Chapter 7 - Score To Settle {2}

The student's eyes went wide as she saw me come in without my shirt on, her light blue pupils shaking with an unmistakable fear as I drew closer. Noticing her trembling, I put my shirt back on and crouched next to her.

"Why are you here so late Sasha?" I questioned, my eyes glued to the door. Shattering the window was risky because of the noise it created, but it was the quickest way, otherwise, she might not have been able to converse with me had I been slower.

"I stayed after school to do some club work. But- Mr. Iones suddenly tried to drag me into another classroom! I barely got in here and locked myself in!" She cried out, her voice shaky and faltering. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she sank below the desk more.

"Repeat it into this, then get out through the window. I'll take it from here," I said, gritting my teeth and holding the microphone of the phone to her lips as I felt a burning warmth travel through my body, heating me more than any sun ever could.

She did as I said, then immediately jumped out the window, cutting her palm across the glass as she left, yet she never stopped to complain.

Scarlet red dripped from the glass and as much as I wanted to smell it, I focused on the door. I loved humor, it was a way of coping with everything, but this was the one time I had to be serious.

"I'll find him. This is my turn, I'll get some damn evidence."

The moment I said those words, a chilling silence filled the room. Not a word was spoken, not a footstep was heard, not even the sound of my breathing could be heard. It was so quiet a feather hitting the ground would sound like an earthquake.

My spine tingled, sending a shiver through my body, even as the burning sensation wrapped around every fiber of my being. 'This is almost-' Les started to say, but she stopped as the sound we both expected filled my ears. Footsteps, loud and fast, came toward us from down the hallway.

The doorknob jingled, wiggling left and right, before stopping, and the sound of metal clinging together was heard, he had the keys. "Shit," I mumbled, holding back a laugh. How did my life ever go from every fight possible to being wrapped up in this?

"I hoped this would end," A darker voice said from behind me, it wasn't on par with mine, it was something pure evil. The voice was darkness as if it was murder incarnate, it was like death itself was speaking.

I wiped around, expecting to see someone, possibly another teacher, yet there was nothing. Just a fading orange light, and it disappeared as I made eye contact, whatever it was, it knew I saw it. 'What the fuck?' I thought, but my thoughts got disconnected as the door slid open.

As much as I wanted to question it, especially considering the light matched what Liam saw in his dream, I couldn't. I slid under a desk, watching the tall figure move through the room.

His short, unkempt hair flashed for a second in the pale moonlight, followed quickly behind by the scent of something pungent, like that of a sewer.

Unfortunately, I knew the figure all too well, it was the same teacher I reported for pedophilia the year before, the one who was pardoned after flirting with students. Mr. Iones.

"Come out girlie, I know you want some of this. Unless you enjoy a good chase? I don't mind my reward being something like you," He spoke, making a hearty, bone-chilling giggle mixed with a chuckle.

Sweat rolled down my face, tracing my faint smile, dripping off my chin and slapping against the floor.

His head whirled around to where I was, hiding under the same desk the girl was in the far left corner of the classroom, only three feet from the broken window. "Girlie, I see you," He giggled, his bloated stomach blocking the light from the moon.

I looked to my right and saw a broken shard of glass, and when I looked up, his figure was almost right above me. 'Oh, haha, I'm fucked this time,' I thought, feeling my sweat drip against the floor even faster.

"Girlie, how about you take off your shirt, just as a reward?" He asked, reaching his hand closer to me, not noticing the broken window to his right.

Without thinking, I gripped the shard of glass and stabbed it hard into his thigh. In an instant, he let out an ear-piercing scream of agony, dropping onto his knee and meeting my face.

"Y-You! Where's the girl!?" He shouted, clutching his thigh as it leaked blood all over the tile floor.

The pale moonlight lit up the classroom once more, reflecting through the case near the window and turning my face a blood-red color. I smiled, unable to hold it back, and let out a blood-curdling laugh.

"You'll find out!" I screeched, kicking him hard where the glass shard was. In seconds, I was out from under the desk and towering above him, wiping my forehead with my blood-soaked palm.

'Volgar! I should have known letting you near blood was a bad idea you maniac!' Les yelled, but I ignored her, still focused on the teacher in front of me.

I wiped the corners of my mouth, creating a crimson smile as I giggled, tasting the metallic tang of my blood. "How about just for the record, you admit to what you did to the students, eh? Maybe I'll let you go?"

He looked at me, tears in his eyes, and I could read the word on his mind. 'Monster.' He didn't need to say it, still listening to his screams, I kicked him in the mouth, creating a loud crunch as my shoe broke his front teeth.

Taking advantage of the situation, I gripped my phone and held it close to his mouth. A large grin spread across my face, letting the blood drip down my teeth and onto my tongue as he hurriedly explained what he had done.

"My name is Kurth Iones, I admit to..." He paused, and I held my foot in front of him again, staring deep into his wide amber eyes, and so he continued. "I Sexually Assaulted sixteen students last year, and five this year."

"Thanks, now nighty-night!" I yelled, planting my foot hard into his skull and creating a loud crack. Blood pooled out of his mouth and thigh, but I paid him no more attention, I was finished here.

'Volgar-' Les started, but she stopped speaking as sirens cut through the air. Blue and red lights could be seen pulling in through the gate. The sweat on my brow quickly formed and began to drip down as I watched the light get brighter.

Sure, I had never been in the police system before, but my DNA is in my blood and my medical reports. With that final thought, I grabbed a bottle of bleach from under the desk, dumped all of it where my blood had been, and finally lept through the window.

Flashlights shined from where I had just been as I hopped the metal fence, landing safely on the other side, the sounds of my footsteps hidden by the thick snow.

'I cannot believe you almost killed a teacher, broke into a school, and tortured someone, all in the span of taking over for less than an hour!' Les yelled as I hopped back into the truck, my bloody smile still painted on my face.

"Well, he did deserve it. Besides, that was fun! Minus, almost being assaulted," I retorted, wiping my face with the hand sanitizer in the glovebox.

The smell of sewage and iron had faded away, yet there was still that eerie silence, and that voice from earlier. I knew Liam was dreaming about someone with orange eyes and a suit, but why would I see it too?

'Les...Did you notice anything earlier? Like a dark voice, maybe an orange light?" I asked, driving away from the parking lot, still clutching the phone in my spare hand.

'Hmm, no. Why? Finally, hit your head?' She asked sarcastically, clutching my shoulder and digging her nails into my skin, something she only did when nervous or worried.

"No, forget I asked," I said bluntly, still questioning what was going on. It had been happening since Gispellen, since Liam visited the grave since he first saw the building. 'Ares, I wonder.'

With a final thought, I pulled into a gas station parking lot and stared at the brightly lit moon, how it highlighted everything, adding a sharp pale outline to the trees.

I couldn't get it out of my head, the orange eyes, how the old man's eyes flashed red, how weird stuff had been happening since first visiting that damned place.

'Les... Give Liam control, I need to figure something out. I can't explain it, but there's this feeling we're missing something big.'
