Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: The Tournament Begins

The atmosphere in the arena buzzed with anticipation as spectators filled every available seat, their cheers echoing throughout the massive structure. Banners depicting the kingdom's crest fluttered in the light breeze, and vendors shouted, selling food and trinkets to the eager crowd.

Kazuki stood at the edge of the arena, flanked by Serena and Leo. They peered into the expansive combat grounds, which were marked by several distinct arenas for various competitions—duels, team battles, and magical contests. The faint sound of steel clashing and spells exploding could be heard in the distance, adding to the electric energy of the event.

"Welcome, brave warriors and aspiring mages!" boomed the royal herald from the center of the arena, drawing the attention of the crowd. "Today marks the beginning of the Royal Tournament! Competitors from across the realm have gathered to test their skills, seek glory, and win the favor of His Majesty!"

The crowd erupted into cheers, and Kazuki couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Glory, huh? Sounds a bit overrated."

Serena nudged him playfully. "Come on! This could be fun! Just think of it as practice."

"Practice for what? More chaos?" Kazuki replied, his tone laced with sarcasm.

Leo chimed in, a gleam of excitement in his eyes. "You might just find someone worth challenging. Besides, think of all the allies we might gain."

"Yeah, because we really need more people following us around," Kazuki said, half-joking.

With a final wave from the herald, the tournament commenced. Kazuki's first match was announced shortly after, and he stepped into the arena, the dust kicking up beneath his feet. The arena was a circular pit surrounded by a low wall, with high benches filled with onlookers. Kazuki could feel their eyes on him as he took his position, his heart steadying as he focused.

His opponent was a tall warrior clad in shining armor, wielding a massive sword that seemed to shimmer with magic. He stood confidently, sizing Kazuki up with a smirk on his face.

"So, another challenger who thinks he can take me on?" the knight sneered, adjusting his grip on the hilt of his sword. "You don't look like much."

Kazuki shrugged, not bothering to respond. He wasn't here to prove anything, but he had no intention of losing either.

"Begin!" the herald shouted, signaling the start of the match.

As the knight lunged forward, swinging his sword down with surprising speed, Kazuki instinctively dodged to the side. The blade sliced through the air where he had just been standing, sending up a cloud of dust. Kazuki retaliated with a quick jab of his own, striking the knight in the side.

The impact was enough to stagger the armored warrior, and the crowd gasped in surprise. Kazuki seized the moment, stepping back and preparing to dodge again.

"What the—?!" The knight's expression shifted from confidence to shock. "How did you—"

Kazuki didn't give him a chance to finish. With a quick movement, he darted in again, using his enhanced speed and agility to keep the knight off balance. He landed a few more quick blows, each one causing the knight to stagger further. The crowd began to roar with excitement as the once-overconfident knight struggled to keep up.

Just as the knight regained his footing, he swung his sword with renewed determination. Kazuki ducked and rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack. As he came up, he found himself behind the knight, who had turned to face him again.

"Not bad, but it won't be enough!" the knight shouted, charging at Kazuki once more. But Kazuki had no intention of letting this go on much longer.

With a swift motion, he closed the distance and delivered a powerful punch to the knight's midsection, knocking the wind out of him. The knight stumbled back, his sword dropping from his grasp as he fell to his knees.

The crowd erupted into cheers, and Kazuki raised his hands in mock surrender. "You really should learn to keep your sword close, you know?" he quipped.

"Winner!" the herald announced, his voice cutting through the cheers. "Kazuki of another world!"

Kazuki felt a mix of pride and disbelief as he walked off the arena. He hadn't expected the match to be so easy, but it was a nice reminder of just how powerful he truly was. The tournament was turning out to be more entertaining than he had anticipated.
