Chapter 4: Entrance I

Early Morning at Yosen Magic Affiliated College

The sun had barely risen when the Creed brothers arrived at Yosen Magic Affiliated College, precisely at 7:30 Helia standard time.

Freshman orientation wouldn't begin until 9:00, but arriving early never hurt anyone.

No—everybody arrived early, due to the excitement of enrolling into such a prestigious school.

This is evident by the students that streamed through the gates, chatting excitedly among themselves as cherry blossom petals drifted through the air.

The campus buzzed with the energy of the first day, filled with expectations and excitement.

Yosen's campus was as massive as the brothers remembered from their entrance exam.

It wasn't just a school—it was a self-contained academic city.

Towering gymnasiums, specialized buildings, and entire wings dedicated to dungeon-raiding simulations sprawled across the grounds.

This was a place where the elite trained to become heros.

"Kaiden, you're spacing out."

Lucas's voice cut through Kaiden's thoughts. The younger boy tilted his head, studying him curiously.

Kaiden blinked and shook his head, turning his attention to his brothers, who were already walking ahead toward the administrative building.

Just as they stepped past the gates and started up the small path leading to the administrative building, Shane called out.

"Lussac."

Lucas stiffened at the sound of the nickname.

"I—I'm coming! Wait! My name is Lucas, not Lussac!"

For some reason, Shane had decided early on to call Lucas "Lussac," and no matter how many times Lucas tried to correct him, Shane refused to stop.

Lucas hurried after the three older brothers—Enma, Damian, and Shane—his steps slightly awkward.

The four Creed brothers wore their Yosen uniforms—casual black, white, or gray outfits with the Yosen insignia stitched somewhere on them.

There were no strict rules about customization, just the color scheme and insignia.

"Hey, look over there. That girl with those four."

"Yeah, she looks cute."

"Hey! Wanna hit up on her?"

"No way in hell! Lol!"

"Are those her brothers?"

Since Lucas was enrolling today, he stood out in his non-uniform female clothing.

A certain black-haired male with green eyes wearing glasses smirks as he tilts his glasses upward.

"Hmph. As expected."

…. Enma, Damian and Shane looked at Kaiden for a moment, but they decided to ignore him for the moment.

"Anyways…"

"Enma and Lussac will head to the SC's office," Shane said lazily.

"SC?" Lucas asked, blinking in confusion.

"Student Council," Shane replied, handing Lucas a stack of papers with his usual indifferent air.

"Enma's got some business there anyway, so it'll be done quickly."

Lucas took the papers, still adjusting to Shane's laid-back attitude.

"Here. Everything you need. And don't worry about your identity—it's already taken care of."

Shane added, waving a hand dismissively before turning and walking off with Damian.

It should have been complicated to adopt Lucas and enroll him—background checks, paperwork, waiting lists—but Shane had somehow handled everything effortlessly.

The brothers had stopped questioning Shane's connections a long time ago.

However deep those connections went, they didn't want to know.

"Alright then, we'll be heading off," Enma said with a small wave as he led Lucas toward the administrative building.

Inside the Administrative Building

Lucas followed Enma at a comfortable pace.

Compared to the others, Enma was far easier to keep up with.

Well, except for Kaiden—his pace was slower too, but only because he always had his nose buried in a book.

Even though Enma wasn't as intimidating as Damian or Shane, Lucas still couldn't completely relax around him.

"So… you're the student representative, huh? That's pretty cool."

Lucas blurted out impulsively, instantly regretting it.

Enma sighed and gave him a wry smile, the kind that hinted he had long since given up fighting against life's—no, his brothers whims.

"Believe me, I didn't want to be."

They reached the second floor of the administrative building, still one floor short of their destination.

The Student Council's office was on the top floor, in the third building.

"It was supposed to be Shane or Kaiden," Enma continued with a resigned shrug.

"Shane wasn't interested, and Kaiden outright refused."

"So... we settled it with Rock Paper Scissors."

For real?

Lucas' lips twitched at the absurdity.

"This is a nationally-affiliated school for crying out loud," Lucas mumbled to himself.

But knowing the Creed brothers, Rock Paper Scissors was perfectly on-brand for them.

"Everyone lost," Enma added with a chuckle. "Scratch that…."

"More like this… Damian didn't even play—he wasn't interested—and Shane lost on purpose."

Lucas could feel his lip twitch again in disbelief.

This was an elite institution, and the student representative had been chosen through a children's game.

It was baffling… and yet, somehow, exactly what he'd expect from them.

Was Enma sulking?

Lucas glanced at him, but Enma had already returned to his usual, laid-back demeanor.

Before Lucas could say anything else, they arrived at the Student Council office.

Knock! knock!

"Enter."

A voice came from behind the door, prompting Enma pushed the door open, and they stepped inside.

The office smelled faintly of fresh paper and polish, giving it a crisp, new feeling.

Behind a neatly organized desk sat a beautiful woman with black hair that shimmered with subtle blue undertones.

She wore a customized version of the Yosen uniform—white with gold and blue accents.

"Welcome."

She looked up from her computer, her sharp gaze locking onto Enma.

For a brief moment, her expression flickered—just the faintest sign of recognition.

Enma's usual relaxed expression faltered slightly as their gazes locked.

"Uhm…"

"Ahem. Enma Creed. Freshman Representative, welcome," she said, standing up and offering a nod.

"Welcome to Yosen Magic Affiliated College."

Meanwhile.

Outside the Administrative Building

Kaiden sighed heavily, rubbing his temples. "Haah..."

In front of him, a commotion was already brewing.

"Tsk! Do you know who I am? How dare you bump into me!"

A cocky? …. Gangsta? All of the above looking freshman snapped, glaring at Damian.

Damian stood calmly, brushing off his sleeves.

"I already apologized. What more do you want?"

"Damian, just chill out! Please!"

Shane interjected, unusually trying to deescalate the situation.

It was only the first day, and the Creed brothers were already involved in trouble.

So… how did it come to this?

They had been heading toward the auditorium when Damian somehow bumped into an arrogant looking freshman.

Technically, Damian had apologized, but to Kaiden, it looked deliberate—like the freshman had been the one to bump into Damian on purpose.

"Oh? A fight?"

"First day, and we've got drama already?"

"This should be fun."

A crowd of both freshman and upperclassmen began gathering, and it was clear that this whole thing had been staged.

It wasn't surprising.

The Creeds had swept the top rankings during the entrance exams, drawing attention from students, faculty, and Magic Clans alike.

Enma had ranked first in both the physical and magical categories, and third in the written exam.

Kaiden had come second in both the written and magical exams, though his physical ranking was seventh—no surprise, since he wasn't much of a physical type.

Damian had placed second in the physical test, third in magical, and fourth in written—though only because he couldn't be bothered to try.

And now, it seemed their success had painted targets on their backs.

"Oi! Twerp, what are you gonna do about the stain on my shirt?"

The freshman sneered, though there wasn't a single stain to be seen.

Shane stepped forward, raising a hand to diffuse the situation—an unusual move for him.

Normally, he'd be the one escalating the situation, but this was a move that surprised Damian and Kaiden.

However, if Shane knew what they were thinking, he'd have retorted: "What do you all take me for?"

"Look, I'm sorry. Can we just—"

"—Huh? Who the fuck is this peasant? No wonder I smelled something foul," the freshman spat.

Kaiden cringed inwardly. This wasn't going to end well.

"What's going on here?"

A woman wearing the female version of the Yosen uniform stepped in.

However, what stood out more than her school uniform was the red armband wrapped around her arm—a symbol everyone here recognized.

For the freshmen, they had seen individuals wearing that same red armband during their entrance exams.

She was part of the disciplinary committee.

"What happened here?"

The instigator went silent real quick the moment she stepped into their midst.

Shane, seeing as they wouldn't speak up, cut in.

"Nothing! I was just asking for directions, that's all."

Shane shook his head but didn't wear his usual carefree expression.

Even Damian looked slightly caught off-guard.

"Then what's with the crowd?" the woman asked, eyeing the group skeptically.

"A little argument. Nothing worth escalating." Shane said with a shrug.

"Haah, what a drag. I'm out."

Damian ruffled his hair and walked off, clearly uninterested in any further drama.

"I see. If that's all, you can go," the woman said, dismissing them.

Shane nodded and followed Damian, with Kaiden close behind.

"Shane, what would you have done if she hadn't shown up?"

Kaiden asked as they neared the auditorium.

Shane shrugged. "Why would I waste my time on a weakling?"

Kaiden sighed. "Well, if you say so."

And with that, they stepped inside.
