Chapter - 83
Jacob gazed at the structure before him, a temple carved into the rock face. On either side of the temple's arched entrance stood two towering statues of Vespera, the Goddess of Wrath. They were colossal, rising nearly as high as the temple itself, their craftsmanship so detailed that even in the pale moonlight, Jacob could discern the intricacies. Vespera's visage was both fierce and beautiful. She was depicted in full battle regalia—ornate armor fitted perfectly to her form. In one hand, she held a sword, its blade pointed toward the ground as though in a moment of reprieve; in the other, a spear, raised as if to meet an unseen foe.
The twin statues stood as sentinels, guardians of the temple that loomed silently in the misty chasm. Jacob could almost feel the weight of their gaze, as though Vespera herself were scrutinizing him.
