Saint Sun Noble School
This was a prestigious school well-known throughout City C, comprising both an elementary and a secondary school division.
As a noble school, it naturally had flawless facilities, including a piano room, a dance room, an etiquette room, a swimming room… everything a child from a wealthy or noble family could need for their education.
After finishing his meal, Lai Bao patted his round belly, ready to head back to his dormitory for a sweet nap.
"Wen Laibao!"
A gentle voice called out from behind him.
"Ye Yiqian, are you calling me?"
Lai Bao turned around to see a pretty girl who looked like a doll standing in front of him. He asked uncertainly, considering they were in the same class but had never spoken a word to each other before.
The girl nodded and handed him a small box of cherries, friendly telling him, "Here, eat these."
"Just tell me what you need, and I'll help you."
Lai Bao knew Ye Yiqian must want a favor, but as a foodie, he couldn't resist the temptation of cherries.
Sure enough, the girl pulled out a pretty pink envelope from behind her back, shyly saying, "Please, could you deliver this letter to Mu Bai for me?"
"Sure, no problem."
Lai Bao expertly took the letter—it was already the third time this week.
When boys gave him gifts, it definitely meant they liked him; when girls gave him gifts, it meant they wanted to gain Mu Bai's favor through him or to have him deliver letters. This was the conclusion Lai Bao had drawn over the past two or three years.
The girl nervously instructed, "You must hand the letter to Mu Bai personally, okay?"
"Don't worry, leave it to me."
Lai Bao patted his chest, his pink, round face beaming adorably, his big eyes clear and bright.
The pink envelope, adorned with cute cartoon designs, smelled delightful as he held it up to his nose.
Accepting someone's gift meant running errands for them. Someone said he had gone toward the swimming room, so Lai Bao immediately headed there. Seizing a moment when the coach wasn't looking, he sneaked into the swimming room, only to find it utterly deserted.
The empty swimming room, with several long pools, felt somewhat cold as the sunlight could not fully penetrate inside.
"He's not here; where on earth is Mu Xiaobai?"
Lai Bao muttered to himself and was about to leave when he heard a splashing sound. He turned around but saw nothing, so he ran towards the other end, calling out, "Mu Bai, Mu Bai, are you there?"
In a corner of the pool, Lai Bao saw a boy struggling underwater, his leg seemingly entangled by something, continuously pulling him down.
"Mu Bai, are you having a leg cramp?"
Lai Bao cried out anxiously from the side—after all, Mu Bai was the fastest swimmer in their class.
He called out, then quickly grabbed a lifebuoy, slipped it over himself, and jumped into the water. The water wasn't deep, and reaching down, he grabbed Mu Bai's struggling hand and pulled him up out of the water.
Mu Bai coughed violently, his face—finer than any girl's—turning pale and bluish, clinging tightly to the lifebuoy with one hand and gripping Lai Bao's arm with the other.
A tear welled up in Lai Bao's nose. He embraced him and gently patted his back, comforting him, "It's okay, it's okay, don't be afraid, I'm here!"
"Let's get out of here, quick."
As soon as Mu Bai regained his strength, he immediately led Lai Bao out of the swimming room, sneaking through the tall flowers behind.
The midday sun was intense. After running for a while, the two finally stopped under a magnolia tree.
"Are you all right?"
Panting, Wen Laibao was a bit chubby and quickly got exhausted from running.
Mu Bai shook his head, still dazedly staring at him as if he hadn't quite recovered from the shock. But his pretty face was regaining some color, and his slightly curly hair still dripped water, making him look like a melancholic little prince.
