Chapter 24 - Divine Steps Skill

An attractive young man was floating in the pool alone. His dark grey eyes were locked on the ceiling and his head was resting on his palms.

Even though he had just broken through to the Master rank, he did not celebrate it because he suddenly remembered two magical beasts that bullied him.

'I will take revenge on them later. Now, I need to think of a way to get up into the canyon, or else I won't be able to get back.'

Ren had no flight magic or skill to help him get up into the canyon, so he had no idea how to get back.

'Wait.'

He suddenly remembered something important.

'Let me try it. Maybe I can still do that in this world.'

He got out of the pool and sat cross-legged on the ground.

What he wanted to do was walk on water and air.

There was spiritual energy in every place around the world.

There was spiritual energy in stones, trees, water, and all objects in the world.

The concept of walking on water and air was simple.

First, he needed to feel the spiritual energy in the water. Second, he needed to envelop his feet with his energy and maintain it.

Third, he used the spiritual energy in water as a foothold to stand.

And lastly, he needed to control his energy in his feet and synchronize it with the energy on water.

If he could do that, he could walk on water and air like he walked on the ground.

'I can feel the spiritual energy on water.'

He could feel a thin layer on the surface of the pool.

The layer was soft yet strong.

It was colorless like the wind and flowed like a stream.

After feeling the spiritual energy on the surface of the pool, he channeled his energy into his foot and rose to his feet.

'I hope it works.'

He lifted his right leg and landed it on the water.

*Plop…Plop…Plop…

Circular ripples formed when he walked on the water.

'It works.'

His lips curled up into a smile as he stood on the water.

'Now, let me try walking on the air.'

He felt the spiritual energy in the air before finally using it as a foothold.

*One meter…two meters…three meters.

Ren stopped walking when he was five meters above the pool.

'Good! It works, too.'

His face broke into a smile as he saw the pool below him.

'Alright. I will name it the Divine Steps skill.'

It was a skill he created in his previous life, so he had to name it with something cool, or else everyone would laugh at him when they found out the name of the skill or who created the skill.

After all, he was a candidate to be the Ruler, so everything related to him had to be cool, including the names of his skills and his magic.

'Now I have a way to get up into that canyon.'

He jumped high before finally landing on the ground.

As he was sitting near the pool, his right hand suddenly pressed something on the ground.

To his surprise, a secret door opened after that.

With curiosity in his heart, he checked the tunnel while ordering his system to keep using the Scan feature.

The tunnel was two meters wide, with torches hanging on the wall.

After exploring the tunnel for more than ten minutes, Ren saw a big chamber.

'A coffin?'

He saw a silver coffin several meters from him.

The coffin floated four meters above the stone platform and was attached by four chains connected to the pillars.

A hundred knights holding various types of weapons were standing in front of the coffin as if they were soldiers protecting their king from intruders.

'Is this the tomb of a king? But why was it built under a cave? Was he a wanted person?'

Countless questions popped up in his mind.

'Let me check that coffin. Maybe I will find something valuable.'

The coffin was luxurious with beautiful patterns, so he was curious about the things inside it.

When he walked toward the coffin, four of the knights suddenly jumped at him, surrounding him and attacking him continuously.

Ren was startled by the surprise attack.

These knights were made of earth, so he thought they were only statues because his system told him that there were no signs of life in that place.

'These knights are alive?!'

Ren dodged their attacks by performing the Lightning Movement skill, moving from one place to another in less than a second.

These four knights did not stop attacking him.

They swung their weapons continuously because, in their eyes, Ren was an intruder who needed to be eliminated.

Unfortunately, they were much weaker than him, so they were destroyed into pieces when Ren counterattacked.

"Does that mean all these statues are alive?" Ren approached the coffin while holding his Aether weapon firmly.

And like before, he was stopped by the knights again.

If previously four knights attacked him, it was ten knights this time.

However, they were easily destroyed by him because their strength was only equal to awakeners at the Apprentice rank.

For an Aeris with Warrior class at Master rank and Mage class at 3-star, defeating knights with the strength at Apprentice rank was easy because the difference between their strength was like heaven and earth.

The attack did not stop there.

Ten knights attacked him after he destroyed the previous knights.

Even though he could defeat them easily, he was unhappy with this because they kept stopping him.

After destroying seventy knights, he couldn't hold back the feeling of irritation within him any longer.

"Hey, why don't we end this fight once and for all?" Ren told all the knights to fight him at once.

There were four reasons why Ren wanted to fight them together.

First, he was annoyed because they kept stopping him from approaching the coffin. Second, most of them were only at Elite rank.

The strongest knights were only at the Master rank, and there were only two of them.

And lastly, these knights could not use any magic or skill.

They only used brute strength to attack him, so it was a good opportunity to test the limit of his new body.

All the knights turned their heads toward Ren.

They held their weapons firmer and stood in front of him, ready to fight him together.

"Good!" Ren changed his position to Iai stance because he wanted to use the eighth form of the Moon Sword secret technique to test the limit of his body.

The wrath of the moon goddess!

That was the name of the final form of the Moon Sword secret technique.

As Ren's eyes were locked on the knights before him, an angel manifested from his spiritual energy appeared behind him.

The angel was big and had a pair of beautiful wings.

Like Ren, the angel also held a sword.

Its sword was huge, and its color was golden.

When Ren rushed toward the knights and swung his sword forward, the angel behind him mimicked the motion to strike as well.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Ren's attacks were fast and deadly.

Every time he swung his sword, more than two knights were destroyed into pieces. Even though he was facing thirty knights, none of them could stop him.

Many heads, legs, and arms flew into mid-air.

If they were not made of earth, that place would be filled with cries of pain and would have become a sea of blood.

Even the knights at the Master rank could not stop him when Ren used his strongest skill.

At that moment, Ren was like the God of War who entered the battlefield, unstoppable and unbeatable.

After all the puppets were destroyed into pieces, Ren finished performing the eighth form of the Moon Sword secret technique.

"Huft…Huft…Huft…" he breathed heavily as he looked at the destroyed knights on the ground.

'As I thought, this body is still weak.'

His energy was almost depleted after using it once.

In his previous life, he could use the eighth form twice, so he was not satisfied with his current strength.

[Host, the eighth form of your secret technique is equivalent to Divine class low-level skill, so it's normal if it consumes a lot of Host's energy and stamina.]

Ren sat in a lotus position and controlled his breathing.

Shortly after that, the spiritual energy in his body was stabilizing and the energy was spreading out to his muscles, making him feel better.

'Alright. It's time to check the coffin.'

He rose to his feet and approached the coffin.

He used the Divine Steps skill to approach the coffin because it was floating four meters above the ground.

When he was close to the coffin, he grabbed it before finally opening it.
