Chapter 8 - Chapter 8- Emma

Keir sat on the chair and opened his laptop. Now that he replaced his energy with the food, he had to prepare for the meeting. There were not a lot of things he needed to prepare but facing other villains should not be taken lightly.

There were twelfth Rank A villains in Hiewbard including him. Every single one of those villains was a great powerhouse and had their own speciality.

Keir opened a netshop network for Villain and browsed through the things he wanted to buy. First, he needed a gray shirt for his costume. And his supplies of medicine were getting low as well.

He put everything he needed into the list and bought them. As for the address, he put it in the forest near Hiewbard.

I should get all the things I need around Sunday morning.

Keir then finally looked at the news. He had been itching for it but controlled himself. There were many articles on the Villain net and regular net.

Villain Phantom killed Doctor Oiti.

" Interesting." Keir muttered. He also found another article.

Phantom brutally killed Megalord's raising student,Gust Gut.

" That is true but why is the news more focused on Oiti?" Keir tapped the table and tried to think of a theory.

His first theory was of course, Megalord blamed him because they wouldn't want to share the news of a low rank villain like Thorny killing Oiti. That would damage their reputation.

The only active people in that night were me and Thorny's group. Keir noted and smiled.

Megalord's hero. Three parties. Oh… there is Formless as well. She is a vigilante so why don't they add her name.

The news doesn't say anything about her name. It is all about how I torture Oiti and take away his papers.

Why paper?

Keir scratched his head. This is getting more interesting.

Then the second theory formed in his head. A bold theory.

Megalord killing their own scientist. And plotting their hero. But why would they risk such things? They value their brand the most in the whole galaxy.

Is there something more important than the brand in Oiti's paper?

Keir was not satisfied with that theory. He felt like there was something missing about the theory.

Formless. How did she come into the place? What role did she play?

Keir sighed and closed the laptop. There was no use thinking about the theory. What he needed was information?

Keir took off his hoodie and checked his wounds. It was mostly healed. With the superhuman physique, this kind of wounds were not worth mentioning.

He dropped to the floor and started doing push ups. He needed to test his new improved physical attribute. Everytime he used spirit fusion, his physical ability improved. He didn't know why that happened.

He felt as if his entire being was changed into the corresponding spirit he fused with.

Maybe it was because of corruption left by the spirit.

Keir thought as he pushed himself.

He decided to visit Emma on Sunday. On the way he could take the thing he ordered. That way, he won't waste his time.

***

Next morning.

Keir dressed himself sharp. He still wore his glasses. He styled his hair and checked himself in the mirror. He was handsome like an actor but there was a charm to his eyes. The part he liked the most.

They were dark and have a tiny part of brightness. It was not breathtaking but he just found drawing himself everytime he looked into his eyes.

" Finish." Keir patted his shoulder and left the dorm.

He had ordered a Taxi. He didn't want to use Syith in broad daylight. It would look weird.

Keir entered inside the taxi and it drove off. The car passed the university's gate and drove deeper into the city, taking a longer path toward the hospital.

The short path was to circle the outer road which circled the city. It would take about 16 minutes as Keir calculated before. Of course, regular humans won't dare to take the outer road because there is a high chance of being attacked by Villains or criminals.

Although, the city was not filled with crimes unlike Guei. People wouldn't take the risk which involved their lives.

Cowards. Keir said while looking at the busy streets.

All cowards.

He let out a soft sigh and shook his head.

Can't blame them. They don't know about the spirit.

After an hour, Keir arrived at the Hospital. He paid the taxi and headed to the room he noted from Fred.

He didn't want to talk to any of the hospital staff. They gave him a creep. Because of his ability, he could see faint blue aura from them. They did not look healthy.

Keir arrived at the room. He checked the number and nodded.

Crap. I forget flowers and fruit.

Keir slapped his forehead and opened the door.

The first thing he noticed was a lonely girl looking through the window. Her black hair swung in the air as the wind carried them. She turned around and faced Keir.

Her eyes told him that she wanted some answer.

Keir slowly closed the door behind him and sat beside her.

" How is your wound?" He asked with a smile, ignoring her demand.

Emma continued to stare at him. She didn't answer.

Keir didn't give in to her play. He was not some random person who will withdraw their cards because of a bluff. He was very familiar with pressure. This time he wanted something from her.

Not until she did as he pleased he would not give in.

He didn't smile or move. He simply stared back in her eyes without backing down.

His tactic worked as Emma looked down.

" Answer me." Keir ordered.

" Doctor said I lost consciousness because I didn't eat a lot." Emma said.

" That doctor is a fraud."

" I think so. He seemed like a creep." Emma played with her hair.

Keir decided to be blunt. " Who do you think I am?"

" What?" Emma asked.

" I think I asked the wrong question." Keir smiled. " Let me rephrase my words. What do you think I am?"

Keir lifted his arm and placed on the hospital bed. His hand almost touched her hair.

Emma closed her eyes. She thought about the answer for a few good minutes. She answered.

" I think you are not a bad person."

Keir was taken back by her words. He felt insulted hearing the answer. He did all the crime and yet she deemed him as not a bad person.

" Expand that please." Keir softly said. He didn't want to show his emotion in front of her. After all, if things go well, she will be his sidekick.

" I don't feel like you are here to hurt me. And there was something different about you."

Keir frowned. " Different?"

Emma shook her hands and said. " What I mean Is that. Everytime I look at you, you stand out the most in terms of thoughts. Because of my past, I am pretty good at guessing other people's intentions."

Keir nodded. " That is good enough."

Emma braced herself and asked a question. She had thought about the identity of Keir. She was not that stupid. He must be Villain or vigilante.

The chance of him being Villain was high since he attacked her without saying a word. If not for him being here, she would have thought about last night's accident differently. Since she woke up, her mind was hazy.  She convinced herself that there was no way Keir would be a villain.

She must have mistaken him. After all, she just only saw his half covered face.

Then Keir arrived. She decided to test him by staring for a long time. He was indeed the Villain.

" Who are you?" Emma asked.

Keir smiled. He also laughed. Looking at her, he knew she was a little bit crazy.

" Glad you ask. I have been wanting to hear that kind of question."

" I am Phantom. Keir is my name but it is not important. I have many goals. Many dreams."

Keir's eyes focused. " I want you to join me. To the journey toward everything. Trust me. Things will be chaotic."

Emma thought. " Can I think about that?"

Keir clapped his hand softly. " No. I will not give you time. And if you don't accept my hands , you die. Then I will kill your family when they arrive in this city. I promise."

" You are blackmailing me."

" Blackmail is good. You should try that."

" Then I will join. Promise me one thing."

Keir nodded lazily. " Say the words."

Emma spoke without a pause.

Keir's eyes widened. " You really are crazy. I promise."
