Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 Would You Rather Marry Me

The sedan was bathed in a cold, dazzling sheen, with black tinted windows that made it impossible to see inside. Furthermore, the car body was blast-proof. The aide in the driver's seat stepped out and then opened the rear door.

Mi Yao first saw a pair of black military boots, followed by a pair of impressive long legs, then the lean waistline and the straight back. The black, thin wool coat highlighted an aura of abstinence.

Finally, the man's face came into view.

Mi Yao's brain "boomed" as if exploding. She stared at that face, delicate and handsome, absolutely flawless—if he were to walk down the street, he could make all the girls scream.

But all she felt was shock, fear, dread.

It was him!

The man she had spent the night with!

It was actually him!

He was Feng Zhengyu's brother, Feng Yueming, the commander of Z country?

Mi Yao shook her head, feeling that the heavens must be playing a massive joke on her.

...

The servants stood at a distance, bowing respectfully, as Miao Erlan greeted him with a smile, "Yueming, you're back? You must have had a tough year running around outside."

Feng Yueming entered, Vice Officer Li took his coat, and he glanced indifferently at Miao Erlan before stepping into the living room with his black military boots.

Miao Erlan's face stiffened at being ignored.

Feng Yueming scanned the living room and when he saw Mi Yao, still in a daze, he stopped. His deep, lustrous eyes fixed on her face with an indifferent and mocking gaze.

"Yueming, let me introduce you, this is Mi Yao, and the day after tomorrow she will be your sister-in-law." Miao Erlan hurried over, her face beaming with a smile, "Mi Yao, this is Zhengyu's brother, you can call him Commander Feng."

Mi Yao's pale face, then she stammered out, "Commander Feng."

Feng Yueming raised an eyebrow slightly, his thin lips quirked, "Big... sister-in-law?"

He lingered intentionally on the title, as if to mock her.

Mi Yao's hands at her sides clenched into fists, even her heart thumped erratically—she had actually slept with Feng Zhengyu's brother last night, and now he was before her.

Would he speak out of turn?

When he left this morning he said, "We'll meet again." She always felt he had a purpose in coming.

"Big sister-in-law, why are you staring at me like that? If I didn't know better, I'd think you... had feelings for me," the man spoke.

Mi Yao's heart skipped a beat; she knew he had come to cause trouble.

Just as she predicted, Miao Erlan's suspicious gaze lingered on her face.

After all, being the wife of a dead man was a challenging duty.

Mi Yao quickly curled her beautiful lips into a smile, "Commander Feng sure knows how to joke. I just didn't expect Zhengyu's brother to be the renowned Commander Feng. Your reputation precedes you, and now that you stand before me, of course I couldn't help but take a second look."

"Oh, is that so? Can I take my big sister-in-law's words to mean, if you had met me before my older brother, you would rather... marry me?"

Mi Yao stiffened instantly; his question was too straightforward and too aggressive.

Miao Erlan's expression was not great either. Clearly, Feng Yueming was flirting with her future daughter-in-law right in front of her. Yes, her son was dead, but she was still alive!

"Yueming, what Yaoyao means is..."

"I'm asking her, is she mute, that you need to answer for her?" Feng Yueming's indifferent glance swept towards Miao Erlan.

Miao Erlan's face changed color, he was really not giving her any respect!

The atmosphere quickly froze. Mi Yao immediately intervened to smooth things over; she didn't want any accidents before the wedding, "Commander Feng, you misunderstand me. What I mean is, I admire you, but Zhengyu is my fiancé, and I love and respect him."

Her answer couldn't have been more watertight. Feng Yueming looked at her with a smile, not quite laughing.
