Chapter 11 - "She's mine,only mine"

The darkness pressed in from all sides, thick and suffocating. Even the faint candlelight that had once filled the hall was now snuffed out, leaving only silence and shadows. Ella stood frozen, her heart pounding in her chest. She sensed it—a threat lurking just beyond, watching her every move.

A figure emerged from the shadows, his tall form stepping forward with ease and confidence. He was strikingly handsome, so much so that Ella's breath hitched. But it wasn't Adam—no, it was someone else. Yet somehow, he looked so familiar.

"Hi, Ella," the stranger said smoothly, his voice a low, teasing drawl. "I'm Drake. I think you must have heard of me."

Drake. Adam's twin brother. Though she had never met him before, she had heard whispers, stories of his rebellious nature and his absence from their world. She felt an undeniable pull toward him, as if some ancient bond connected them. Her steps froze as she gazed at him, her heart betraying her with its fluttering.

"What... what's happening?" she murmured, barely able to get the words out.

As if in a trance, Ella moved closer to Drake, feeling drawn toward him in a way that defied reason. Something about him reminded her of her homeland, the land of elves—a place she left long ago in search of someone she had once loved deeply. Her heart raced as she realized that *he* was the one she'd crossed worlds for, her first love. She had come here looking for him, yet somehow she'd met Adam instead and had misinterpreted the connection.

At that moment, Adam entered the hall, his eyes sharp and filled with a storm of emotions as he watched Ella and Drake's silent exchange. His jaw clenched. She could see anger flickering across his face, and his fists tightened by his sides.

Seeing Ella move toward Drake so willingly stung him deeply. The idea of her admiration being directed at anyone but himself made his blood boil.

Before Ella could process what was happening, Adam stormed across the room, his movements swift and determined. He grasped her arm firmly but not painfully, and with a quick, tense nod toward Drake, he said, "Excuse us."

"Let her go, Adam," Drake said coolly, crossing his arms. His smirk was enough to ignite Adam's temper even more.

But Adam ignored him and led Ella through the grand hall, past the surprised onlookers. The curious whispers of the guests grew louder, but he paid them no mind, his grip never loosening as they passed through darkened corridors and finally reached his private chambers.

With a strong, decisive push, he closed the heavy doors behind them, his gaze never leaving hers. His intense expression made her shiver.

"So, you think him handsome, do you?" Adam's voice was low, edged with frustration. "You're drawn to him—my *brother*, no less?"

"Adam, I didn't mean—" she stammered, trying to pull her arm free. "I never finished my vows to you, I… don't belong to anyone."

But Adam's eyes burned with jealousy and hurt. Without a word, he took off his coat and moved closer, his presence overwhelming as he whispered, "You have no idea what it's like to see you with him. But let's see if you still feel the same."

With a sudden motion, he reached for the zipper at the back of her dress, pulling it down just enough to make her blush, a rush of warmth flooding her cheeks. In her embarrassment and surprise, she instinctively transformed, her true self revealed. Small, delicate features, pointed ears, and a shimmering aura surrounded her—a tiny, ethereal elf in a grand, human world.

"Oh, my little elf," Adam murmured, his eyes softening despite his anger. He leaned in, his breath warm against her skin. His grip softened, his fingers gentle on her waist.

"Adam," she whispered, blinking back tears, her voice trembling. "Please, let me go."

The sound of her quiet, desperate words pierced through his anger. Slowly, he released her, stepping back as he wrestled with his emotions. Her hurt was all too clear, and his anger melted into regret.

Silence filled the room. She watched as Adam turned and left, his figure disappearing through the door, leaving her alone in the quiet chamber. For a long time, Ella sat there in the dark, her heart heavy and her mind racing. The only sound in the room was her own breath, as she took in everything that had just happened.

Outside, a gentle knock interrupted the quiet. A young attendant named Lysandra entered cautiously, her gaze kind but worried. "Are you alright, my lady?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ella nodded, though she knew she was anything but fine. Lysandra gave her a reassuring smile. "There's so much happening, but please know—you're not alone here."

A comforting warmth spread through Ella's chest. Despite the complex twists of fate and conflicting emotions, at least she wasn't completely alone. As she looked toward the door, the shadows seemed less daunting, and she braced herself for the battles yet to come
