Chapter 38: The Invitation from Mrs. Yuigahama

Because of this reason, Shunsuke understood Yui's actions and wasn't angry.

Well, this is a privilege limited to a select few; if it were someone else lacking in inherent advantages, they would understand but not forgive.

"Sable, ah, the dog you saved, Shun-kun, Sable is now very healthy, and my mom is grateful to you. She keeps telling me to invite you over to thank you in person."

Yui fiddled with her snack: "Mom really... Shun-kun, you must find that bothersome, right? After all, going to the house of a classmate you hardly know and meeting their parents... so I—"

"Not a problem at all." Shunsuke held her snack with genuine sincerity, "Since your mom is so enthusiastic, how could I, as a junior, refuse? Tell me, Yui, when is it?"

"Y-Yui?"

Yui's eyes spun around as if she were dizzy, her mind racing with thoughts.

—Shun-kun actually called my name directly, how proactive of him.

—Could it be that Shun-kun has been paying attention to me all along? Was saving Sabre partly for my sake?

—Ah, what should I say if Shun-kun makes a move?

Though she may have been overthinking, she didn't dwell on it too much.

However, if Shunsuke knew her thoughts, he would have to say: Young lady, right now, you're merely an accessory.

The true main dish is actually Mrs. Yuigahama.

Mrs. Yuigahama, a goddess of sorts in the world of "My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU," has massacred the leaderboard on a certain P site.

Among the images collected, 25 have over 50,000 favorites, with 19 featuring Mrs. Yuigahama, 5 featuring snacks, and the last being a picture of her and her daughter together...

After that, no other images on the leaderboard have even surpassed 20,000 favorites...

Mrs. Yuigahama: To everyone here, I'm not targeting anyone specifically; aside from my Yui, everyone else is trash.

Shunsuke was already excited, astonished that the "thief" was himself!

Yui was startled by his excited little gaze.

Shunsuke pretended to cough seriously: "Yui, if you call me Shun-kun, then it's fine for me to call you Yui, right? This name Shun-kun, besides Yui, only belongs to one other person in this world, so I'm technically at a loss here."

"Is... is that so?"

Even though there were many complaints in her heart, on the surface, Yui was still persuaded.

This is the trait of the indecisive girl. If boys were a bit more assertive, it would be quite easy for them to find girlfriends.

However, the problem is that boys raised in such an environment are mostly herbivores, typical useless male protagonists who have nothing going for. These guys simply can't be assertive.

As a result, they end up with no girlfriends.

"Shun-kun, let me know when you're free. Mom said she'll cook for you."

Shunsuke thought for a moment. He definitely couldn't invite Koizumi for ramen today, and the weekend was filled with plans: meeting an online friend, making money with Hiiragi, and a date with Mashiro—he wouldn't have any time. So he replied, "How about after school tomorrow, Friday?"

"Alright, I'll tell Mom that."

Yui nodded lightly.

Just then, the class bell rang, and the two of them returned to the classroom, one after the other.

"Yui, where did you go after class? I wanted to find you to go to the restroom, but I couldn't find you," Yumiko asked Yui, her sharp hearing picking up the conversation.

"I needed to ask Hiratsuka-sensei about something. Sorry, Yumiko," Yui apologized with her hands together.

Yumiko twirled a strand of her blonde hair with her finger: "It's alright. Next time, Yui, you can tell us ahead of time or call us to go together."

"Yeah, I understand."

—Ah, girls really are impressive.

Hachiman, who wore an expression as lifeless as a dead fish, quietly observed and unintentionally discovered the "truth," letting out a sigh.

...

After school, Shunsuke packed his things and prepared to check out the club activities when a dazzling blonde-haired Koizumi approached his desk without a trace of hesitation.

"Koizumi-san?"

"Hurry up."

"Hurry up with what?"

"You said you would treat me to ramen."

Koizumi's tone rose slightly, though no one but Shunsuke noticed.

"Koizumi-san, you're too impatient. Didn't we agree on a time? I'll be ready then, so you don't have to wait; you can just come and eat."

"Waiting is part of enjoying ramen."

"Is that so? But I have something to take care of right now."

"Is it more important than ramen?"

"No... but it's something Hiratsuka-sensei specifically asked me to do."

"..." Koizumi fell silent for a moment before saying, "Then I'll go with you."

Shunsuke thought for a moment and replied, "Alright, let's do that."

As the two of them walked out of the classroom together, the once-quiet classroom erupted into a buzz.

Misa exclaimed, "Damn it, Koizumi was planning this all along to try to outdo me!"

Yumiko added, "Koizumi may seem clueless, but I didn't expect her to be so skilled—she's relying on Fujii to compete with me?"

Rivalry brews when popular girls are concerned; among those in the spotlight, there are always enemies.

Koizumi's actions made the two most popular girls in class feel threatened. However, she was completely oblivious to this fact.

....

Shunsuke first took Koizumi to Mashiro's classroom. Most of the students had already left, but Mashiro was still sitting in her seat, looking somewhat dazed, while Eriri had not yet left either.

"Mashiro, I'm here."

Shunsuke called out from the doorway.

Mashiro slowly stood up, and Eriri turned her head as well.

"Shun—wait! Who's that?" Eriri exclaimed in surprise upon seeing the beautiful blonde-haired Koizumi.

"This is Koizumi-san, my classmate and my ramen-eating partner," Shunsuke introduced. "Koizumi-san, this is Sawamura Eriri, my childhood friend, and this is Shiina Mashiro, my pet girl."

Even though Koizumi caught the odd term "pet girl," she remained unfazed, calmly meeting Mashiro's gaze as if they were mirroring each other.

Eriri was all smiles when she heard how Shunsuke introduced her, but her expression changed when he introduced Mashiro.

Watching the two girls, who showed no signs of disturbance, she momentarily began to question whether the issue lay with her.

"Shunsuke, what are you two up to?"

Seeing the striking resemblance between Koizumi and Mashiro filled Eriri with a sense of unease.

"I was pushed by Hiratsuka-sensei to join a club, and I'm planning to check out the Classical Literature Club. Koizumi-san came along because I invited her to my house for ramen today."

Shunsuke calmly stated what made Eriri uneasy.
