Chapter - 74
The three of them awoke from their light nap as the afternoon sun bathed the room in a soft, golden glow. They spent the next few hours enjoying a simple yet delicious dinner that Seraphina and Elara had prepared together, their laughter and easy conversation filling the air. As the evening settled in, they found themselves once again in the comfort of the bed, Jacob sitting up with his back against the headboard, while Seraphina and Elara curled up on either side of him, their heads resting on his chest.
Elara's fingers absentmindedly traced the contours of Jacob's chest, her touch gentle and soothing. As her hand wandered, it brushed against the locket hanging around Jacob's neck, the cool metal catching her attention.
"Jacob," she began, her voice soft with curiosity, "why do you always wear this locket?" She had noticed that the locket was a constant presence, always close to his heart, no matter where they were or what they were doing.
