Heaven's Calamity and Divine Judgement were both powerful techniques derived from the principles of Sasuke's future Lightning Release: Kirin.
Divine Judgement was designed for single-target devastation, focusing all the gathered lightning into a single strike with lethal precision.
In contrast, Heaven's Calamity was a technique for mass destruction, unleashing a storm of lightning across a wide area with indiscriminate, overwhelming force.
For Hui, the Land of Lightning was the perfect stage for Heaven's Calamity. With the Iwa-Suna Alliance's thirteen thousand ninja gathered here, facing off against Konoha's forces, the setting was ideal for maximizing the technique's power without risking his own allies.
The sky changed abruptly, becoming a brilliant white. A magnificent and unforgettable display was about to begin.
With Hui's command, the sky was filled with a blinding sea of lightning, glowing silver-white. Bolts of lightning, each like a massive spear, rained down from above, striking the ranks of the Alliance ninja below and erupting into a series of explosions.
The endless bolts fell like cascading willow branches, covering the sky in shimmering white light.
Strangely, though the lightning filled the air, it struck with an eerie silence, descending soundlessly but lethally, ripping through the ranks of the Alliance.
Konoha's ninja watched in stunned silence, their mouths agape, their breaths held, as their minds struggled to process the sight before them.
Even Tobirama Senju was immobilized by awe, memories flashing through his mind as he watched the heavenly force.
For a moment, he saw images of Madara Uchiha's fully realized Susano'o and Hashirama Senju's massive Thousand-Armed Buddha—two techniques that once made those shinobi seem godlike in the eyes of others.
And now, seeing Heaven's Calamity, he realized that Hui might one day surpass even those titanic powers.
Though Heaven's Calamity still required a specific natural environment to unleash such destruction and fell short of Susano'o or the Thousand-Armed Buddha, Hui was only sixteen; Sixteen!
He had years of growth ahead of him. Tobirama imagined that by the time Hui reached his late twenties or early thirties, he might be able to summon this kind of power unaided by the environment.
Such potential, such terrifying power—this boy would undoubtedly become the next God of Shinobi, perhaps even surpass that title one day.
The shock in Tobirama's heart gradually shifted into pride and gratitude.
Pride that this remarkable young man was his protege, molded by his guidance, and gratitude that Hui's loyalty lay with Konoha. Even if Hui became the God of Shinobi tomorrow, he would be Konoha's God of Shinobi.
Lightning continued to fall, silent and deadly, while the air echoed with the cries of the Iwa-Suna forces.
For them, this was a trial of survival within the storm, a life-or-death struggle in which only the strongest defenses could prevail.
Shamon and Mu reacted first. As the lightning descended, both Kage unleashed their strongest defensive jutsu without hesitation.
Around them, the elite ninja of both villages quickly raised their own defenses—walls of earth rose from the ground, shields of sand solidified in layers.
These defenses held back the initial onslaught of lightning, sparing those who could summon them.
But the ranks of the Alliance army included far more chunin and genin, who were slower to react and lacked the defensive techniques needed to withstand the attack.
Worse still, many of these lower-ranking ninja were grouped together, far from the protective range of the elite.
They had no way to withstand the full force of Heaven's Calamity and fell in waves under the relentless storm.
When the lightning finally ceased, the ground was charred black, wisps of smoke rising from it.
Bodies lay strewn across the battlefield, and the survivors, injured and barely alive, writhed in agony.
High above, Hui surveyed the aftermath, estimating the death toll caused by his technique.
About five thousand of the Alliance ninja had perished. He clicked his tongue in disappointment.
Shamon and Mu's wide-area defensive jutsu had provided significant protection, shielding many of their comrades.
In addition, most Iwagakure ninja were equipped with defensive techniques, allowing many to survive the assault. If not for the element of surprise, the casualties would have been even lower.
Of the five thousand casualties, seventy percent were genin, twenty-five percent chunin, and the remaining five percent elite chunin or special jonin. Few, if any, elite jonin-level shinobi had been killed.
Still, it was enough.
Heaven's Calamity was designed as a mass-killing jutsu, meant to wipe out vast numbers of weaker enemies.
For the Iwa-Suna Alliance, the loss of five thousand ninja was a devastating blow.
Including the ambush unit Hui had wiped out earlier, the Alliance had lost eight thousand ninja in a single day—a number equivalent to the entire military force of a large village.
Now, the Alliance was down to about eight thousand remaining ninja, while Konoha, including Hui's reinforcements, had around seven thousand. The war in the Land of Rain was likely nearing its end.
With the lightning exhausted, the clouds began to thin, and the rain stopped. Sunlight broke through the gaps, casting rays of light across the scarred landscape of the Land of Lightning.
Hui descended from the sky, landing beside Tobirama.
"Well, Grandpa Tobirama, how's that for a technique?" Hui asked, a proud smile playing on his lips.
Heaven's Calamity and Divine Judgement were among his signature techniques, his most powerful jutsu.
Tobirama, snapping out of his daze, gave a rare approving smile. "It's worthy of being recorded in the Scroll of Seals."
Hui's face froze for a moment before he laughed, amused.
Only Tobirama could give such praise so uniquely. But in his own way, Tobirama's words were the highest form of acknowledgment, a testament to the power and value of Hui's technique.
As the two spoke, the ninja across the Land of Lightning began to recover from their shock. Their faces were filled with disbelief and awe.
"This… this is truly the power of a god!"
"Can a shinobi really do something like that?"
"The stories of the Thunder God weren't exaggerations—Lord Mochizuki Hui is truly the Thunder God of the ninja world, wielding the power of lightning itself!"
"It's incredible, I feel like I just witnessed a miracle!"
"So this… this is Heaven's Calamity!"
The Konoha ninja were overwhelmed with admiration, their voices growing louder with excitement as they struggled to process what they had witnessed.
Their bodies trembled, and they stared at Hui's back with a look of pure reverence.
In the eyes of many, the young man before them had become something more—a living god of the ninja world.
