It was the next day, and the trio made their way to the Abyss Monolith.
An official organization that manages the Abyss Gates. T o qualify for a raid, one would need to
be a First Star Ascender.
Upon achieving the status of a First Star Ascender, the next step is to apply for an Abyss Card,
granting access to the Gates.
After successfully completing the long verification process, they will be awarded the Abyss Card,
officially inducting them as a recognized Abyss Raider.
Walking towards the receptionist, the blonde attendant warmly welcomed the newcomers.
"Ah, it's the Nocturns, good morning. Will it be another First Star Gate today?
Camilla returned her smile, and said,
"Good morning Miss, Felicia. Yes, the same as usual.
"Felicia the attendant nodded.
After paying for the fee, the three were escorted to the Gate Halls.
It was a spacious hall room with Gates ranging from First to T enth Star difficulty.
Abyss Gates started appearing over 500 years ago. They would randomly materialize anywhere
with high concentration of energy.
The location in which the Abyss Monolith was constructed had a high concentration of energy.
At first, it was an abandoned location adorned in the forest.
But suddenly a Gate materialized in the area, then a couple more appeared in the same place.
Which is why the Monolith decided to build their base there to ensure the protection of humanity.
Arriving at the entrance of the portal, the three thanked the Ascender who escorted them.
Looking at the two boys, Camilla made sure they came prepared.
"Did you two fill your Nexus Rings with supplies?"
"Yeah, of course."
"We're not that stupid Sis."
"Good."
Then Camilla's face became serious, narrowing her eyes at Shin."And Shin…"
"What is it?"
"Did you let Alea know?"
Satoshi laughed and Shin smacked him.
"Please can we all be serious here everyone."
Camilla let out a small chuckle and the three entered the Abyss Gate.
At their arrival, Shin bent down and let out a hurl, vomiting.
Since Abyss Gates were connected to a different realm, the instantaneous distance traveled
would make anyone feel a sense of vertigo.
Camilla and Satoshi stood unaffected.
Camilla crossed her arms and glanced at the helpless Shin on the ground.
"For someone who likes to move fast when fighting, you sure are a wimp when it comes to these
things."
It was ironic.
The Shin Nocturn, who's fighting style is based on speed, even creating the Rewarp ability,
couldn't handle something like motion sickness.
Even during car rides, Shin would instantly turn pale, fighting against the sense of vertigo. After fighting back another urge to hurl, Shin stood up and took the sight in front of him.
The Realm of Abysmal wasn't any different with Earth. It had clear-blue skies and trees
everywhere, with no time difference.
The only visible difference would be the lack of civilization, and the creatures residing in the
realm.
It was a spacious realm. One would get lost if they didn't have an Abyss Compass.
Abyss Compasses were given to Official Abyss Raiders.
Just like any regular compass, it had the North, East, West, and South indicator.
But the needle in the middle was locked to a fixed location, the Exit Portal.
It was a compass drawn to intense concentrations of energy rather than magnetic fields.
After locating the Exit Portal, the three made their way.
As the Abysmals from a distance were becoming clear, the three got into a battle stance.
"Kurruk!"
Splurt!
The three instantly dispersed towards the oncoming horde of Abysmals.
As always, the difficulty was just right for them. They instantly minced the numbers of the beast.
Whenever one of them would get tired, they would switch and let the other recover some
stamina.
Shin had the most stamina compared to the two, allowing an optimal rotation.
The Abysmals skin was thick. Which is why precision was needed to strike the weaker spots.
Shin was skilled with the blade as each strike would always land on the weak spots, it made him
an efficient Abysmal slayer with no wasted movements.
Camilla was skilled as well, but not as accurate as Shin when it comes to precision. She would
miss the weak spots 1 out of five.
Satoshi on the other hand was the lesser skilled of the two, he would often miss. But it wasn't
too bad. After all, he was still a Nocturn. His strength makes up for his short-comings.
The three were a skillful party for Abyss Raids.
As the last of the Abysmals fell, the three bent down on the ground, opening their Nexus Rings
and hydrated themselves.
"Don't you guys think there were a lot more Abysmals this time around? And to think that was
the first wave."
Shin realized there was something different with this wave, there were simply too much just for
the first wave.
Most often, the Abyss would be split in five waves. The first wave would just be a group of ten,
gradually going up in each wave. But for some reason, there were twenty in the first wave alone.
Something was definitely wrong.
Satoshi agreed with Shin.
"Yeah, but the difficulty is the same. Shouldn't this be better for training?"
Despite the numbers, the beasts were the same as always in the First Star Gate.
"Yeah… but still…"
Camilla stood up and slapped Shin's back.
"Always pessimistic as ever, Shin. We should make the most of this opportunity, you know?"
"Maybe you're right."
Satoshi stood up and joined them.
"Yup, and if things go awry, we have you anyway, right?"
"Haa… you two shouldn't put too much faith in me when your lives are involved."
"It's because we trust you, we're family after all, Brother."
Shin could only smirk at Satoshi's statement. The two had solely put their faiths in him, he
couldn't let them down."KURRRUUUUK!"
From a distance, the second wave became audible.
Shin got up, putting the water bottle back in his Nexus Ring.
"Looks like they're coming."
"Yeah… but there really were a lot."
Satoshi was right. Usually, there would be twenty in the second wave.
But from a distance, thirty-five Abysmals were visible.
Shin had a bad premonition.
