Chapter 13 - 013 I'm not selling

"Mr. Ye..." Wen Nuan softly called, breaking the silence of Ye Feimo, his eyes' tenderness dissolving drop by drop until it was replaced by utter coldness and absolute indifference.

It was intimidating.

Ye Feimo leaned down and gently kissed her lips. His kiss was gentle and intoxicating, lacking any roughness, and she harbored the illusion of being cherished.

Quickly, his lips left hers.

He got up, sat on the carpet, and leaned back against the sofa.

Wen Nuan was startled but quickly sat up, wrapping herself with a bath towel.

The atmosphere was deathly still.

Ye Feimo sat with his eyes closed, wearily leaning against the sofa, his brow marked by an indissoluble heaviness and... loneliness.

Especially at night, it was all the more evident.

As if abandoned by someone.

Wen Nuan scoffed. He was born into a wealthy family, gifted with both talent and looks, possessing what every man had and even what they lacked. Aside from his awful personality, he could be considered perfect.

How could someone like him be abandoned?

"Be my woman!" Ye Feimo repeated once again, opening his eyes and staring straight at her. Wen Nuan was taken aback by his stunningly bright eyes and quickly turned her face away, looking down.

Wen Nuoxin felt a touch of annoyance, was he treating her as a substitute for someone else?

"I sell laughter, not my body," Wen Nuan said with a smile that carried a chilly undertone. What kind of prince would a Cinderella like her expect? Princes are found in fairy tales, and even if she were a Cinderella, she was one with spine.

She had said that very line during the first half of the semester when she accompanied a senior classmate to Huayun Entertainment for an audition for a spy drama, a major production. The director gave her a surprised glance and let her audition for a minor role, lasting merely three minutes, as an Old Shanghai dancer who earned her living by making people laugh.

But the auditioning director was a jerk, who later invited them to the hotel on the pretext of discussing details. Wen Nuan naively believed his lies at the time and really went with her senior. However, what she faced was the expectation to sleep with investors.

The absurdity and mess of the entertainment circle were beyond Wen Nuan's expectations, but she never thought that one day she would be pressured by the casting couch.

That pig-headed director even wanted a threesome, to which Wen Nuan coldly retorted, "I sell laughter, not my body," before storming out, slamming the door.

As a result, the senior classmate landed the role.

The movie was a hit, and her senior's career took a smoother path; she is now an up-and-coming new talent.

She lost an opportunity, but had no regrets.
