Chapter 1 - I'm Dead and Crazy.

...

Streaks of blue lightning flash above the sky, being accompanied by the deafening sounds of thunder as bright light follows soon.

On the wet ground, beneath the canopy of a huge tree, within the periphery of a seemingly endless forest, a teenager covered in purple bruises and wearing tattered clothes could be seen breathing weakly. His eyes tightly closed as a weak murmur, containing traces of fear and despair, could be heard from his mouth.

AHHH!

After a period passed by, the teenager's battered arms, which were covered in thick callouses, suddenly twitched. His eyes abruptly opened before releasing a shout of despair.

Sitting abruptly, the teenager hurriedly scanned his surroundings in panic... only to unfold disbelief in his brown eyes upon seeing the familiar yet unfamiliar environment.

"This... I'm still alive? How is that possible?!

"Didn't I receive grievous wounds in my chest?"

Touching his chest where the injuries and pain were supposed to be placed, Araw couldn't help but reveal shock in his pale face—it's gone, the wounds were gone!

Slumping toward the wet ground, unable to believe the thing that occurred to him, the teenager began to laugh miserably... Within the corner of his eyes, traces of tears silently fell down, drenching his face with salted water.

"I... I actually came back from the future! HAHAHAHA!

"Who would have thought that I still had a chance to change my fate?! Those hateful bastards, I couldn't believe that they would abandon me in the end. How pathetic! I should have left the clan when I was still a teenager."

Looking at the familiar thick calluses on his palms due to the heavy work that he had done since he was a child, Araw couldn't help but fall silent, pondering deep within himself as the memories of his past life began to overlap within his still shaken mind.

Due to his father, who married a mortal—going beyond the interest of the clan and how they died when he was still a child—the people from the clan never favored his existence, to the point that his weight fell short to those slaves of the clan.

Nevertheless, his inexperienced self was still hopeful that one day the people from the clan would change their minds after he worked hard for their interests.

Soon, a couple of decades of hard work passed by, and although his status never rose after working tirelessly, it still allowed him to gain considerable contribution points that he exchanged for a cultivation technique.

Hoping to change his fate by cultivating.

However, absurdly enough, he never expected to be played with at the end. Instead of a complete cultivation manual, the clan only gave him an incomplete manual, a manual that didn't even reach the standard to be graded, making his helplessness reach new heights.

How could he, a middle-aged man who was already far from the golden age of cultivation, step on its road if he was given an incomplete cultivation manual?

Simply put, it was almost hopeless!

However, even though that was the case, Araw never gave up the glimmer of hope he held inside his heart—just what if, what if I still have a chance?

Hence, without any resources, he still worked hard in cultivating his physique and was fortunate enough to advance toward the 2nd stage of the Body Tempering realm at the age of 38... Further reigniting the hope within his heart.

Unfortunately, before he could think that his life would finally turn into better, his high hopes were suddenly extinguished due to small mistakes. He never expected that he would accidentally offend a young genius from the clan.

Funny enough, even without knowing the truth, the clan mindlessly sided with the genius. They even tortured him just to quench the anger of the youth!

It was simply ridiculous!

In the end, after being tortured for days, he was eventually killed by the so-called genius. Araw still remembered the disdain in the eyes of the latter, as if looking at trash when he succumbed to his death. It was simply hateful.

Sigh~

Sighing deeply, finally regaining his composure, Araw silently stared at the gloomy sky, his eyes filled with confusion and hesitation.

His emotion told him to exact his revenge, but, at the same time, his mind just felt tired, as if he had already suffered enough and didn't want to further fall into the abyss—this time, he wanted to live for his own and not for those hypocritical clan members of his.

This time, he wanted to cultivate in peace and experience the beauty of life if possible! He wanted to experience what it was like to live on his own!

"Exacting revenge is just tiring; furthermore, even if I wanted to, it was almost impossible with my current strength.

"Not to mention that even if I cultivated for dozens of years, I wouldn't be able to fight the elders of the clan, who favored that bastard..."

Groaning uncomfortably, Araw stared at the bruise on his body with mixed emotion and pain. If he remembered correctly, this was the day when he was bullied by those teenagers from the clan—they actually used him as their punching bag to try their newly learned skills; luckily, they only reach the first stage of the Body Tempering realm, or else his injuries might be worse.

"I should escape right now and hide far away from here; with my status, those people would only notice my absence after I vanished for weeks or months."

Shing!

However, just as he was about to stand up from the wet ground, a sudden detached voice, filled with ancientness and giving a deep sensation of non-living, resounded within his consciousness, causing his soul to be shaken greatly.

[ Congratulations upon successfully binding the Way of Divine Teaching System. As a reward, you will be able to choose one of the rewards from below.

"This. Who are you?!"

Feeling chills creeping throughout his body, Araw abruptly looked around him in panic and fear, unable to understand how the emotionless voice entered his mind magically.

Moreover, after the voice finished speaking, unknown words that he could perfectly understand appeared in the corner of his sight—making him feel a deep sensation of unreal, to the point that he began to think that something bad happened to his mind, causing him to begin hallucinating.

"This is probably the payment for me transmigrating to the past.

"Huhu~ transmigration damaged my brain, causing me to see things; my dream could no longer be reached..."
