The group approached the serpents—except for Jacob, who hesitated as he eyed the creature's immense size. Loriel rolled her eyes and grabbed his arm, practically dragging him to one of the serpents.
"You'll ride with me," she said curtly, climbing onto the creature's back with an effortless leap.
Jacob followed with significantly less grace, nearly slipping as he hoisted himself up behind her. "This doesn't feel safe," he muttered, gripping the saddle tightly.
Loriel smirked over her shoulder. "You'll be fine. Just don't fall off. I'd hate to have to explain that to Althea."
Tudir and Draven also sat on one of the serpents while a couple of soldiers shared the remaining beast.
