticed one of the dark warriors sneaking up from behind. The warrior lunged, his weapon poised to strike.

Suddenly, a flash of silver cut through the air. An elf warrior, dressed in armor adorned with the same ancient symbols as Eldaron's robe, appeared behind Trunks, slicing the dark warrior clean in half. The elf warrior's movements were precise and fluid, his glowing blade leaving a trail of light as he stood, ready to defend.

"Aragorn!" Eldaron exclaimed, relief evident in his voice. "You're alive!"

Aragorn turned and nodded. "I couldn't abandon our realm in its darkest hour," he said solemnly, his voice resonating with quiet strength.

Trunks, still catching his breath, looked at Aragorn in awe. "Thanks… you saved me."

Aragorn gave a small smile. "You two have done well to make it this far. But the Great Evil's influence runs deep, and we'll need every bit of strength to overcome it."

Goten, panting from the Kaioken's strain, straightened up, determination still burning in his eyes. "Then let's keep going..."

The group finally reached the heart of the elf realm, where an ominous energy seemed to pulse through the air. Towering over them was the Great Evil a monster of unimaginable size, its twisted form as tall as a building. The creature's dark, smoky aura filled the sky, its green eyes glowing with a malevolent intensity that seemed to swallow all light around it. Tendrils of dark energy swirled around its body, making the air thick with a sense of impending doom.

Goten and Trunks gazed up at it, the sheer size of the creature daunting even their most courageous thoughts. This wasn't like any battle they had faced before; even their sparring and encounters with villains on Earth seemed trivial in comparison.

"So… this is the Great Evil," Trunks said, his voice barely a whisper as he clenched his fists. His usual confidence was dampened, but he forced himself to stand strong.

Eldaron, the wise old elf who had brought them to this realm, took a step forward, holding his wooden staff tightly. "This darkness has plagued our world for centuries. Its evil corrupts everything it touches, and it grows stronger with every moment. This fight will not be easy, young warriors. Be prepared."

Goten nodded, trying to shake off the unease. "If we can't transform, we'll have to rely on everything we've got. Trunks, you with me?"

Trunks gave a determined nod, though his gaze remained fixed on the massive creature before them. "Right. Let's do this."

The Great Evil let out a low, guttural roar, sending a wave of dark energy rippling across the ground, shaking the earth beneath their feet. Then, without warning, it raised one of its massive, clawed arms and brought it crashing down toward them.

The group scattered, barely dodging the impact. The force of the creature's arm striking the ground sent rocks and debris flying everywhere. Goten and Trunks rolled to their feet, their breathing quickening as they took in the sheer power of their opponent.

Eldaron and Aragorn, the elf warrior who had joined them, positioned themselves defensively. Eldaron chanted an incantation, creating a protective barrier of shimmering light, which held off the swirling tendrils of darkness that the creature unleashed upon them.

"Goten, Trunks," Eldaron called out, "you must aim for its core! It's the source of its power."

Goten and Trunks exchanged a glance, then nodded. Together, they charged forward, dodging the creature's attacks as they aimed for the green, pulsating orb at the monster's chest. Goten could feel his energy dwindling quickly, the oppressive atmosphere of the elf realm making every movement more difficult than usual.

Trunks launched a series of energy blasts toward the creature, hoping to weaken it. But each blast seemed to dissipate against the thick, dark aura surrounding it, barely leaving a mark.

"Nothing's getting through!" Trunks shouted in frustration, ducking under another massive swipe of the creature's arm.

Goten grit his teeth, frustration building. "We'll have to hit it harder." He steadied his breathing, focusing on the Kaioken technique he'd recently mastered. He pushed himself, calling out, "Kaioken times 20!"

A brilliant red aura surrounded him, flaring with intensity as his power surged. Goten rushed forward, the Kaioken amplifying his strength as he struck the creature's chest with everything he had. His fists connected with the green core, and for a moment, the creature staggered, reeling from the impact.

But then the Great Evil retaliated, lashing out with a burst of dark energy that struck Goten directly, sending him tumbling backward. The sheer force of the hit made his body ache, and he struggled to push himself up.

As the battle continued, the group was battered and exhausted. Goten struggled to stand, his body aching from the relentless use of Kaioken times 20, and Trunks lay nearby, barely conscious after his grueling attempts to defend against the monstrous attacks. They had given it their all, yet the Great Evil remained seemingly unstoppable, its dark aura looming even more menacingly.

Eldaron, seeing the dire situation, stepped forward with a determined gaze. He knew that only one hope remained for his world a chance that lay not in brute force, but in something far more rare. With his remaining strength, he stood before the towering creature, gathering his energy to protect the young warriors one final time.

"Goten, Trunks," Eldaron called, his voice filled with both urgency and warmth. He reached into his robe and pulled out an ancient scroll, handing it to Goten. "This map will guide you to something of incredible power a legendary fruit known as the Supreme Fruit."

Goten blinked, his hand shaking as he took the map. "A fruit? How can a fruit help us beat this thing?"

"This is no ordinary fruit," Eldaron replied, his voice weakening, yet filled with reverence. "The Supreme Fruit is said to have the power to evolve the strongest technique within the one who consumes it, pushing it to a level that can overcome any darkness. It grows in only one place in this realm, and there is only one fruit in existence."

Trunks's eyes widened in realization, his exhaustion momentarily forgotten. "So… if Goten eats it, his Kaioken…"

"Yes," Eldaron confirmed, a faint smile touching his lips. "With the Supreme Fruit, Goten's Kaioken would surpass its current limits, allowing him to reach a power capable of fighting even this great evil. But be warned finding the fruit is a dangerous journey in itself. Many have tried and failed."

The Great Evil let out another roar, preparing to strike again, its claws tearing through the ground as it advanced toward them. Eldaron turned, raising his staff to create a shimmering barrier of light that held the creature back momentarily. But the strain was evident, and he staggered, his body weakening with each passing second.

"Go now!" Eldaron urged, forcing himself to hold the barrier as long as he could. "Aragorn, take them. The future of our realm depends on you all."

With a heavy heart, Aragorn nodded, scooping up Goten and Trunks, carrying them away as Eldaron held the creature at bay. Goten looked back, watching as Eldaron's final stand illuminated the darkness, his sacrifice burning brightly in their hearts.

"Eldaron…" Goten murmured, clenching the map tightly. He knew what this meant the journey ahead would be perilous, but Eldaron's trust, his belief in them, was a gift they could not waste.

As Aragorn sped away, carrying the boys across the ruined landscape, Goten opened the map, examining the intricate markings that revealed the path to the Supreme Fruit. The journey would take them deep into the heart of the elf realm, through treacherous terrain marked by the dark influence of the Great Evil. But this was their only chance. If he could find and eat the Supreme Fruit, Goten might stand a chance at defeating the monster that had plagued this realm for so long.

The group vanished into the distance, Eldaron's light slowly fading as he gave his last breath to protect them. In the depths of the elf realm, an ancient power waited, and with it, the hope of a realm on the brink of collapse.
