Chapter 31 - Challenge

Ren knew how to use spiritual energy since he was in his previous life, so it was not hard to force some people to kneel on the ground with his energy alone, especially if the target was weaker than him.

Lexie glanced at Glen and his friends before finally walking forward and approaching Ren.

"It's fine." Lexie was not angry at Ren because, from her point of view, it was not his fault.

Glen and his friends disturbed him when he was talking with Heidi.

They even slandered him and tried to make him look like a bad person, saying he was trying to cause trouble or something along these lines.

She believed anyone would also feel annoyed and angry if they were in his shoes, so she could understand his actions.

When Heidi came to her senses, she spoke, "Mister Ren, please follow us to the private room. We will discuss the mission there."

"Alright," Ren responded as he smiled.

Glen and his friends rose to their feet when Ren stopped forcing them to kneel on the ground.

Even though they were furious, they did not yell at him like before.

All they did was clench their fists and stare at him with their bloodshot eyes.

Ren could force them to kneel on the ground with only his energy, so they knew the difference in strength between them was like heaven and earth.

'Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!'

They cursed venomously as they stared at Ren.

Like Glen and his friends, the onlookers also did not stop Ren.

Glen and his friends were stronger than them, yet they could not do anything to him, so they knew it was better to remain silent.

When Ren was about to go to the private room with Lexie and Heidi, a voice suddenly rang out.

"Stop! I also want that mission." A bulky man with a big axe on his back walked toward them.

His red hair danced softly in the wind, and he walked arrogantly as if he were the city lord of Nightshire City.

Glen and the others instantly shifted their gaze toward the bulky man because they wanted to know who he was.

'Do you know who he is?'

They exchanged glances with each other as they tried to find out the identity of the bulky man.

Lexie and the others stopped their footsteps and turned around. They did not say anything and only stared at the bulky man.

"Lady Lexie, I want to take that quest. I'm an awakener at the Master rank." The bulky man did not show any respect to Lexie because they were at the same rank. "Hire me, and I will help you get the magical herb without being injured."

"Sorry, mister, but I've already found someone who can help me get the magical herb." Even though Lexie was unhappy with the bulky man's behavior, she still smiled at him.

Of course, she was not afraid of him.

She suppressed the feeling of annoyance in her heart because it was better to avoid unnecessary problems.

"Do you mean him?" the bulky man asked as he pointed his right index finger at Ren.

"Yes." Lexie preferred Ren to the bulky man, so she indirectly rejected the bulky man.

"Hey, I'm Liam. Do you dare to fight me?" Liam challenged Ren to fight him because he wanted to show Lexie that he was stronger than Ren.

He believed she would change her mind after he defeated Ren.

[Host, it seems like your path to obtaining the skill book and one hundred gold coins is not easy.]

'It's fine because this is also a good opportunity to make some money.'

Ren replied in his head.

[What do you mean by that, Host?]

Ren did not answer the question and only stared at Liam.

"Why don't you answer my question? Are you afraid of me?" Liam wore a smug face when Ren did not answer his question immediately because he thought Ren was afraid of him.

"Hey, accept the challenge if you are a man."

"That's right. Accept it."

"Or are you someone who only fights opponents of lower rank?"

"Accept it if you are not a coward."

Glen and his friends tried to force Ren to accept the challenge.

At this moment, they were thrilled.

They could not defeat Ren, but Liam seemed strong enough to defeat him.

If Liam could defeat Ren, they only needed to mock him and they would have regained their previous reputation.

Lexie did not help Ren immediately because she wanted to know how he would handle the situation.

"What?! Are you going to reject my challenge?" Liam mocked Ren again because he did not accept the challenge immediately. "Lady Lexie, look! He even doesn't dare to accept my challenge."

He then continued, "You won't be able to get the magical herb if you hire a coward like him. Just hire me. I will make sure you will get the magical herb and return home safely."

Ren raised his right index finger and responded, "Sure, but on one condition."

"If you are not a coward, just fight me without a condition." Liam responded, "I will leave this place if you can defeat me."

"Yes, fight him without a condition!" Dan and his friends shouted.

"It would not be fun if we fought without anything at stake." Ren responded, "How about we use our space rings as stakes? I will take yours if you can defeat me, and you can take mine if I lose to you later."

Ren was poor.

No!

Ren wanted to become a rich young man, so he did not forget to take advantage of the situation to make more money.

Previously, he used the Appraisal feature to check Liam's strength.

After checking his status and seeing his personality, Ren believed he could defeat Liam easily because Liam was not as strong as the White Tiger.

"Fight me without any condition if you dare." Liam rejected Ren's idea indirectly.

"Why? Are you afraid? If so, then leave this place now. Don't disturb us anymore because we are going to discuss something important." Ren was delighted when he saw Liam's expression because Liam dared to mock him earlier.

Lexie covered her mouth and giggled.

'What an interesting young man!'

She suddenly felt confident in Ren's strength because he wouldn't have proposed the bet if he wasn't confident in defeating Liam.

Liam clenched his fist.

He did not accept the bet immediately because the stake was too high.

All of his possessions were in his space ring, so he would be a bum if he lost the fight.

The risk was too high!

He did not dare to take it.

Even though the possibility of him winning against Ren was high, it was not one hundred percent.

Anything could happen in a fight, including losing to a younger awakener.

This was the reason why his confidence plummeted because he was not one hundred percent sure he could defeat Ren.

'Damn it!'

He gritted his teeth as he stared at Ren.

The anger within him grew bigger when he saw the onlookers' expressions because it looked like they were mocking him.

"So, how about it? I won't fight you if we have nothing at stake because I don't take pointless fights." Ren uttered.
