## Chapter 4 ##

Qin Wanshu looked at Zuo Qinghuan's smile and was momentarily taken aback; the smile was as elegant as a lotus flower, unlike someone so thick-skinned. Qin Wanshu remained silent, quietly gazing at Zuo Qinghuan's face, as if appreciating a painting. To Qin Wanshu, Zuo Qinghuan's face resembled a painting, no, it should be more realistic than a mere painting.

"How did you end up there?" Zuo Qinghuan couldn't ignore the way Qin Wanshu was looking at her; the gaze was neither warm nor cold, as if assessing an unimportant item. Zuo Qinghuan didn't like being scrutinized like that, so she sought a topic to divert both her and Qin Wanshu's attention.

"I went to the auction house nearby, and on my way back, I passed by the old street. I had never been inside, and seeing how lively it was, I felt curious and went in," Qin Wanshu said softly. In fact, her visit to the old street today was also a spur-of-the-moment decision.

"You shouldn't have gone there," Zuo Qinghuan replied flatly.

"Why not?" Qin Wanshu raised an eyebrow, seeming intrigued by this statement.

"It's a chaotic place." Zuo Qinghuan didn't think Han Shibin would want his wife going there, though she wondered if she was overstepping her bounds; when did the mistress's wife become her concern?

"Then why did you go?" Qin Wanshu asked, looking at Zuo Qinghuan with a half-smile, her interest in this woman piqued slightly.

"I'm not like you," Zuo Qinghuan frowned, disliking Qin Wanshu's smirk that implied she was meddling.

"What's the difference?" Qin Wanshu pressed on.

"Everything is different," Zuo Qinghuan answered, somewhat irritated. Was she mocking herself? Anyone with eyes could see how different they were; they belonged to two different worlds. Zuo Qinghuan had struggled to survive in a harsh environment, while this woman clearly had been pampered and probably spent a fortune to cultivate her air of wealth and refinement. She seemed completely oblivious to the harshness and suffering of the world!

"I didn't grow an extra eye," Qin Wanshu replied with a smile, her mood suddenly lifting. This woman was much kinder than she had expected, and it made Qin Wanshu feel a bit fond of Zuo Qinghuan. Although Zuo Qinghuan looked quite young at that moment, Qin Wanshu could tell that she was definitely not a seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl; the eyes didn't lie. There was a hint of indifference and maturity in them.

"I'm not worried about you getting into trouble…" Zuo Qinghuan said, observing Qin Wanshu's oddly unnatural smile. Having always seen herself as a bad woman, Zuo Qinghuan didn't like being treated like a good person. It would feel so awkward, but saying it out loud gave her the sensation of wanting to cover up her true feelings, making her despise herself for meddling.

"**You don't belong there either; it would be a shame for a face like yours that doesn't belong in this world of dust and smoke.**" Qin Wanshu remarked sincerely, even though this woman looked fairy-like, her inner self was definitely not of that caliber.

Zuo Qinghuan raised her lips slightly in indifference, containing an almost imperceptible hint of sarcasm; she found it ironic to be such an existence.

The atmosphere in the car grew a bit quiet, but it soon reached the place where Han Shibin kept his mistress.

Zuo Qinghuan led Qin Wanshu inside, thinking about what Qin Wanshu would feel if she knew her husband's mistress was right in front of her. Zuo Qinghuan found her own curiosity rather amusing.

"I'll go get you a clean outfit to change into," Zuo Qinghuan said as she entered the house. She picked out a set of clothes that seemed suitable for Qin Wanshu and also grabbed a new bra, thinking that after being splashed with that much milk tea, the clothes underneath must be soaked.

Qin Wanshu glanced at the new black bra, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"What's wrong? Don't you like it?" Zuo Qinghuan raised an eyebrow, wondering if Qin Wanshu didn't approve of her style.

"It's too small," Qin Wanshu said awkwardly.

"You look about the same height as me; it shouldn't be small," Zuo Qinghuan said as she scrutinized Qin Wanshu from head to toe. When she caught sight of Qin Wanshu's chest, it suddenly dawned on her. Although she had known that Qin Wanshu had a good figure from the last time she had mistakenly hugged the wrong person, she didn't realize it as deeply as now. From a woman's critical perspective, Qin Wanshu was truly flawless; Zuo Qinghuan felt a pang of jealousy. The presence of the original wife was undoubtedly putting serious pressure on the mistress.

Qin Wanshu was better than her in every way, making it hard for Zuo Qinghuan to understand why Han Shibin had such a gem at home yet still kept a mistress outside. It seemed certain that Qin Wanshu had a cold disposition, and as she thought about it, Zuo Qinghuan's gaze toward Qin Wanshu became somewhat lecherous, making Qin Wanshu feel extremely uncomfortable.

Qin Wanshu found Zuo Qinghuan's look to be very strange, but she couldn't pinpoint why; it simply felt as though Zuo Qinghuan was looking at her with some kind of repulsion.

"There's nothing I can do; that's the size. You can choose to make do with it or not wear it at all," Zuo Qinghuan said with a smile, her expression clearly one of schadenfreude. She maliciously added, "If it were me, I would choose not to wear it; after all, it's too small and would be quite constricting." Zuo Qinghuan was genuinely curious about how this well-mannered, seemingly virtuous woman would choose.

In truth, Qin Wanshu didn't want to choose either option. She really wanted to call someone to bring her a new outfit, but looking at Zuo Qinghuan's demeanor, she figured that if she had someone deliver another set, it would probably upset her. It seemed that this woman had a strong sense of pride and didn't like to be looked down upon. Although she rarely treated people well, when she did, she seemed to care a lot if someone doused her with cold water. But if she took this woman's feelings into account, it meant sacrificing her own comfort. Qin Wanshu hesitated as she looked at Zuo Qinghuan.

Her good upbringing led Qin Wanshu to choose to consider the feelings of others. Reluctantly, she took the bra that was a size too small and headed into the bathroom.

Zuo Qinghuan couldn't hide her amusement; why did bullying Qin Wanshu make her feel so cheerful?

When Qin Wanshu finished washing up and came out, Zuo Qinghuan was surprised to find that her clothes fit Qin Wanshu surprisingly well, as if they had been tailored for her. In fact, they looked even better on Qin Wanshu than on herself, and Zuo Qinghuan began to feel pangs of jealousy. This woman clearly threatened her existence.

"The clothes fit well," Qin Wanshu smiled as she looked at herself in the fitting mirror, accepting the outfit despite the bra being a bit tight.

"Is it too tight?" Zuo Qinghuan leaned closer to Qin Wanshu, feigning concern, clearly harboring ill intentions.

"It's fine," Qin Wanshu replied, not wanting to appear flustered, especially with a woman so unsympathetic around. However, she wished this unsympathetic woman wouldn't lean in so close, especially when she spoke directly into her ear; it felt inappropriate and made their relationship seem overly intimate. After all, they had only just met today, Qin Wanshu thought.

"By the way, what's your name?" Qin Wanshu suddenly realized that she still didn't know this woman's name.

"Zuo Qinghuan, and you?" Zuo Qinghuan replied.

Zuo Qinghuan—her name sounded nice, but it was somewhat careless to name a girl something like that.

"My name is Qin Wanshu," Qin Wanshu answered.

"Qin Wanshu suits you very well; you look like someone who practices abstinence, unlike me, who is light-hearted and thin-skinned," Zuo Qinghuan smiled at Qin Wanshu.
