Neo Constantinople, Deneb Prime, Deneb Sector.
It took the Imperium two days to send their force. Deneb Prime is a colony world not fit for extensive military operations. And now, the Imperium's 25th Classis is stationed around the planet. On board the 25th Classis, are the 212th and the 501st Assault Legions, veterans of the War in Heaven. Along with the 5th Cerberus Pack, the war hounds of the Imperator.
As ordered by the Imperator, the 5th Cerberus Pack are to land and arrive at the city of Neo Constantinople. As the Cerberus marched, they saw newly made victory memorials, in honor of the soldiers, the generals, the current governor, and for the Young Master of the Galactic Imperium. A memorial of statues of them, erected side by side with their first up in defiance of the barbaric invasion. Despite the enemy being woefully outmatched in technology, it was still a dangerous situation due to the fact of war beasts and the massive numbers of the enemy.
However, the force was not to embark as Lucius wanted to make sure the necessary defenses are completed. In anticipation, Lucius under his jurisdiction as the Young Master of the Imperium commanded that the City Center of Neo Constantinople is to be transformed into a military complex. That said, he ordered civilian and commercial facilities to be relocated somewhere else as they are compensated fully by the Imperium for their discomfort.
Lucius also made quick of the prisoners they took. He ordered that they are to be interrogated immediately, and by all means to gain information. Of course, this meant that he ordered linguists to learn and decipher the letters of their language. While their alphabet has a similarity to Korean Hangul, the pronunciation was much different. For one, it's much similar to a mixture of Latin and Greek. It took quite a considerable amount of time for the linguists to decipher, though fortunately, it didn't take a while for them to gain information.
The prisoners they caught are called Saderans. They came from the continent of Falmart, and the Empire of Sadera. The reason for their invasion is simply to pillage and plunder, as well as to capture as many people to be sold as slaves for their "glorious" empire. This information was released, and many ridiculed how pathetic the so-called Empire of Sadera is if they have to plunder to maintain their economy and kidnapping to project power upon others. It became a laughing stock, and the youth began to create ridiculing memes against the Saderans. Yes, the art of memes remained relevant even after 2000 years.
The once bustling city center is now transformed into the planet's most defended ground facility. The tall buildings surrounding the center are to be made as firing grounds, barracks, and command centers. He would not put the birthplace of his mother in jeopardy.
For his service, Lucius was elevated to his long overdue rank, and he is now General Lucius Aurelius. The long overdue rank was not because of the Imperator nor the Senate disapproving, but Lucius denied it. He was even supposed to be elevated to Chief of Staff of the Militarum, but he denied it. His intentions in denying such promotion were one, he wanted to experience direct combat and not be stuck behind a desk.
Of course, the orders to take a world were not fit for the rank of Colonel, so the Militarum instead elevated him to General, whether the Young Master liked it or not. Along with him, his comrades were also elevated. Hector was elevated to Lieutenant General along with Igor. While Marcus and Lucas are elevated to Colonel General.
And now, Lucius is standing over more than 2,000,000 Cerberus soldiers of the 5th Pack. They are all neatly lined alongside their parked armor vehicles, in perfect formation, and ready to fight.
"Brothers! Sisters! You are here today for what the Imperator has given us, a task. The 5th Cerberus Pack shall cross the GATE and secure a foothold beyond. We are there to begin our retribution for their brazen attack on Deneb Prime and her people, we are there to enact the Imperator's will!" Lucius said. "Their barbaric acts shall be repaid tenfold! We will bring those who are responsible to justice! The Imperator's Justice! Beginning today, Saderans will fear the Imperium's might!"
Cheers of anticipation and war cries are heard across the city. It was clear, the Saderans have awoken the sleeping giant, and there was no turning back.
"Brothers! Sisters! Recite the Soldier's Oath!" He shouted as he clenched his right fist to his heart, the Cerberus did so as well.
"I, soldier of the Imperium, do solemnly swear!
To devote my life and my abilities,
To protect the Galactic Imperium and her people,
To defend the civilizations of the Galaxy,
To preserve the universal right of all sentient life,
From the darkest abyss of The Maw to the warmest light of Terra,
From the depths of the Mariana Trench to the farthest reach of the Galaxy,
For as long as I live!"
Lucius's speech is broadcasted throughout the sector, and it includes the men stationed at the starships above.
"Now, we march!"

Sadera, Imperial Senate
Uproar. Uproar is all anyone can hear. The senators of the Empire have been arguing for almost two hours straight. Yet still, no solution to their problem.
"It was a complete embarrassment, your Majesty. We lost 60% of our military might. What would you have us do? What would you do to guide us?" A senator boldly asks as he takes the stage.
The senator's name is Casel, a Marquess of the Empire of Sadera.
"Marquess Casel. Think about how the people must be." The Emperor called Molt said. "It is true that our latest losses have cost us our military advantage. They worry about the vassals or other nations might rise in revolt and attack us. How pathetic."
The words stunned Casel.
"Every time we face a time a crisis, the Emperor, the Senate, and the people become one and bring even more progress." Emperor Molt said." No war is won without losses. Therefore, I will not put anyone responsible for these losses."
"To think any nation would dare surround the capital. I trust anyone of you wouldn't waste time in court." The Emperor said, drawing some confident laughs.
"To pass over all responsibilities..." Casel muttered disgustedly.
"But what shall we do?"
A fellow senator took the stage. The old man is wounded, as he walked limply toward the center. The old senator is Godasen, an old veteran of the past.
"The armies we sent two days ago to Alnus Hill have all been decimated. And now the Gate has been captured, and the enemy has begun their fortifications." Godasen said. "Of course, we must retake the hill. But enemies in the distance... I have not seen such sorcery before. The situation becomes worse for us when the scouts reported a massive army crossing from Helnus Gate."
Everyone remembered the reports of the surviving army of 20,000 legionnaires from Helnus Gate, their testimonies of the terrifying army that decimated the Expeditionary army with powerful magi. How each of them pissed their pants and shivered in terror as if they witnessed a demon in the flesh. And now, a massive army has crossed after a few weeks since the expedition.
"We ought to fight them!" A Senator shouted. "If we do not have enough men, we need only to recruit from our tributaries. Attack both other sides once more!"
"What good will brute force alone do?!"
"It will be another catastrophe just like Godasen has said!"
The Senate room began to roar up again. But the Emperor calmed them down, with a single motion of his hand.
"I do not wish to sit idly by. Therefore, we must fight." Emperor Molt said. "Send delegates to our neighbors and tributaries. Ask for help in defending the continent from these otherworlders."
The Emperor then stands, confident in the face of his senators.
"We will lead the Allied Army of Godu Rino Gwaban in an attack on Alnus Hill!" He announced.
The majority of the senators applauded his decision, cheering him for this solution. However, senator Casel approached the Emperor.
"Your Majesty, it will be a bloodbath."
In the unpredictable reaction, the Emperor smirked, a sinister one that caught Senator Casel off guard. At this moment the Casel caught on to his plan. The Emperor wanted a bloodbath, the bloodbath of the neighboring states and tributaries will assure the Imperial dominance over them. And Casel could wager, the Emperor have no intention to exert more of his army.
"But your Majesty, what about the armies on Helnus Hill?" Asked a Senator.
All eyes are now on the Emperor, as he sat back on his throne.
"For that, we must exert more of our treasuries. We must build more armies to defend from any advancement from there." Emperor Molt said. "I do not like it, but if given the testimonies of the survivors to be true, then we cannot treat this force lightly. Therefore, we will not commit our force to an assault until we are ready. We will enact scorch earth from Helnus to Sadera, safe for Bellnahgo and Rondel."
The senators didn't like it at all, but they see the point. So, the plans for Sadera have been set to place.

Helnus CENTCOM, a week later.
Fortifications are set the moment the Cerberus army has set foot since a week ago. Lucius along with his advisors and closest friends discussed how they would fortify the place. In the end, they chose to put the standard fortifications during the War in Heaven.
A pyramid in the center, with octagonal walls surrounding the pyramid. The pyramid is equipped with gun batteries for all uses. Anti-air, mid-range artilleries, and anti-infantry if a breach was made. Inside the walls would be made to fit the needs of the defenders. Barracks, armories, armor vehicles depot, fuel depot, and an airfield within the walls. There are emplacements of artilleries and more anti-airs around the camp, as well on the walls are equipped with anti-infantry, anti-airs, and anti-tank defenses.
But as much as the priority construction of the fort, they're not as important as the beacon. The beacon is almost near completion, and once it's done, the beacon will transmit coordinates to the 25th Classis.
Lucius stood in anticipation in the pyramid's Command Center, as the beacon is almost done. Once it's done, the 2nd Classis will arrive and they are set for extensive actions on the planet.
"Young Master, the beacon is completed."
Lucius smiled, this is a piece of good news.
"Transmit our coordinates immediately. We will need our brothers in those ships for our operations." Lucius commanded.
The officer rushed back to his station. As a fellow officer began to activate the beacon.
"Beacon is online!"
"Transmit coordinates!"
"Transmitting now!"
The beacon transmitted the location, making the planet open for the Imperium's fleet.
"Transmission completed. We got a response from the 25th Classis."
"Good. In the meantime, get me Lieutenant General Hector, Lieutenant General Igor, Colonel General Marcus, and Colonel General Lucas to my office." Lucius commanded an officer.
The officer said nothing but nod and a salute, as Lucius walked away and headed straight to his office.
The CENTCOM is going at a fast rate. At this rate, it would take only two months for us to finally finish the construction. He thought to himself.
He began to lose in thought, only when he reached his office he came to his senses. He sat down on his desk, waiting for his closest officers to come.
The door automatically opened, as Lucius saw his comrades making entry.
"You called us, boss?" Hector greeted.
"Yeah, come close. I need to tell you something."
The four stepped closer, a foot away from his desk.
"I need your boys to be on full combat readiness. Our UAV just sent us its recon, and it shows that there are two major cities right to our east and northeast. We can always expect resistance coming from there." Lucius said. "That said, that's not why I called you for."
Lucius then throw the datapad at the desk, and the four took turns looking at the file.
"Is that..?" Lucas muttered.
"Yes. Another army coming from the other GATE, from Alnus Hill." Lucius said. "And what's tricky? It's that they have modern weapons with them. But that's not the tricky part. The tricky part would be that they looked like an army from Earth. From the 21st century earth."
"Wait, 21st-century Earth? You're telling me that GATE is a time machine?" Igor asked in disbelief.
"Could be, or maybe an inter-dimensional portal that could lead to another dimension. The same thing could be said to our GATE, only that theory was completely debunked when the 25th Classis responded. That, and the fact that the natives grouped up to fight them, only for them to be obliterated by sheer firepower." Lucius answered. "We also detected radio frequencies of theirs coming from Alnus. However, we have not built the necessary facility to intercept their transmission as of now. I mean, we could do without the facility. But given the anomaly the planet has for radio frequencies, it would require us to build the proper facility to bypass that problem."
"If this our people, why didn't we go and make contact with them?" Lucas suggested. "If anything, they could help us."
"You forget that 21st-century humanity is very much different than ours. And if the theory of it being an inter-dimensional portal is true, the other humans wouldn't meet the Sphere, or have Augustus to unite the planet." Lucius said. "In any case, they may even turn hostile, even though I hate to imagine a conflict with our kind. Despite them being from another dimension."
"Have you even reported this to the Imperator yet?" Hector asked.
"No, I have not. The reason why, is I want to make sure of who are we dealing with." Lucius said. "If it's a nation from old Earth, I would like to know who so that we act accordingly."
"So, what do you want us to do boss?" Marcus asked.
"Get your men ready at a minute's notice. Hector, and Marcus, you two will hold at CENTCOM. You will be our reserves. Lucas, I need your men to scout surroundings for possible LZs for the 212th and 501st, they will have their forts of their own." Lucius said. "Igor, I need your men to make contact with the populace. It's about time we make an appearance."
"Wait, where are you going? You sounded like you're going somewhere." Hector asked suspiciously.
"I am going somewhere. I'm going to Italica. The trade hub city southeast of us." Lucius replied.
"And why is that?" Hector asked again.
"I had a feeling, that is all." Lucius simply asked. "You want a concrete explanation? It's because the 'Force' telling me to do so."
"*Sigh* You and your infatuation with Star Wars..." Marcus whined. "You even use the term Force to explain your psychic abilities..." Marcus whined.
"*Laugh* I couldn't help it! I love Star Wars! And we're living in our era of Star Wars itself! Of course, I would have to use the chance to call it that." Lucius tried to defend himself.
"*Sigh* Well at least take some men with you. You're the Young Master after all." Igor said.
"Alright. I'll take a company with me." Lucius. "Is there anything you would like to ask before we end this?"
The four of them shook their heads, signaling that they were good.
"Great. Now, this little meeting is adjourned." Lucius said. "Now, I better get ready. Don't want to miss an adventure in this young world."
The four gave Lucius a firm salute, as he returned in honor of the people he considered brothers. As the four left, Lucius went on to start preparing for his adventure.
°°°°°°
On the road.
Lucius just enjoyed the scenery, sitting atop the plasma turret of the Thor-class APC without giving a care. Unpolluted, clean, and young world. It's so peaceful, and the sun gives it warm humidity. Somehow, the sun is a bit hotter than the ones on Earth, despite being what looks like a G-Type star.
With him, are a convoy of several Thor-class APCs, all three variants of them. One IFV variant, an Anti-tank variant, and an Anti-air variant. With him are also 4 Centurion-class MBTs. Armed with plasma cannon, and anti-infantry plasma gun. Lucius's currently on the Thor-class Mobility Command Vehicle variant or MCV.
Each armored vehicle in the Imperium is equipped with standard Stronghold APS, which is a thin but almost impenetrable layer of energy shield. Plasma or energy-based weapons could not penetrate the shielding, however, kinetic weapons have the possibility, but it's very unlikely to cause massive damage let alone destroy the armor vehicles. However, energy weapons or kinetic weapons of the caliber of the ones the Imperium Navy uses will destroy the tanks with ease. It was made so that should one of the vehicles are captured, they can be destroyed if the situation denies the chance of salvage. They also use hover technology, which means the issue of hard terrain isn't an issue any longer.
Suddenly, the convoy stopped.
"Young Master, we got smoke coming from the horizon. Bearing 90°."
Lucius who was basking himself in the sunlight stops and looked through the built-in telescope in his helmet's HUD.
"Fire? I don't think there's any dried grassland around here." Lucius muttered.
"Actually, Young Master. There is surrounding farmland of grain in the outskirts of Italica." A Cerberus soldier corrected him.
"Ah, you're right. But still, it's not that hot to cause a wildfire." Lucius said. "That is Italica, yes?"
"Yes, sir. The smoke came from where Italica should be."
"... Deploy the recon UAVs. I need to know what's going on there." Lucius commanded. "Keep on high alert, we might have hostiles here."
"Understood sir!"
Lucius jumped in the APC through a hatch. Even though he's a good fighter and wore one of the best kinds of body armor in the Imperium, it will be disastrous if he was killed. Not even the efforts of the Galactic Custodes could calm the Imperator's Wrath.
The convoy kept on going, keeping watch for hostile ambushes. As they kept going, the convoy eventually caught sight of what has happened. The City of Italica was besieged. However, it seems the defenders have managed to win the day.
"Young Master, UAV caught heat readings from our 3. To the treeline." A Cerberus soldier said.
"How many?" Lucius asked.
"9,480 heat readings, sir. Possibly more."
"That many huh? We'll keep going. We're going to check the city." Lucius said.
"Is it your psionic feelings, sir?" A Cerberus soldier asked.
"Yes, yes it is. Now go straight until we reach their gate."
The convoy kept on going. Not giving a damn about the lurking eyes within the tree line. As soon as they reached the gate, an arrow was let loose at the front Centurion-class MBT.
"All units, hold your fire! Do not engage!" Lucius commanded.
The Cerberus did so as ordered, no matter how much they are itching in their trigger finger.
"Who's there?! If you aren't enemies, show yourself!!"
"They got some nerve demanding us like that." One of the Cerberus soldiers said.
"Can we kill them, Young Master?"
"No. You cannot. And I don't know why, it's just my gut feeling." Lucius replied. "However, I need the rest to disembark with me. In case things turn sour."
"Understood, boss."
Lucius opened the door of the APC and walked along the road to the gate. However, as he commanded, he didn't go alone.
The APCs opened up and Cerberus soldiers ran out of the APC. This caused some tensions between the defenders of the city and Lucius's men.
"We are not your enemy. For now, at least." Lucius said.
"How can we be sure, stranger?" The knight asked.
"If we are here to attack you, you wouldn't be talking," Lucius said. "We wish to speak to your leader, and speak terms of negotiations."
The knight squints his eyes, not trusting Lucius and his men. Who wouldn't at first contact? Cerberus armor are black with red highlights from their visors. Anyone who saw it would assume they're the soldiers of the devil.
The knight however backed down, as a young lady replaced him. She has long braided red hair up to her chest, scarlet eyes, an oval face, and by Lucius's surprise, quite the looker. If he hadn't known better, he would think she was an Imperium citizen.
"W-Who are you, stranger?" The teenage lady asked.
"I am General Lucius Aurelius. Cerberus soldier of the Galactic Imperium." Lucius said. "Or what you call, the enemies beyond Helnus Gate."
Almost immediately, the defenders draw their swords and nocked their bows, even the knight before stood a bit to the girl's side and protected her. Now Lucius can confirm, she is someone of importance. And at the same time, his men reacted by aiming their plasma rifles at the defenders, and the tanks and APC aim their guns.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. With a flick of my finger, I can order my men to attack you." Lucius said. "Order your soldiers down, and I will order the same to mine."
The young lady signals the knight beside him, as he ordered the defenders to stand down. With a flick of Lucius's wrist, his men stood down, however, their fingers stay on the pin.
"You say you want to have negotiations with us. Why not go to the Capital?" The lady asked.
"I have no wish to speak with them. It will only make me a headache dealing with those scums who attack my home." Lucius said.
Before the young lady could answer, another young lady with brown bob-cut hair rushed in and shouted.
"That's an affront to the father of the Third Princess of the Empire, Piña Co Lada! Show some respect to Emperor Molt!!" The young lady shouted.
Lucius was dumbstruck. So dumbstruck, he was unaware he asked out loud.
"Your name... Is Piña Co Lada?"
Some small snorts can be heard through Lucius's radio. Each couldn't believe what just happened. Even Lucius, the descendant of Augustus was completely baffled.
"Yes. Is that a problem?" The scarlet princess named Piña Co Lada asked.
"No. Nothing in particular. The reason why I want to talk negotiations at first is to affirm the terms of surrender of the city in exchange for security." Lucius said. "However the situation has now changed, and now I want to negotiate terms with you, Princess Piña Co Lada. In return for negotiations, we would offer our services to defend the city."
The offer was tempting, but it would certainly hurt the pride of the Saderans if they accept the offer for help.
Just as the princess was thinking about it on the spot, a transmission came to him.
"Young Master, I detected radio frequency coming from the city. It appears a part of the forces of Alnus Hill is here."
"Intercept the message," Lucius replied.
He turned his attention back and saw now that the princess was also with several people with her. An old knight, and soldiers with Kevlar. Lucius's eyes are now trained on the soldiers with Kevlar armor, with him are kinetic rifles of old. The soldier truly came from Alnus, the question is, which one are they?
"Young Master, I intercepted their transmissions. It's the Japanese Self-Defense Force of the 21st Century."
Lucius could breathe out a sigh of relief. It wasn't what he was worried about. It wasn't the Chinese, the Americans, or the Russians. It was the Japanese. And by the looks of it, the Saderans got it easily with post-WWII Japan.
Just as Lucius turned to the princess, she also did the same.
"Very well. We will accept your offer." Princess Piña answers his offer.
"A wise choice, princess."
Lucius then turned to the convoy, as they put the engine into gear. The gate in front of them opens, wide enough for his armor to make an entry.
"Convoy! Advance!"
The convoy advances, as they entered the walled city. Once Lucius entered, he saw the fear and exhaustion in the eyes of the militia. Both emotions are either to besieging forces outside or to the newcomers.
After parking the vehicles, Lucius looked around the defenses. And he can conclude the situation the defenders are in.
Fatigued, raw, and inexperienced. These militias would not last another night. Two, if they're lucky. Lucius thought to himself.
"Sir, are you sure about this?" A Cerberus soldier asked through the comms. "We are helping the enemy. Shouldn't we just let them destroy each other?"
"That would be nice, but since we found out about the other GATE, we have to make an appearance of the better version of humanity," Lucius replied through the comms. "Besides, it won't hurt for us to have a puppet leader."
Lucius felt several people coming his way. Each of them is powerful enough to take on a war beast. Lucius looked to where the present came from. He saw a JSDF unit along with three other people. All the other three are all females, and all of them seemed like characters from comics or mangas. One is a mage, one is an elf, and one wears a gothic dress with a massive halberd that she's carrying. They all seemed amazed by the hovering armor vehicles that Lucius brought with him.
The JSDF unit halted just a few meters away from Lucius's battalion. The situation was tense, not a single one of them spoke or anything. Just looking at the others, some of them began to tighten their grip on their rifles.
"H-hello! H-how are you?" One of them greeted as they attempted to open a conversation.
Lucius took a step forward, closing the distance between the JSDF soldier and himself. He did not say a word, keeping silent as he size up the soldier before him.
Something... Peculiar with this soldier. He thought.
"You... You're from Earth, right?" The JSDF asked.
"... Yes." Lucius simply said.
Lucius placed his hands on the back of his head, as the helmet began to open. He took off the helmet, and the sight of his face shook the JSDF unit.
"I am Lucius Aurelius. General of the 5th Cerberus Pack, soldier of the First Galactic Imperium." Lucius greeted.
"I-I am 2nd Lieutenant Itami Youji! Unit Leader of 3rd Recon." The soldier introduced. "W-wait? The Galactic Imperium??"
"Yes. You are JSDF from the 21st-century Earth, yes?" Lucius asked.
"21st century? Wait, so that means you're from the future?!" Itami said excitedly and in disbelief, so much so, Lucius have to lean back a bit.
"That's complicated. Tell me, who's your Prime Minister?"
"Motou Shinzo. Why are you asking?" Itami inquired.
"I see. Based on your answer, it appears we're not from your future. But other reality." Lucius said. "Which means, Alnus GATE is a GATE that transcends dimensions."
"Is that really?! Wow, that's awesome!" Itami said.
"Excuse me, but I have to ask." Said a short brunette female soldier of the JSDF. "What do you mean, 'The Galactic Imperium'?"
"It is as you heard. In our reality, Mankind as a whole united under one banner, under one leadership of Augustus I," Lucius said. "Then on, we became an Imperium of half of the Galaxy. A leader of the alliance of the greatest Stellar nations, and become the hyper-power of the Galaxy."
The JSDF soldiers are in awe at the answer they received. Yes, they are fully aware of the other GATE, and at first thought, it would connect to another place on Earth which is why the government is in rush to make a foothold. Though, they didn't realize that their GATE would lead to a world where there's a faction that could easily overwhelm every nation on Earth.
"Wait, do aliens exist there?!" Itami asked.
"Yes, I assume you have not encountered one yourself," Lucius said.
"Well, extraterrestrial sightings and rumors are all we got," Itami replied.
"Then there must be somewhere in your universe. Sightings such as those are often because a science crew of a stellar nation went a bit too far and too confident in masking themselves to the race they are researching." Lucius said. "Most of the time, they didn't even bother because they think one's primitive race can't do anything dangerous to them."
"To think humanity would be able to achieve such things..." One of them muttered.
"It is due to the rise of the belief that regional nationalism is the cause of unrelenting violence amongst humans, that caused the rise of unitary beliefs to prominence," Lucius said. "But now it's not the time to discuss that. I need to speak with the princess."
°°°°°°
"Princess, are you sure we're letting them here? We already let the ones from Alnus enter as well. Now we're letting the ones from Helnus as well." The knight named Norma protested.
"He's right, princess. It might not be safe to have them here." The old knight named Grey followed.
"Nonetheless, we need them. We won't stand a chance against 10,000 deserters. This city would fall if we don't have help." Princess Piña reaffirms her decision.
She wouldn't be this desperate if it weren't for the acquired information from one of the deserters captured and interrogated by Norma and Grey.
For all this time she was fighting, and all those times the city was defending itself, was all but probing attacks. They were testing which defenses were weak, and exploiting them when the chance come.
The South Gate was breached, and thankfully enough, they were easily repelled. Pinã thought the militia could hold on for a few more days, that is until she discovered that the enemy was much more colossal than the militia, about 10,000 strong and they are all trained veterans from different kingdoms. She and the militia are now screwed. Which is why she's keen on accepting help from the otherworlders.
She and her entourage kept on walking to address the newcomers. However, to their surprise, the newcomers are already making contact with the JSDF from Alnus. To Pinã's surprise, they are human. And the one speaking with the JSDF leader Itami is a handsome man with raven black hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. At a glance, the man looked like he comes from a royal or noble house.
The man looked at her directly and shifted his attention right at her.
"Princess Piña. I believe you are here to take us where you would want to speak negotiations?" The man said.
"It is. I assume you are General Lucius, yes?" Piña asked. "I'm sorry, it's just hard to differentiate you all with the helmets you are wearing."
"I see. And yes, I am Lucius Aurelius. If it's to your liking, I can have my men remove their helmets." Lucius said.
Lucius turned to his men, and with a single nod of his head, his men removed their helmets. To the surprise of many, each one of Lucius's soldiers is blessed with good looks. As if the gods bestowed upon them the gift of beauty to both man and woman of his army.
"Well then, let us talk negotiations," Lucius said.
"O-of course. Let us." Piña stumbled over her words as she was in flustered and disbelieving manner to see all of Lucius's soldiers are beautiful and handsome.
Piña and her entourage escorted Lucius and some of his men inside the castle grounds of House Formar.
"This fortress city, Italica, stands strategically between the intersections of Tessaria and Appia highways, making this city a major commercial hub too." Princess Piña began to explain. "For generations, it has been ruled by the counts of Formar, a noble house of the Empire. But when the last count died suddenly, the three daughters he left behind began to struggle for dominance."
"First and middle daughters are already married off to other noble houses, and now they fought over to become the guardian of the youngest heir, Myui, who is about 11 years old." The Princess continued.
"Poor her, to be a victim of court culture," Lucius commented.
"When the Empire invaded the GATEs, the head of the family of every noble house is expected to lead their forces. However, many didn't make it back." Piña said. "It came to the point where defending and maintaining order in Italica became an issue."
Lucius said nothing as he kept following the princess who was leading him somewhere. The princess leads him to a dead end, on the right is a door.
"Beyond this door, lies the current ruler of Italica, Countess Myui," Piña said.
She opened the door, revealing the young countess sitting anxiously. Lucius gave a little bow of courtesy, as she responded the same curtsy.
"Even though she's the head of the family, it's too much to ask her to lead an army," Piña said. "As such, I'm taking command in her stead."
"I see." Lucius simply said.
"Now, follow me to the study room. Let us talk negotiations." Piña said.
Lucius entered the room along with his men, with Piña, Countess Myui, and her people as well.
As they sat down, they were immediately served wine for the talks. However, Lucius didn't touch them, nor did his men as they put down the glass when they were handed over.
"You're not drinking?" Piña asked.
"I prefer not. It is not in our work ethics to be drunk in an important meeting such as this." Lucius replied.
"I see. So, let us cut to the chase." Piña said. "You will help us if you have negotiations with us?"
"That is correct. We will assist your defense against traitors of your kind. After all, we all hate traitors." Lucius said. "But that's not all we would want to talk about. But for now, let us just talk about the future of Italica."
Lucius's words drew everyone's attention, wanting to know what he would negotiate.
"And that is?" Piña asked.
"Italica's surrender to the Galatic Imperium, and the Countess's allegiance to the Imperator." Lucius delivered his demands right to the Countess's face, making sure they make eye contact. "In return, Italica will be protected by the Militarum of the Imperium. That goes with our full support to the Countess in the attempt to restore order, be it military-wise or economic. As well as the Countess's elevated rank into Marchioness, allowing her to own 15,000 soldiers of the Imperium Militarum along with their full equipment of weapons and armor by our standards."
The demand was shocking to them. Sure, it was not shocking that they would demand surrender, however, to offer full protection and support, alongside allowing the Countess to own 15,000 soldiers to her use is shocking. A Marquess would at least own 1000 to 5000 men for one's use. She would be given 15,000 soldiers. That would be enough to hold several large towns at once!
"And, how exactly why you think the Countess would accept it?" Piña tried to argue.
"I will summon a portion of my force to perform, a demonstration. I am sure, you will find my forces more than just a rumor." Lucius said. "I will make an example of the traitors, and they will be dealt with swiftly."
Just before Piña could answer, she was cut off.
"H-how fast can your forces arrive?" Countess Myui asked, anxious but confident about the offer.
"The moment I call them, they will be here within a few hours," Lucius answered.
"Countess Myui, please rethink this." Piña urging her.
"I-I need assurance for the safety of my people, your highness. A-And I am aware, that the Empire cannot give me that." Countess Myui replied. "If it's to save my people by changing my allegiance, I will do it."
"So, you accept my offer?" Lucius asked.
"Y-yes, but only once you show your force for demonstration," Myui said. "I-I think it is fair since I also need assurance and knowledge of what kind of support."
"Fair enough. I will call my men after the talks." Lucius said. "Now, I would like to talk with you, Princess Piña. Regarding your Empire."
"And your demands?" Piña asked.
"Woah there, I wouldn't go there first. Your Empire's situation is not as urgent as it is with Italica." Lucius said. "So, I would like to offer you to travel beyond the GATE of Helnus. Of course, you can bring your people with you, and bring as many as you can. The more, the merrier as people have said."
"And what purpose is this travel?" Piña asked.
"Well, to experience the excitement of being in another world for one. And the main reason is that my orders are to bring a person of great influence to meet the Imperial Senate and the Imperator himself." Lucius said.
Piña's face paled. The people beyond Helnus demand responsibility from the Empire, and now their general has found her as one of the most influential people in the entire empire.
"Of course, you can think of it all you like. I will give you until tomorrow to think about it." Lucius said. "Even if you refuse, I will not put you or your people in harm. Which reminds me, where will my men and I be posted?"
"You will help hold the southern gate along with the JSDF from Alnus."
Lucius stood, as he gave a curtsy bow to all of them.
"This has been a productive talk. But I must get going, I have to call for reinforcement as I have promised.
Lucius then walked to the door and exited the premises in its entirety. Leaving Piña silent, as she figures out what would be her answer.
°°°°°°
"You can't make it back today?! What do you mean Itami?!!" Itami's captain yelled at him through the radio.
"Well, uh, we've gotten kinda caught up in a battle," Itami said nervously.
"Why aren't you more concerned about this?!? What about the Diet summons?!"
"Oh, yeah that's right. Well, I've got a piece of information Captain. And it's not concerning about my current situation being stuck in Italica." Itami said. "And I mean, this piece of information is really important and valuable."
"Hm? And what's that?"
"Remember the second GATE that the locals mentioned?" Itami asked. "We encounter the forces from the other GATE here in Italica."
"You do?!! How the hell did that happen?"
"I have no idea, sir. But in the end, we make contact. And you won't believe it, captain, they're much, much more advanced than us." Itami reported. "Their body armor is so sci-fi looking, their armor vehicles are way too advanced than any armor vehicles in the world. I mean, their armor vehicles can hover."
"They have armor vehicles? Well, then it sure is the forces from the other GATE." The captain said. "We got information that our jets are being chased away from the area by guided anti-air rockets. Some almost got into a dogfight. We got reports of their aircraft being much more advanced than ours, and that it's very silent, almost like an F-22."
"And I was informed of this now?" Itami protested.
"Field command doesn't want to spread information that is mere rumors. However, with your reports of their physical sightings in Italica, we now have the necessary information to confirm it." The captain said. "Which means you have to snap some pics to confirm it."
"*Sigh* Roger that," Itami said. "Which reminds me. I request support from the base to eliminate hostility besieging the city. If we don't, we might let them suffer."
"*Sigh*, I'll report this to General Hazama. Don't worry, you'll get support."
Itami can only rub his face, he didn't expect the situation to be like this. He looked outside and saw his men mingling with the other soldiers from Helnus.
I just hope things go well between us and do not escalate to some inter-dimensional political incident. He thought to himself.
As he exited his humvee, he caught a glimpse of Lucius arriving back from the Formar estate. As he approached, his soldiers notices his arrival. His soldiers rushed in line, lining neatly as their commanding officer approached.
"The Formars have assigned us in the Southern Gateway. Make preparations for light defenses, in case we are needed to reinforce other gateways." Lucius commanded. "I've already given my commands to the boys in the East Gate, they'll come around with our vehicles here."
"Sir, yes sir!"
As soon as they replied, the armors hovered inside the walled city. The Thor-class APCs are parked neatly inside the walls, while the tanks are intentionally parked outside.
Lucius's men then rushed away from their lines as they make preparations for the light defenses they are ordered to make. PLMGs are placed on the wall and mounted on the ramparts. A few squads of men brought their mortars from the APC as they coordinated with Lucius on where to place them, and in the end, they were stationed somewhere near the palace grounds of House Formar.
Itami took out his phone and began to photograph everything that the Galactic Imperium have. Their hover tanks, hover APCs, their much-advanced weaponry, and body armor. Everything. Luckily for him, he snapped a shot of Furuta speaking with a soldier of the Imperium, making it more believable evidence. Mari was taking notice of her lieutenant's actions and approached the man.
"Mari, can you take over and take a video of me having a conversation with one of them?" Itami asked her.
"Sure... I guess." Mari said.
Itami gave his phone to her, leaving her to record everything from afar. Itami approached the man in question, and it didn't take long for the man to take notice of him.
"Is there anything you need, 2nd Lieutenant Itami?" Lucius asked him.
"Well, I was wondering if we should cooperate on the defense of the Southern Gate," Itami said. "That way, we can maximize our efforts here effectively."
"A fine suggestion, and fortunately for you I was about to ask you myself," Lucius said. "And have no fret, I have already called more support from Helnus. They should be arriving at midnight."
"Ah, I see..."
Itami's face went pale. He didn't expect the forces of Helnus would be arriving that fast. Moreover, he was afraid that one of the two might go hostile and trigger the unwanted inter-dimensional incident.
"What's the matter, 2nd Lieutenant? Is something on your mind?" Lucius asked.
"Well, uh, I also asked for support to Alnus Base. I didn't realize you would do the same. I am concerned that there would be growing tensions between my support and yours, General." Itami voiced his concerns.
"I see. Well, we have to inform our respective forces so that there will be no incident between us." Lucius said as he patted Itami's shoulder. "Meet me at the ramparts when you are done. I must excuse myself, I have to inform my forces of this update."
"O-of course, General," Itami replied.
Lucius walked away, heading straight to the ramparts. While at the same time, he went to Mari who was recording the whole thing.
"So, did you get it?" He asked her.
"I did, but there's no audio of the conversation in the background," Mari said.
"Oh that's more than enough, it's enough evidence for Field Command," Itami said.
"Did Field Command order you to do that?" Mari asked.
"Yes, just earlier when I contacted them about our predicament. They told me to snap some pictures or shoot a video, and I did. Field Command wants to use this as a piece of evidence, and possibly request more additional personnel to Special Region."
"I see..."
Unbeknownst to the two of them, Lucius was glancing at them, keeping a sharp eye on Itami.
It appears I was right about planting that nano-bug on his shoulder. Lucius thought to himself.
°°°°°°
The day turning to dusk, Lucius along with Itami watched over the group of riders scouting them. With them, are the entire 3rd Recon Unit, and a platoon of the 15th Assault Company.
"You spot them?" Lucius asked.
"Yeah, they're scouting us," Itami said. "Their main force is behind them, 10,000 more or less."
"10,000!? Lieutenant, we can't fight that many!" Kuribayashi protested.
"She's right, Lieutenant. That's way too many for us to handle." Kurata said.
"The way I see it, we have no choice. We can't leave the citizens here to die, and we certainly can't get out at this very moment. Sure we can outrun them with our jeeps, but it would be very dangerous to do so. The only way to do now stays and fight." Itami said. "And calm yourselves. I've called support from the base. Seeing that we need that ASAP, the base would probably send in the 4th Combat Unit and their choppers to us. General Lucius has also called support from Helnus GATE, we won't be outnumbered for long."
His men can let out sighs of relief. Still, it would be extremely difficult if only 700 men held the Southern Gate.
"Still, I have a question," Kuribayashi said. "When we first got here, we heard from the militia that they were facing at least 4,000 strong for the last two days and were able to repel each of their attacks. Why only now have they put out all 10,000 of them? Why they don't just go full force since day 1 of the siege?"
"That would be because they have been probing the defenses of Italica. They're waiting for the right moment, to strike at the weakest defense in full force and overwhelm the defenders and take the city." Lucius jumped in to answer. "We already detected their full numbers through recon UAV. I am sorry I inform you this just now, I thought the Saderans would notify you of this right now."
"It seems they didn't. I wonder why..." Kuwabara rhetorically said.
"She's planning to use us as bait, as a decoy. If they did attack here, she would come to support them. But I take it she would take it as much time as she needs, after all, we're enemies of her Empire." Itami said.
"But the question is, would it work?" Mari asked.
"Truthfully speaking, no. I can bet my money, this is her first rodeo. And she's very inexperienced. I guess all of them are." Lucius answered. "The enemy would attack the South Gate again if it were guarded by militias. The fact they are scouting now, means they mean to make sure. However, these deserters are remnants of the battle of Alnus, yes?"
"Yes, that would be correct," Itami answered.
"Then they would be very familiar with you, and your power. And by now, they would have heard the presence of my forces in Helnus and what we look like. And by this variable, we can safely assume they won't be that foolhardy to attack our front directly." Lucius said. "They would certainly choose the second strongest defense, either the east or west gate since the north has a cliff and would be very much impossible to assault. And then, they would try to encircle us."
"Then why are we still here?! Shouldn't we notify her of this??" Kuribayashi asked.
"I don't know about you, but I can safely say the thoughts of my men. And that would be, 'Why bother?'." Lucius said. "And yes, why bother? She will learn of it herself, and when the situation gets dire, us from the 15th Assault Company would get into the action and save the day."
"And let hundreds of innocent people die? Are you insane?!" Kuribayashi protested.
"Oh please, don't think it too much. Many of the militia would die, yes. But, despite our prediction, would she be able to accept that so easily? Especially from the people who have been fighting her people? There's a big fat chance she will not take it into account. And that will be her mismanagement and a very valuable mistake." Lucius said. "If she is to lead a battle, she needs to be wise to bear that responsibility. If she was wise enough, she would spread out our numbers to the many posts and cover the area given the already spreading rumors of powerful 'magic' we possess. If she had taken into account that, she would have us do that. And instead, she placed us here, despite knowing that the enemy have tasted the bitterness of lead and gunpowder and made us an obstacle that should be avoided by attacking the other two gates. She's näive and inexperienced. The many deaths of the militia would shake her to the core, but it will be an unforgettable lesson. After all, failure is the greatest teacher."
Lucius's words silenced Kuribayashi. Despite wanting to argue further, she couldn't refute his logic. Even though it's a cruel way to do so. The rest of the 3rd Recon looked at Lucius with awe and realized he was already a General despite his young age. This means he's suffered many casualties in his years of service.
"That said, what should we do now?" Itami asked. "And I'm asking you this because you outrank us, even though we serve different nations."
"For now, nothing. But be ready to be mobile at a moment's notice. After all, if it was to be that way, we would need to assist them as fast as we can." Lucius said. "Logically, I would wait for a minute or so before giving them support to inflict the most damage to the militia so they can be very grateful for our support, I am not that heartless and cruel. Even though Cerberus needed to be cruel and heartless."
"I see. We'll do just that then." Itami said.
As Itami's men dispersed to their positions, one of the three girls earlier came approaching Lucius and his men. She's the one who bears a massive halberd and wears a 21st Century Goth-themed outfit. She stopped just a few feet from him and licked her lips ever so seductively that made him shiver in his spine, something that he had not felt since the War in Heaven.
"You... You reek of death... I like it..." The girl said.
She was about to breach Lucius's privacy when all of a sudden he was pushed behind by the Cerberus with him.
"Stay away from General Lucius, citizen." One of his men commanded.
"Citizen? Does citizen bear a weapon of my caliber? I have you know, I am Rory Mercury. Apostle and Servant of Emroy, God of War and Death." She said.
This caused the soldiers to tighten their grip on their rifles, and ready their fingers to squeeze the trigger.
"So, that's why you said that. I guess that made more sense."
Lucius walked through the soldiers in front of him, confronting the apostle.
"So much death... I can smell it from each of you here..." Rory said. "Tell me, why is it people like you are willing to help the princess of an empire that's supposed to be your enemy?"
"It's the city folk of Italica we're helping, not the princess of Sadera. They didn't start the hostilities between the Imperium and Sadera, nor did the Formars. We simply did our duty as protectors of humanity and all sentient life." Lucius did as he leaned over to the wall. "And as well, I want to make them know that it's not a good thing to become an enemy of the Imperium."
"Hm... I see. I sensed so many things from you. But I sensed no lies and deceit when you state your reason. I am certain that you have a tainted soul, but a rather peculiar one that wasn't caused by lies or deceit. Interesting indeed." Rory said. "I have to keep my eyes on you, General Lucius. You have my interest, in a good way that is."
Rory turned around and walked away swaying her hips rather seductively.
"... Permission to voice an opinion, sir?"
"Granted," Lucius said.
"That was a very weird and awkward encounter."
"Indeed it was, soldier. Indeed it was." Lucius confirmed.
As the sun finally sets, the Southern Gate was left in complete darkness. It was intentional, of course. The assumption should the deserters attack the South Gate, they would not find an easy fight as they would be shot from the dark. Lucius kept on his position since dusk, only this time he was guarded by only three soldiers with him.
Hours upon hours he wait. Waiting for the coming assault. He looked to the edge of his HUD, time showed 0000 hours on the planet. It was getting late at night, and the later it gets the greater chance of an assault or a standstill. Time then showed 0249, and still no movement from the enemy.
"Aquila Red 6, this is Helnus CENTCOM. Do you copy?"
"This is Aquila Red 6, how copy?"
"We can't send any support due to an unpredicted problem coming. Some nobles in Bellnahgo are raising whatever levies they have and they intend to march straight to Helnus CENTCOM. Lieutenant General Hector and Colonel General Marcus have agreed to deal with the potential threat in Bellnahgo's outskirts." The officer said. "However, we received news that the 25th Classis has arrived at the system at dusk and is currently orbiting the planet, waiting for your orders. The Lieutenant General and Colonel General have said that you would want to make a grand show of force."
Hearing the report made Lucius smirk delighted. Sure, he was at first annoyed by the situation unfolding in Bellnahgo, but he was relieved that the 25th Classis arrived at the perfect time.
"Patch me to Admiral James Hawthorne, General Liam Nguyen, and General Juumonji Tetsuo. I want to relay my orders directly." Lucius said.
"Understood, sir. Patching you now..."
After waiting for a few moments, Lucius's HUD displayed three different people.
"Young Master." They said as they saluted.
"Gentlemen. Before I give you my orders, I will need to ask about your current status."
"The 25th Classis have all arrived safely to the system, Young Master. All ships are accounted for, and ready for further orders." Admiral James reported.
"The 501st Assault Legion is ready for your command, Young Master. Ready to spill Saderan blood." General Nguyen reported.
"The 212th Assault Legion is at your command, Young Master. Ready to bring honor to the Imperium." General Juumonji reported.
"Good. Admiral, I will need you to deploy your fighters to the coordinate I will transmit to you. There are about 10,000 hostiles around my current position, besieging my position. But hold fire until I say so. I'm about to demonstrate the power of the Imperium to the populace."
"It will be done, Young Master." Admiral James responded.
"General Nguyen, General Juumonji. I will have a brigade from each of your Legions to be deployed at the coordinates I will give you. You are to support my position, encircle the enemy besieging my position, and create a kill zone from my position to your drop zone." Lucius said. "And before you execute, there is a developing situation you need to know."
"And that is, Young Master?"
"It turns out, the continent has two transport gates. And the other at the place called Alnus is an inter-dimensional one. It is currently connected to another alternate universe of old Earth. Similar, but different. 21st Century Earth if you want me to be specific." Lucius explained. "And what's interesting, is that the company I am accompanying has made contact with them. Thankfully for us, it is the 21st century post-World War Japan. They are cooperative but can take defensive actions. This reminds me, they will be sending their support coming from the south of my position. Be careful and watch your fire, they will be amongst the battle and it will cause an unwanted incident if we aren't careful. With them here, I intend to project us as the better version of humanity, in which we are."
"We will take that into account, Young Master. We will have our men be careful about what they are aiming at." General Juumonji responded.
"Good. I will be waiting for the reinforcements." Lucius said as he terminate the call.
Lucius then transmitted the coordinates where he is, and where the LZ would be. He kept looking at the southern horizons, that is what the JSDF who paid attention to him looked like. He has been communicating with the 25th Classis without their knowledge through the inner comms within every helmet within the Militarum.
He switched his HUD to thermal, and saw thousands upon thousands of small dots outside of the city, moving in two separate directions. He looked to the soldiers beside him, and one of them looked back and gave a little nod, confirming that they too saw it. The 15th Assault Company that was along with him had seen this and was aware.
The enemy has started to make their move.
It appears the enemy has decided to split their forces. And attack two fronts at once, leaving his and the JSDF position alone. As he had predicted. However, it appears they're not going to attack just yet.
"Sir, should we notify the JSDF about this?"
"No, leave them be. Let them figure it out." Lucius answered.
As kept watching, time goes by. The night went late, and later. Lucius looked at the edge of his HUD. 0310.
The enemy has charged right at the city. Attempting to storm East and West Gate. Then the alarm bells rang, simultaneously as the two gates are under assault.
Itami and the rest of the JSDF rushed to Lucius's position.
"General. It appears that the enemy has attacked two gates at the same time, what should we do?" Itami asked.
"Why do you ask me? I am not your General." Lucius said.
"It's simply because you're a General. Despite how young you look, you didn't get this position out of the blue. And by your assessment yesterday afternoon, you were right. Only a slightly off since they attacked two fronts at the same time." Itami replied.
Then all of a sudden, everyone heard moans. Moans of distress. Distressed, yet also unbearable pleasure. All eyes divert their attention to the apostle sitting on the floor, holding her halberd tightly as she squirmed.
"L-Lelei... What's going on?" Itami asked the young blue-haired mage.
"All fallen souls of battle are sent to Emroy through her. It also affects her as an aphrodisiac might." Lelei answered.
"And how do we handle that?" Itami asked again.
"Let her fight," Lelei answered.
As soon as she said that, Rory suddenly stood up and jumped off the wall into the rooftop of a house. She continues to jump away, right to the East Gate.
"Quick! We have to back her up!" Itami commanded.
"You will do no such thing, 2nd Lieutenant."
All eyes are now turned to Lucius.
"You will not go gungho, guns blazing without a plan. Just jumping right into the action without proper planning is reckless." Lucius said. "And don't worry about her. If she can jump that abnormally high due to her being an apostle to a deity, then she'll certainly have something to keep her alive."
"Then, what's the plan, General?" Itami asked.
Lucius looked at the JSDF, looking at him for an answer.
"I will split my company, one to hold the East, one to the West. Your 3rd Recon Unit will be going with me to the East." Lucius said. "I will have my tanks to flank the enemy on the outside, and once the APCs take us to the location, half of them will be assisting the tanks outside with the rest suppressing the enemy from the inside. At the same time, the mortar crew will commence fire missions to assist us. Is that clear?"
It was a sound plan, at least for the situation. With that, the JSDF unit agreed with the plan given. Lucius relayed his commands to the many elements of the 15th Assault Company, as the JSDF began to rush to board their vehicles.
And without missing a single heartbeat, they set off to support the fronts.
°°°°°°
Sword clashed, shields breaks, and bodies fall to the ground. Flame-lit arrows rained into the city, as the buildings adjacent to the walls began to burn. The deserters stormed the walls with speed unpredictable by the defenders. The walls were scaled and combat took place on the ramparts. But the defenders on the ramparts weren't enough, as some managed to bypass and opened the gate.
Particularly in the East Gate, the defense was already breached as the deserters began pouring into the city. They were halted by the makeshift defense around the gate and the scared and demoralized militia behind it. The deserters are confident, they didn't worry about the defense before them. The defense was susceptible to stopping them, yet it would not be effective if the force guarding it aren't trained. And these militias are not. They are scared, anxious, and inexperienced. They are easy to exploit.
The deserters then brought prisoners from the militia's own, dying yet alive. And the deserters began to mercilessly kill them all. This brought outrage from the inexperienced defenders, which was exactly what they were aiming for. The defenders sortied out from the makeshift defense and faced the deserters head-on. And from the perspective of those knowledgeable in the art of besieging, the deserters have dismantled the defense and all they need to do is to cut down the defenders.
Princess Piña was already watching the battle from the high building not far from the East Gate. She was in shock.
"It fell so easily..." She muttered. "I have no idea reality could be different from one's plans..."
The militia had at least 2137 men last she counted, by her prediction, it should be enough to hold on for long periods until reinforcement arrived.
"The East Gate has fallen! Civilians have entered the fight! They're requesting reinforcement!" A messenger hastily informed them.
"We have no more men to send!" Pinã replied in despair.
The more she focused on the battle, the more she heard the cries of the militias, the women who are comforting their children. All of them cried out one thing. Where are the otherworlders? Where are the Men in Green? Where are the Black Devils? Where are they?
Even though I ask for help, they're not going to come. Not after I sent them to die at the South Gate. She said in her heart.
Just as the situation was bad, it became even worse for her. From afar, she heard the enemy. And her look of shock is all anyone can see at the moment. Shock, sadness, and grief. Norma, one of her knights died.
She heard footsteps and saw the Countess outside the inner walls of the Palace grounds with whatever was left of her retinue.
"Countess! You shouldn't be here! It's not safe!" Piña worriedly raised her voice.
"It's my family's city. If it were to end, at least I must see it with my own two eyes." Myui responded. "Besides, that man has promised me to deliver his soldiers to help. And I will stay here until it comes."
Piña was about to argue further, but the look on Myui's face is clear, she will not change her mind.
At the same time, Piña wondered. Would the promised help come? Even if it did, would it come in time? She couldn't help but hope that it comes.
