As Charles approached the apartment door, he heard muffled noises coming from inside—moans of pleasure and the heady rhythm of bodies entwined.
When he opened the door, he was met with a shocking sight.
Anna was sprawled across the naked torso of a young man, their mouths locked in a passionate embrace, their bodies moving in a primal dance of desire.
Anna's hips gyrated, her movements coaxing the man's body to greater heights of pleasure.
The young man wore just a white pants.
Anna's hands were on his cheeks, pulling him closer so that she could get a better taste of his lips.
Presently, Anna was on a white pants and a blue bra.
They were both immersed in the moment and were unable to realise that someone had just stepped inside the room.
Charles' breath caught in his throat, a sharp gasp of shock and betrayal escaping his lips.
"An… Anna?" he choked out, his voice quavering with emotion as tears streamed down his face, his hands trembling as he struggled to hold onto the gifts.
Unfortunately, his body betrayed him, his shock and sorrow forcing his hands to surrender their hold, the cake and flowers and diamonds crashing to the floor with a sickening thud.
The words of Charles immediately made Anna to snap out of her erotic reverie.
Startled, she pulled away from the kiss, her gaze breaking from her lover's face to meet Charles' gaze.
'Pftt!' Anna scoffed, shaking her head sideways as she removed her hands from the cheek of her lover.
"Why are you here?" She inquired of Charles while stepping down from the bed. "I told you where I lived, but that doesn't mean you can just show up whenever you want." She added, sounding upset by the fact Charles had visited her without informing her.
"An… Anna." Charles stuttered once more.
He felt as if a string had been stung towards his heart and the whole world felt as if it was spinning.
Charles couldn't believe his eyes.
He didn't expect that Anna was cheating on him. 'So he is not her friend?' Charles thought to himself as more beads of tears streamed down his eyes.
The man who Anna had just shared a passionate kiss with was the same man that Charles saw at the jewellery shop.
"I asked you a question," Anna snapped, the bitterness in her voice cutting through Charles' heart. "Why are you here?" She probed. "If you are here to give me the diamond you promised me then I'll forgive you for coming here without informing me."
"I… I came here to… I came here to surprise you and…"
The words of Charles trailed off for a while as he pondered if answering her question was the best decision.
'Why am I even answering her foolish question?' He inwardly thought to himself.
"You… you are cheating on me, Anna." Charles stuttered, his words barely above a whisper.
He gulped his saliva, forcing himself to pour out his heart to Anna.
Charles' voice rose, his emotions spilling out in a torrent of anger and heartbreak. "How dare you?" he demanded, his hands balled into fists at his sides. "You're the one who's cheating on me. You're the one who betrayed our relationship, and yet you have the audacity to question my actions? You should be ashamed of yourself. Or won't you apologise…"
Swiftly, snapped her fingers, cutting him off from completing his sentence.
She closed the distance between herself and Charles before smirking. "You want me to apologise? You mean you want me to apologise to you?" She questioned with a mockery tone.
"I told you that we are going to be official when you hand over a diamond ring to me and so far, you…" her words trailed off as she leaned towards Charles's ear. "You haven't." She purred, her voice barely above a whisper.
With a scoff, Anna leans away from Charles before winking at him.
"Yo… you…"
Charles wanted to curse Anna. He wanted to tell her that she was hurting him and most importantly, he wanted to ask Anna 'Why?'
'Why did she cheat on me when all I ever did was love her?' He mused to himself, more tears flowing down from his eyes.
Charles fluttered his eyelashes, blinking some tears out of his eyes.
He removes his medicated glasses before wiping his eyes by using the back of his palm. "Since when did you start seeing him?"
"I am Anna's boyfriend long before you came along,"
The deep voice of the man who lay on the bed suddenly answered Charles question.
The young man words were laced with a possessive pride as he slid off the bed and moved towards his lover.
The young man came to a halt, his hands circling Anna's waist in a bold display of ownership.
Leaning in close, he pressed his lips against Anna's ear, the soft brush of his mouth eliciting a giggle from the woman.
The sound was a knife in Charles' heart as he watched the intimate exchange unfold, his own love for Anna shattering like glass under the weight of betrayal.
The scene before Charles reminded him of what he had witnessed at the jewellery shop.
Charles held back a sob, his hands balling into fists as he fought to control the raw emotion that threatened to consume him.
Slowly, almost mechanically, he lowered himself to the floor, his fingers reaching out to grasp at the remnants of the gifts he had brought.
The cake was a squashed mess, the flowers a crumpled heap, and the jewelries were out of the bus and were scattered into different place which was just like the pieces of Charles broken heart.
"I… I hate you Anna and I hope you suffer the pain that you've inflicted on me. I hope someone hurts you the way you've hurt me. I never want to see you again!" Charles spurred, his fingers grabbing a hold of something.
Since he wasn't wearing his glasses, he was unable to see properly, but he deeply believed that he grabbed the entire diamond jeweller.
With a swift motion, Charles rose from his squatting position. "You… you are so mean, Anna." Charles seethed before turning around.
He stretched his hands because without his glasses, he wouldn't be able to see properly and the fact that he had tears in his eyes added to his bad vision.
"What a loser." Anna scoffed, watching as he walked out of the apartment.
